Georgia Tech-Maryland gets noon start

The ACC has given Georgia Tech’s Oct. 8 home game against Maryland a noon kickoff.  ESPNU will televise the game.

Including Maryland, Tech will have had three consecutive noon starts, starting with Kansas and North Carolina. The 3:30 p.m. feature game for that week is Miami at Virginia Tech. While Georgia Tech could enter the game with a 5-0 record, Maryland does not appear to be much of a draw, aside from its uniforms. The Terrapins are 1-2 and lost 38-7 to Temple on Saturday.

We can’t complain about the refs for the UNC game.
They fortunately overlooked some pushing and shoving and let Stephen and their DBs play (meaning he usually won).
Except for the one hard hit.
Since there is hightened concern about concussions, they may have erred on the side of safety.
I can live with that.

I’ll learn one day to ignore them.

Problem on that play, 2011, was that it was nowhere close to helmet-to-helmet. That was just a bad call. But overall, I guess I will agree: officiating was ok.

sometimes hard to ignore them, 2011. They tend to bring out the worst in us, I guess. lol

It wasn’t all Paul Roberson’s fault (the losing season was a downer) but everyone is a lot happier to have Ken working the Tech beat.

The refs did overlook some after play pushing that I fear will draw a flag on the road.
Got to walk away guys and make them pay on the next play.

It’s Doug Roberson, but yes, I think we are all happier with Ken I am off to the gym. Anybody posting under the name Supersize between now and about 4:30 will NOT BE ME!!!! And I will be proudly wearing my Ga Tech t-shirt at the gym, so all the dawg fans there today can cringe the way I do when I see them in their Georgia shirts. LOL

“The ACC must really hate Tech. First we get noon kickoffs at home then they send Ron Cherry to officiate our games.”

Personal foul on Ron Cherry! He was given him the business!

Ken. many thanks for the great coverage, but don’t you mean three consecutive noon starts at home – or have we dropped NCSU at 2:30 (central) next week for lack of interest?

yeah uga has had the upper hand the past 8-10 years over Tech. There are a lot of variables at the root of that. The Tide is about to turn as it’s clear uga is on the downturn and Tech is on the uptick. if the dawg fans would put their biases away for a minute, they’d see that

“…three consecutive noon starts, starting with Kansas and North Carolina.”

What about the 3:30 this week against NC State?

Ken, you do a great job; I think it’s a little unreasonable for us to expect perfection. :)

Wouldn’t be 3 consecutive noon starts because NC St. is a 3:30 start.

3 consecutive HOME noon starts, assuming you call 12:30 noon—definitely close enough to noon

gtyj had a very good post earlier (diiferent blog) . Plus, I think we can find a deep kicker on scholarship (if not in the student body). Go Georgia Tech!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the NCST game this weekend start at 3:30pm? Two noon games, a 3:30 game, and then another noon game does not make three consecutive starts.

The ACC is killing GT ticket sales with three consecutive noon starts at home. Everybody knows that’s the most difficult kickoff time to sell tickets for, and those games historically are impossible to sell out at Tech. Maybe if we could get more favorable scheduling, we’d be able to fill up Bobby Dodd.

GT Ticket Office, you are right. I drive over from Augusta, and I will continue to do it, but I HATE noon starts. I am sure that most Tech fans from even further away hate it even more than I do. That being said, however, I met a guy who posts on here who drives over from Columbia, SC, which adds an hour more to the time it takes me. He made fun of me for complaining, so I guess I should shut up. LOL

Crap! Another game my family will miss because of conflicts with the kids fall ball schedule! I hate noon games! Really GT? Not a happy season ticket holder.

Typical Dawgs fans, they need to be worrying about their own team instead of Tech.

Alex,
You are truly not a worthy season ticket holder then!

Really GTFan? Family comes first and this is a family event we do every year and they love it.
