Radakovich “entrenched” at Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich denied a report that Tennessee was interested in making him their next athletic director.

Volquest.com, a website devoted to Tennessee athletics, reported on Friday that the Volunteers were interested in hiring Radakovich as their athletic director until the NCAA report came out on Thursday in which the Yellow Jackets were stripped of their 2009 ACC championship in football, put on four years of probation and fined $100,000. In the report, the NCAA said that Tech tried to manipulate player interviews with investigators and that Radakovich had improper conversations with football coach Paul Johnson regarding an on-going investigation.

Radakovich’s name has been linked in the past to many openings, including the a.d. job at Miami.

“I don’t know where this comes from,” Radakovich said. “I’ve never spoken to Tennessee. I’ve got enough on my plate here. I wish them well with whatever they are looking to do.”

To eliminate any nuance, Radakovich said that neither he, nor anyone representing him, has spoken to Tennessee, or anyone representing the Vols, about any position in Knoxville.

Radakovich said on Thursday that he is entrenched in Atlanta and hopes to work at the Institute for as long as President G.P. Peterson will allow.

Um, ah, uh, .........name one bowl or ACC Championship that CPJ has won

July 16th, 2011
3:28 pm

CPJ is not looking good using the above math friends. He has not performed at the highest levels . He has been befuddled in all three bowl games and Iowa, a team of slow, white boys whupped GT up and down the field in front of 31,000 Iowan snow birds. GT in the first half had 21 total yards!!!!! Dwyer had -26 !!! Nesbitt – 16 !!!

CMR has at least been in 3 Sugar Bowls, two Cap One bowls and he has won three titles in the SEC with two overall SEC championships. He did finish # 2.

CPJ? Has not won anything of worth in the ACC. Look at his official record, math boy.

Clemson? I did not name Clemson because unlike LSU, Iowa and UGA and VaTech
(keep in mind UGA spotted Hokies about 24 before we roared back to stomp them in the Chic Fil A Bowl) and Miami and FSU have been CONSISTENTLY good to very good over the last few many years. 15? +

UGA was awful in two of the last 15 -18 years BUT is STILL one of the top 10 or 12 winning prgrams over the last 15 + years and ALL TIME # 4 in bowl wins.
Clemson? What have they done in 31 years?

Besides …………….. the world knows that the CPJ wishbone only works well vs Furman or Chattannoga U or Elon College or U of Charleston, etc.that do not have Defensive side depth which is a key. CPJ knows that it works in small boy ball but in the low to mid low level ACC it is a 5-6 system at best.

Afterall, CPH has YET TO WIN anything in the ACC ………………..NOW LOOK at his rec ord Yellow Jackets. Howdaya like him now????????????????Hmmm???

Enoy your THIRD PROBATION in like 23 years GT !!!

One thing that seems to have escaped everybody’s notice here, although maybe the dawg fans are just ignoring it, is that the final 3 games of 2009 were VACATED. That means, win or lose, they were “never played.” So that means that the dawgs did not beat the Jackets in 2009, and CPJ’s record against CMR is OFFICIALLY 1-1. Pretty small consolation, but still…….

About three days ago Dan Radakovich was using Georgia Tech as a stepping stone.

I think that little career plan just took a dramatic u-turn. It’s going to be a while before a school bigger than Tech offers him a job. The way he handled a fairly simple issue was a huge error in judgment.

Oddly, he doesn’t yet seem to understand that.

I am an attorney. If a judge were to tell me not to tell someone something I would damn sure not tell them. I don’t care what my future relationship would be with whoever I witheld the information from. In this case the relationship of DRAD to the NCAA was very similar to a judge/attorney relationship. i.e. you don’t screw with them under any circumstances or your credibility will be forever blown. It also appears that the attorney hired by Tech got them in a lot of trouble also. I am a Ga grad with 2 ex-wives who were Tech graduates. Great gals who gave their all on the field of play. Can’t help it now if I was young and a you know what. Love UGA and think a lot of Tech. I would love to see one of my kids go there.

My point is this. DRAD violated the most basic of policies in any professional setting. Always tell the truth and your word is your bond. I am sure he told the investigator that he would keep the information private. He did not and the investigator got blasted by his boss. I find it shameful that DRAD still has a job.

This is a minor violation that resulted in huge penalties due to your incompetence, arrogance, and untruthfullness. I can’t imagine a much bigger screwup for an AD than this.

Make your mind up. Is Iowa an athletic team (as you claimed in your 11:03 and 3:41 posts) or a “team of slow white boys” (as you posted at 3:28)?

What Iowa is

July 16th, 2011
9:08 pm

What Iowa is …………is a team that was slow but they athletically manhandled GT’s silly lil middle school O.

Clear now? One more point ……………GT is AGAIN HUMILIATED because they are just like the Atlanta school system …………………thugs, liars and chears.

Is this the third or fourth NCAA Jail House for y’all in 23 years?? Wow. CHEATERS and THUGS ………………just like on Ethel Street.

Nothing to show for it either. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHA

What vacating means

July 16th, 2011
9:13 pm

To the sad, illiterate, dateless punk that suggested for GT to vacate a game was to suggest that UGA did not win in 09 vs GT, so UGA did not get that win. Sad.

No moron …………………..GT LOST that 09 UGA game like they have maybe 15 or 16 or 17 times over 20 years vs UGA and maybe 24 or 25 times over 30 years. A loss is NOT vacated …………….moron …….only wins LIKE THE 2009 ACC TITLE GAME. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

It is time to add the years up and review

July 16th, 2011
9:20 pm

Counting Bobby Dodd in 1967 and all the way to this date, GT has employed maybe 9 or maybe 10, 11 football coaches in like 43 years. Sad. LOOK IT UP FOOLS.

Dodd, Carson,Fulcher, Lewis, Curry, Carson, Ross, CPJ, O’Leary w/ his FALSE RESUME and one or two other losers like Pepper Rodgers and a few more that I cannot recall. That IS sad for a program so proud until about 1960.

That works out to be a new coach every 4 years or so and CPJ is nearing that fateful 4th year at GT. If he does not win 5 or 6 games, you all will can him and it will start all over. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

No more 9 out of 10

@What vacating means … sorry, bubba, but vacating means the same for a loss that it means for a win. If a player is ineligible to play and still plays (which is what the all-knowing NCAA) is claiming, then it is the same as never having played the game. It is NOT a forfeiture, which would be what you are claiming—-in fact, the game does not count. So, silly as it may be (and I grant that it is silly), UGA cannot claim that as a win. In the same sense, Clemson cannot claim to have beat Tech in Tampa. As far as the NCAA is concerned, the game never happened, and Clemson wins the ACC championship by default.

The Ncaa can’t bring closure to the football factory school investigations so they pick on a weak victim to validate their existence. Really, all of this BS over 312 dollars? Someone needs to punch these jack asses between the eyes..

If there is an appeal process, they need to use it. Outlandish penelties for minor infractions. Someone at the NCAA got their nose out of joint and Tech is paying a heavy price.

To the moron that is suggesting GT’s vacating of certain games is for UGA to NOT COUNT the 09 pistol whipping of them. Ok, yeah right. Dumb this moron is. Public school boy??

Moron …………………was it GT that was handed this humiliating NCAA sentence or UGA???

No, the 2009 stomping of GT and CPJ will be on UGA’s books. They were not mentioned in the CHEATING inquiry ……………….only GT and their scandalous cheating ……………like Atlanta public schools are. Failures, along with Marta and Obama ……………aka THE JOKER.

Fair Play

UGA sat AJ Green preemptively and cooperated with the investigation. We took a season on the chin, limped off, and to hopefully rebound this season. Tech on the other hand, played ineligible players, STILL LOST to UGA then won the Another Crap Conference Title and followed that up with a stink of an Orange Bowl game against Iowa. Sucks when you cheat and still lose to UGA and in your big time bowl game in the spot light! Tech graduates are the only people who think they have any integrity. Tech has proved to be an elite technical school when a $312 mistake turns into major violation. Only the North Avenue Trade School could figure out an equation to fit that!

While I’m certainly not a Tech fan nor an attorney, I would think that GT has a pretty good case against the NCAA. Things like “due process”, “legal representation”, “intimidation”, and “habeas corpus” comes to mind…but, what do I know.

As a lifelong Tech fan, alumni and season ticket holder I am absolutely disgusted by this continuing criminal behavior at my beloved alma mater.

Vacating wins again? In less than 10 years? We need to send a message ourselves to let the NCAA and other programs across the country know that this is not what we are about.

We should dissolve both the football and basketball programs for a 5 year period to let everyone know we are serious.

You guys crack me up on how good you think you are and how your season really ends up. You will be lucky to become bowl eligible this year. Reality check is this…UGA has become the laughing stock of the SEC……period

@ Dawg Creator -

Last I checked, UGA has about a 26 win advantage against your cheating thugs; and even that includes the 3 games where it was known Yech used non Yech students on the field.

The SEC is the NFL of college of CFB while the ACC is the girls freshman team.

Enjoy vacating unearned wins yet again; tool, and choke on it.

The NCAA representative had no right to ask Radakovich to not discuss the inquiry with the head coach. We are still citizens of the US where the accused has every right to know that he is being investigated. As usual the NCAA overstepped its bounds in what could have been a minor problem. I believe that the NCAA has many more important problems including their own organization which should demand their attention.
Incidentally, I have no attachments to Ga Tec.

One way to look at this scandal GT fans

July 19th, 2011
2:59 pm

I have a long time pal living up in Badger country in the Milwaukee area. He and I email almost every other day …………. both retired from the same firm. He is a huge
college football fan and BIg 10 fan and U of Wisconsin Badger man all the way. He hates me when UGA stomps his boys every so often in the Cap One Bowl or the Outback Bowl like we have about 3 or 4 times over the last 12-14 years.

Anway, he is simply not really schooled on the GT NCAA scandal beyond a blirp on TV and he is “unaware that GT has really any major history since the 1950s”. He does recall Bobby Dodd’s era, back in the 50s when he was a 6th grade or 7th grade middle school kid. He does recall an Orange Bowl stomping of GT in 2010 by a “slow Iowa team” but beyond that……………”GT has no real major bowl history”, he said.

Nationally, GT is just an unknown, folks. Rejoice in this fact …………… because, unless they live in Fulton County, or maybe Cobb or Dekalb, no one even cares about GT sports. Besides, in China or Sri Lanka or India or Vietnam, they do not play our brand of football, so even the great % of the GT students could care less.

See ?? The glass IS 1/2 full.
