Georgia Tech 35, UNC 28

Greetings-

I’ve got to get cranking on a couple stories, but wanted to give everyone a chance to react. Three initial thoughts.

1) Georgia Tech was in a tight game for the first time, even trailing for most of the first quarter, and responded. The four-play, 61-yard drive for the go-ahead touchdown said plenty about the team’s ability to execute in the clutch.

2) Outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu has shown plenty of glimpses, but had a highlight-reel game Saturday, showing all manner of playmaking ability.

3) There was plenty to clean up from this game. I saw missed blocks, red-zone hiccups, missed tackles and poor kickoff coverage. Lots of room for improvement.

What do you think?

Thanks for reading. Please follow on Facebook and Twitter.

About #3: That sort of mess was expected after the level of competition was jacked up. Remember we were pretty sloppy in some areas in the season opener as well, but made improvements later on. Hope that trend continues, until our next competition jack up at Miami.

We barely had 20 more yards of offense than horrible UVA did last week against the same weak defense and they were at least on the road. The Johnson experiment is now officially over.

I’ll bet that NCSU will not be that sloppy for Tech.

Felt bad for Sweeting on that call…saw no H2H at all.

Glad to be 4-0….never had a 4.0 at Tech LOL.

@Not impressed: yeah, but what matters is points, not yards of offense. We doubled UVA’s output on that count, didn’t we? (and without defensive TD’s)

NOT IMPRESSED………………I guess we should not be surprised. You and the ladies are never impressed when you when you are around.
Hill dropping the Sure 50+ yrd TD really made this game seem closer than it should have been.

GT could have had 2 more TD’s. Something to be said for winning ugly. The defense came through at the end, Clock management at the end of the game was suspect. But 4-0 is 4-0, CPJ will clean up the mistakes and be ready for NCSU.

Clemson is looking great against FSU. FSU is playing a back-up QB.

not impressed…..That is about the dumbest post in a long time. Each game is different and is dictated by the circumstances and flow of the game. You need to watch more footbal lbefore accusing a team that has over 500 yrds on offense and then wins the game GEEZ!

Mark Bradley and i got in a Pi$$ing contest and he will not let me back. I called him a fool when he wast talking Expansion in college football. I didn’t even cuss him.

Met SUPERSIZE. Nice guy. I didn’t get to see him at the bus. Maybe next time.

FSU looks bad with the back-up QB.

If the players show up Tech should be 7-0 before the Clemson, Miami, VT stretch. This can be a special season. Especially now that the offense has rediscovered the forward pass. I thought it interesting to see Paul Johnson punting on the fourth and 5’s he went for the last three years. I have no complaints about the offense except the self inflected turnovers i.e. the interception that should have been thrown away, the fumble inside the 10 yard line, and in addition the dropped touchdown pass by Hill.

It’s the defense that concerns me. The good news is that they made plays on obvious passing downs to sack the quarterback. I continue to have concerns about the defensive line being blown of the line of scrimmage on some plays early and the confusion about passing coverages. We cannot still be allowing those easy yards by the time we get to the end of the year stretch. That being said the defense looks better than last year and if they cut down on the mistakes a great bowl game will be waiting for us.

ok,,we need Hill to be healthy and catching the ball like he’s done all year.Let’s hope his hamstring and his focus are intact. Defense ,while not “good” has moments, which is more than it had last year.Tevin has been nothing short of excellent,Sims looks more and more comfortable with each series,he could become a real weapon.Kudos to CPJ’s play calling this year, it just feels a bit more unpredictible,,after 4 games this is about all you could have asked for,,thats about all boys,,,you’re welcome

You would NEVER see the call against Sweeting for the hit in the SEC. RON CHERRY F………YO…….That was a BS call. Both lowered heads and were right on top of each other. That is a cll the SEC would not call.

Doesn’t matter. Just win the ACC and who cares what else happens.

Having a Month off after the end of the season is a JOKE. No BOWL games after Jan 1st unless it is a +1 for a true champion.

5150…you are right. I think the hit was legit. I don’t think it is good for the game to be so PC. Football is a physical sport and I don’t think the defense need to ol’lay just because the offensive player is aggressive. Aggressiveness belongs to the defense!!

Glad you met supersize. I hope to meet you both one game this year.

And! Was the D skitzgo or what?!

Defense

Special Teams was much better, cannot remember the last time we blocked a punt. If the kicker could kick deeper, most returns would be inside the 30, way better coverage than last year. Team handled the larger, more aggressive team that attacks the option, much like LSU and Iowa of years past. Stephen Hill can be special. Biggest challenge for him is his own mind and psyche, holds the freaking ball away from his body, has to stop!

IF……..IF Hill makes that TD catch add another 50 to make it 546 or so yards and 42 points then the missed FG maybe 45 points.

well, well, tech. Where’s that high flying offense? I thought for sure you’d score 50. But the O looked bad in the red zone, and the D looked bad in the 2nd half. You let those a-hole tarheels in the game ’till the 4th qtr. Good thing NCSt, MD, UVA all look more like Kansas than UNC.

TECH left 10 points on the field. Could have easily been 45 with 500+ yards.

500 yards is a bad offensive day? And last time I checked, they left 10 points for sure on the board, probably could have another 14…Wins a win. It was sloppy, but a win. And to be honest, the defense looked pretty darn consistent (28 points as opposed to 21 given up to MTSU? Can’t complain). This is probably one of the best defenses we face all year. Time to start getting ready to go to Raleigh.

Give em hell Tech!

Not on this one either. Ha! I have a feeling we’ll see him back as a Wolfpack fan so 5150 and supersize can put him in his place. I thoroughly enjoyed being at the game today and recommend it to you all who may not have made it. The place really gets into the games… Down in the south end (section 103) we could hear the resounding taunts of “ref you suk” from the north corner. Hilarious!

I must say I am enjoying this since I found it. Some of the remarks/comebacks to the dawg fans crack me up plus I enjoy the insightful opinions of the real fans. I haven’t been able to go to any games in a long time due to working so much the last 20 years and some physical problems that are being remedied now. I will be like a restored antique car and I intend to go to the games starting next year. I am so proud of the apparent resurgence of GT football I could burst. Now, if the b’ball team will do the same.
