Georgia Tech-Maryland gets noon start

The ACC has given Georgia Tech’s Oct. 8 home game against Maryland a noon kickoff.  ESPNU will televise the game.

Including Maryland, Tech will have had three consecutive noon starts, starting with Kansas and North Carolina. The 3:30 p.m. feature game for that week is Miami at Virginia Tech. While Georgia Tech could enter the game with a 5-0 record, Maryland does not appear to be much of a draw, aside from its uniforms. The Terrapins are 1-2 and lost 38-7 to Temple on Saturday.

I am not trying to get ahead of myself, I know that it is a week-by-week season. BUT, IF tech and clemson both go undefeated going into the tech-clemson game on October 29, then ESPN College Gameday could very well come to ATL that weekend. Then we would all finally get the night kickoff that we have been looking for. Even if Gameday does not come to atlanta that day, the game could still get an evening kickoff. Would make a HUGE game.

Aside from that (dream), we need to continue to take care of business EVERY week and let everything else fall into place. If we play like we should on Saturday, I think beating NC State by 14+ is easy..

Well, I guess we will be tailgating after the game.
I know DRad has stated that he prefers all Sept games start @ 7p, all Oct games start @ 3:30p and Nov games start @ 1 (or noon). Looks like the ACC and ESPN isn’t listening.
Oh well. Guess the team and fans will still show up.

The worst part is before maryland lost to Temple the jumbotron at the stadium listed the game as 330 kickoff, and then changed it later when Maryland tanked

The night game was a against a lowly FCS program in WCU. While I still think the stands should have been filled, I understand why they were not. All the legitamate home games we’ve played have been at noon. In some ways it sucks, yes, but at the same time, all we can do is keep showing up and supporting the team in hopes that they will keep on winning. The UNC game was encouraging (almost full, and pretty loud) but we can do better, and I think we will.

We can’t complain about the refs for the UNC game.
They fortunately overlooked some pushing and shoving and let Stephen and their DBs play (meaning he usually won).
Except for the one hard hit.
Since there is hightened concern about concussions, they may have erred on the side of safety.
I can live with that.

The ACC is killing GT ticket sales with three consecutive noon starts at home. Everybody knows that’s the most difficult kickoff time to sell tickets for, and those games historically are impossible to sell out at Tech.
