A day after being listed as doubtful, Roddy Jones was back in the lineup Tuesday.
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said that the senior A-back will play in the Yellow Jackets’ season opener Thursday night against Western Carolina.
Johnson was speaking on his radio show Tuesday night from its new location at the Hudson Grille in Midtown. Monday, Johnson listed Jones as doubtful, saying he was “dinged up.”
Jones, who has been selected as one of three captains by coaches for Thursday’s game, has missed only one game in his career and started all of the other 39.
Johnson also said on the show, broadcast on 790 the Zone, that he knows “what’s in my mind right now” regarding the possibility of playing true freshman quarterback Vad Lee, but that it could change. Lee is third on the depth chart behind starter Tevin Washington and backup Synjyn Days, both of whom will play Thursday.
“Vad is way ahead of where we thought he would be, and I think he’s a talented young man, and we’ll see,” Johnson said.

GT Alum: He is a nice young man, which is why I didn’t call him a thug like I would the majority of Tech athletes. He is probably one of the few I would feel comfortable having a conversation with and not worried about keeping my hand on my wallet.
I get why Tech fans are so high on him given the fact they have very little else to choose from, but my point is not to get too far ahead of themselves. Most of the tech trolls on here believe every tech athlete will either become the great professional athlete ever, or get a job at NASA, and you and I both know neither is very a practical possibility.

I believe two of the biggest academic scandals in the history of college sports were the Jan Kemp affair and the Jim Harrick (how many points in a 3-point basket) affair. Both of those happened in Athens, bubba.

Having personally met Roddy and worked with him in the classroom he is a very smart man and has gotten where he’s gotten based off his own hard work. This is true for the classroom, the football field, and the work world. Although not reported, Roddy, along with other Tech players at other jobs, spent this summer working an internship at Sprint. He won’t be flipping burgers unless its on his own grill at home.

ok, so let me get this straight.
Miami guys acknowledge they took benifits and all they got were suspensions. BUT, they cooperated.(by admitting they were guilty)
NCAA couldn’t find evidence that Thomas did anything, told him he was eligible to play, but just because they told Drad not the tell the friggin Coach(which is the dumbest thing I”ve ever heard) then we are not cooperating and lose a ACCC and get probation.
How does this remotely make any sense?
