Uzzi named preseason All-ACC; Nesbitt to Bills

Georgia Tech guard Omoregie Uzzi was named to the preseason All-ACC team Wednesday, the only Yellow Jackets player on the squad. Uzzi, a second-team All-ACC selection last fall, received 21 votes out of 51 ballots turned in by media members at the ACC football kickoff event earlier this week in Pinehurst, N.C.
Uzzi was just one of four non-seniors on the team and the only Tech player selected. A junior, Uzzi helped Georgia Tech lead the nation in rushing last season. He was also recently named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy, which goes to the outstanding interior lineman in the country.
Uzzi has become a leader for Tech’s young and inexperienced line.
“Omoregie’s a guy with more experience than anybody else (on the line),” coach Paul Johnson said Monday. “Hopefully, he’ll lead by example.”

Also, former Tech quarterback Joshua Nesbitt is close to signing with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent. The Bills are coached by former Tech coach Chan Gailey, who recruited him to Tech. A year ago, Gailey signed former Tech offensive lineman Cord Howard as an undrafted rookie. Howard made the team and ended up starting four games in 2010. Former Tech defensive back Mario Butler has joined the Dallas Cowboys.

Other possibilities include safety Jerrard Tarrant, offensive tackle Nick Claytor, linebacker Brad Jefferson and running back Lucas Cox.

@dawgmatic, I struggle to understand your intent to use the word Nerd in a negative tense. First of all, I am not a Nerd. But in my observation across the country, Nerds get the best paying jobs, the sexiest women, party just as hard as, what, ignoramuses like you? In summary, Nerds can do everything you do but you can’t live where they live, date who they date nor associate on there level. Instead of using the word Nerds as an insult. Consider using a picture of yourself, that’s insulting.

that is exactly what Chan Gailey should do, Nesbitt signed to play for him at GT and Chan knows what he is about..also thought Chan should have drafted Dwyer over Spiller knowing what he knows about him. Dwyer would have been your man Chan

Dawgmatic, I suggest you lay low with the name calling. Take a look in the mirror. For every nerd at Tech, there are 10 rednecks at UGA. I guess if you like rednecks, you went to the right school.

I went to UGA and have always respected the way Josh Nesbitt played. He had great command of his huddle and offense and he is tough as nails. Despite what most people believe, he is actually a good passer and in the right system can be an NFL QB. I am really glad the Dawgs don’t have to face him anymore and wish him much success.

How did Gailey get the HC position for an NFL job, after he was fired from a 2nd tier college one?

Talk about “FAILING UPWARDS”…

Richt couldn’t land a HC position in NFL, and he is much better than Gailey— better record, tougher conference.

They should use Nez as a rb. He has that talent. He developed the qb yips for passing. He passed ok to Thomas, and then got the yips, just like a golfer who gets yips and can no longer putt.
