Tech gets 3:30 p.m. start for N.C. State

Having won its first three games and earned a top-25 ranking, Georgia Tech will have widespread television exposure  for two consecutive weeks. ESPN announced Monday that it will give its 3:30 p.m. to the Yellow Jackets’ Oct. 1 game at N.C. State. The game will be carried on ABC regionally and ESPN elsewhere.

The Jackets’ Saturday game against North Carolina will be broadcast by ESPN at noon. The Tar Heels (3-0) are ranked No. 25 in the USA Today coaches poll, one spot below Tech. N.C. State (2-1) is unranked.

More exposure can only help with recruiting. Keep up the good work, guys.

Why can’t we get a non noon game kickoff at home seriously this always happens to us any away game is late afternoon or night but all the home games are at noon where is the love? It happened last year too all home games except uva(homecoming) were at noon while away games at wake forest, UGA, I think kansas was 330, and I think UNC also last year. Why can’t we get a night game at home?

I’ll take ESPN’s selection of a 3:30 Kick-Off for GT-NCST as
as good indication that ESPN expects GT to beat UNC this Saturday.

D21, congrats on coming to GT games. My personal streak of home game attendance is in it’s seventh season. I’m ready for the Jackets to, um, “pass” the test that UNC’s D will present. I think anyone who hasn’t seen this team play yet is missing out on one of the most impressive coaching performances in recent memory (not to mention a really exciting misdirection offense run crisply to perfection.) Being there for a historic win was WORTH IT! Saturday will be so much more exciting since we’ll see that these Jackets have what it takes to make serious waves in the conference!

GO JACKETS!

Yep, GT gets the shaft with football home game start times while the rest of the ACC gets the decent time slots. And DRad wonders why attendance is down at home games. ESPN does GT no favors starting this game at noon. The next time someone from GT’s ticket office contacts me about why I no longer purchase tickets, I’ll remind them which team gets the majority of noon time slots.

I hate noon games because I have to leave Augusta at 8AM. But I STILL buy season tickets, and I will continue to do so, no matter what time the games start. True fans don’t let any inconvenience get in the way.

Those complaining about the noon starts should consider the players, not just yourselves. The game time will work fine for them, particularly with getting medical treatment and classes. Finally, the longer the guys sit around waiting for the game, the more “amped up” they can get, which can be good or bad. It works well for some players and not so well for others.

Finally, an earlier start time works well for coaches when recruits are on campus because it gives them more time to spend with them one-on-one.

Not Disappointed!

Wow, sould be some good ACC games coming up
FSU looked real good Sat night, proved they could play with the best in the country. Oklahoma is for real, as is LSU
Georgia Tech looks real good – I love the way they are playing within the system. No one play to key on, Washington making the reads, Defense making the needed adjustments. Beating Kansas by 14 would have been nice but to blow them out says a lot
Clemson – Beat one of the best out of the SEC’s, very young team, (if they had SEC speed they would be even better). Their Frosh WR’s are something else.
Va Tech – Has not looked awesome, but very steady and sound.
Miami – Beat OSU after losing to Maryland, can play with anyone.
Maryland – Beat Miami, Has type of QB that can keep them in any game like NC St with Rivers
UNC – Solid with new coach

Going to be a wild year

The start time does not matter. Execute what has been practiced all week. Execute the game plan. Run that high school offense the way it’s meant to be played. No Mistakes and the Defense shows up, we win! Go Jacket! Nothing against UNC. “And that’s all I got to say about that”.

12 o’clock starts are bad for tailgating, I’ve heard. Just meet for brunch and drink mimosas. Pancakes and French toast would be good. Need to pass that along to the guys planning to meet in Athens, too.

From Tim Tucker’s blog:

“CoachesHotSeat.com has No. 1 (Nutt) and No. 3 (Richt) in its latest college-football hot-seat rankings. UCLA’s Rick Neuheisel is No. 2.”

Given Neuheisel’s previous history, I’m surprised he’s lasted this long even at his alma mater.

Here’s some quoted material from International Business Times by John Talty:

“Notre Dame’s movement plus Texas’ unknown destination is going to leave the ACC in a holding pattern for at least a little bit. The conference might move to grab Rutgers, especially if it hears word of the Big 10 making a move at the New Jersey school, but UConn might be a different story.

“While the school does help the conference dominate even more of the Eastern seaboard, it doesn’t bring the television markets that Rutgers does. Multiple Big East programs could make arguments for owning the New York television market, including Connecticut, Rutgers, and Syracuse, but Rutgers’ closer proximity to the No. 1 television market gives it a bit of an advantage.”

I’m not sure that writer has any more credibility than us posters on this blog. Notre Dame, not Rutgers captures the NYC market.

> Notre Dame, not Rutgers captures the NYC market.

As someone living in NYC (upper east side manhattan), college football is NOT a huge deal here. I’d say 1 in 20 guys or so care and the most common school they care about is ND if they don’t have an alma mater affiliation. Professional football and baseball are considerably more popular.
