Attaochu, Drummond sit out again for Georgia Tech

After the final practice of the week, Georgia Tech linebackers Jeremiah Attaochu and Daniel Drummond remained questionable Thursday for Saturday’s game against Maryland. The team also downgraded backup linebacker Brandon Watts from questionable to out.

None of the three practiced Thursday, their fourth consecutive missed practice.

TECH will be without three LB’s in the two deep and Maryland gets back two or three of their better players off suspension. I think this is going to be a pretty tight game folks. Can’t afford ANY turnovers and Tevin has to hit the open receivers!

Wouldn’t that be Upgraded to OUT? Downgraded from questionable would be probable right? I might have that backwards. As things get Worse the Defcons go higher right?

His situation was downgraded. If he was looking better, they would upgrade him to probable.

Maryland has as many, and probably more, injuries on defense as does GT.

Injuries are part of the game. I agree with “deal with it”. The backups will have to step up and make plays!
Go Tech!!!

Will certainly miss them, but take a look at how many linebackers are on the roster. May have to sacrifice a redshirt, but its time for some one else to earn there scholarship.

Thank goodness this is happening against Maryland and maybe Virginia next week instead of the meat of our schedule. I just hope everybody’s back and healthy for the Miami-Clemson-VT stretch.

Luckily, Nealy and Munroe have looked pretty good…we should be able to handle Maryland regardless.

If we can’t, we have bigger problems than a couple of linebackers out.

Foothills……..Didn’t know Wally Pipp was a linebacker! Must be a scout teamer! He is probably in his late 20’s by now, don’t you think?

FYI, Justin Moore just posted a pic of a GT helmet that is all black with a white GT logo. Looks pretty slick. He said all they need is DRad’s approval. I would guess for the Clemson game…

Not a fan. I hope D-Rad says to stick with the gold helmets. Black helmets with white jerseys and gold pants sounds atrocious.

Helmet looks pretty cool, but I say stick with what works. Speaking of which have the uniforms worn in the orange bowl and been burned yet? I think they were also wore in the bowl the year before.

Black is not our color. I think it is ugly. Wake or Vandy is fine in Black but not TECH. Sorry i don’t care for it. You want the Black Stripe fine.

Even the scout team QB was a linebacker. For the front 7, linebacker play is what the 3-4 defense is all about. 16 teams in the NFL play the 3-4 not only for pass defense, but because it is easier to find good linebackers than 4-3 defensive ends. The catch is that you need a very big, very tough NT that can handle double teams and still fill his gap.

I don’t think they were black even when they were leather. Most of the old photos aren’t color. This isn’t some kind of Russell Athletic scheme to follow Nike and Under Armour, I hope.

Tech’s 1984–1985 teams featured the “Black Watch” defense. The Black Watch defense was created by defensive coordinator Don Lindsey and featured linebackers Ted Roof and Jim Anderson and lineman Pat Swilling.[22][23] The elite defensive players were awarded black stripes down the center of their helmets and black GT emblems on the side of their helmets.[23] Curry’s leadership and ability to build a winning program sparked interest from the Crimson Tide and Alabama hired Curry away from Tech in 1986. After Curry’s departure, Tech hired the talented Maryland Terrapins Coach Bobby Ross, who departed a Maryland athletic program in turmoil after the Len Bias tragedy.

okay, I’m done with that foolishness…let’s be serious.. we are going to crush the Turtles no matter who’s playing LB for us. Maybe they get an extra score or even two that they wouldn’t have otherwise, making the score 49-24. Rest those boys up for the meat of the schedule.
