Charlie Sheen announced his arrival in Atlanta via Twitter: "I'm extremely honored that CNN has changed it's name to 'Charlie News Network'" (Special photo)
Charlie Sheen almost hit a home run in Atlanta on Thursday.
No, we’re not talking about his “Violent Torpedo of Truth” show scheduled for Thursday night.
#WINNING (Sheen) showed up to work out with Georgia Tech’s baseball team for nearly three hours on Thursday afternoon. It was arranged after ex-major leaguer Todd Zeile contacted Tech baseball coach Danny Hall.
“He was very engaging, about as nice you he could be,” Tech spokesman Dean Buchan said. “He interacted with our players and coaches. I think he had a good time in the batting cage. He came close to hitting one out. He hit about six right up to the wall, but couldn’t quite punch it over.”
Sheen wasn’t done after BP. He grabbed a mitt and took some ground balls and fly balls in the field.
Before leaving, Sheen gave some high fives, took pictures and chatted briefly with several Tech baseball players. We’re not sure yet what was said, but it had the players smiling and laughing.
Then Sheen, ever the showman, saw that around 100 people had gathered around the field to watch him. Sheen walked outside to the crowd, engaged in conversation, and took tons of pictures that will be showing up on Facebook at any minute.
Earlier in the day, Sheen announced his arrival in Atlanta on Twitter: “Just arrived in Atlanta! I’m extremely honored that CNN has changed it’s name to ‘Charlie News Network’ for the next 24 hours!! epic!”
Did you get your photo taken with Sheen at Georgia Tech? If so, we’d love to see the photo. CLICK HERE to upload.

2 years ago, Danny Hall had a player die of a drug overdose during the season. This year, he had a player arrested for DUI. Today, Danny thinks that it is a good idea to bring a crack head on campus to hang out with his team that should be getting ready for a big ACC series tomorrow. Danny should be released as soon as he chokes in a another regional at home to a #3 seed next month. I actually have more respect for Jack Leggett than Choke Hall right now.

I cannot believe they allowed this brain addled sick person to work out with a college team. What person thought this was a good idea? I totally agree with Mark Crisp. Of course, being a Georgia fan, I am getting a big laugh at GT over this.

Don’t really see what the big deal is. Sheen obviously isn’t a great role model but that doesn’t mean he is pure evil. Sounds like the team had a fun time (which is good for morale) and that Sheen gave them a decent pep talk.
Most of the PR about it has been reasonably positive so I don’t think it was a bad idea even from a PR standpoint. Some people really need to lighten up.

Man…what a bunch of uptight sacks….lighten up Francis! College sports is stressful enough and I highly doubt that Sir Charles will infuence the moral fiber of these young men. I can see the headlines 10 years from now…”Ex-Tech player blames Charlie Sheen visit for his downfall”. Gimme a break you goofballs!
HA! These young men are in college!!! They are all Sheens. Just like you should have been if you didn’t have your nose in a book while the good times passed you by. This is from a UGA fan….the kids will be alright. Let boys be boys for at least a couple of hours. If they were raised right they’ll see Charlie Sheen for what he is.

Bad move GT the guy is a loser, known Coke sniffer, beats his wife, great influence to have around the team. Whom ever invited him should be fired. remember you ran off Joe for less than what this goober is all about. I heard next week you invited Lawrence Taylor another outstanding citizen.

Way to use your FINANCIAL INFLUENCE to try and threaten Georgia Tech’s Baseball Program. You’ll think long and hard when it comes to supporting them….who the !%&*# do you think you are!!! If it weren’t for that UNIVERSITY you wouldn’t have received the education that has obviously made you some CASH!!! You must be some TYPE “A” moron who has absolutely NO SENSE OF HUMOR!!! Hey guys, I’m pretty sure that while 18-24 year olds are impressionable, they got all of ONE DAY with the man. And they know he’s crazy. I doubt our team is out tonight doing lines with the intent to blink and cure themselves.
Take it for what it is. A really crazy moment for everyone involved and a memory for the kids which brings a little of the spotlight to Tech. You don’t have to be a Charlie Sheen fan (do those exist?) to lighten up and see that this is not going to kill anyone. OD’ing might, but that’s not contagious!

I think we have no excuse not to take the series.

CERTAINLY not a ‘proud’ moment for Tech, but it’s not scandalous, either. Looks like the players enjoyed having him there and I DOUBT that any of them ‘look up’ to Sheen enough to be influenced by him. Nothing more than a photo op! If ANYONE is to be embarrassed…it’s CNN…Charlie News Network?! Not THAT’S embarrassing!!!

Holy crap people. These kids are in college. Tell me what college kid wouldn’t love to meet Charlie Sheen at least once, just to say he/she did it? My gosh, Sheen came onto campus while he was in town and decided to go say whats up to the baseball team, because he is, in fact, a baseball fan (he did Major League for a reason). Can’t blame the kids for wanting to have a little fun during BP. And last time I checked, they were 8th in the country in batting average (.321), so having a little fun with finals around the corner allows the players not only to stay loose but have something to tell their kids one day.
Give it a rest. And to counter how I would feel if he was on UGA’s campus, I would feel the same way, especially with what has happened with the poor kid’s injuries and the lackluster season they have having. Just keep things light hearted guys. He’s not a criminal. Morally unsound? Sure. But its all fun and baseball is just a game. Don’t lose sight of that.
Finally, for the people who think Georgia Tech is “racist”, DeAndre Smelter was signed out of Tattnall Square and was actually drafted in the 14th round by the Twins. Chevez Clarke also signed with Georgia Tech, but got drafted Angels and went to the MLB. Roddy Jones was also supposed to be a two sport athlete, but decided to stay with football instead of baseball. Just to squash that talk.

I guess having Charlie Sheen hang around the baseball team is consistent with Danny Hall’s record of lack of control over his baseball team. See DUI pass for Jake Skole and the death of a former player from a drug overdose. You can make light of this if you want, but this sets a poor example for the players and the school.

Like all gifted artists, Sheen is troubled and self-destructive. He is also a wicked genius who refuses to play by the politically correct rules of a watered down, emasculated society. The reason he is the most famous man in the world right now is not because of his fall from grace (he was never that graceful). It is because he has been able to channel his demons into creating unique and expressive art. When we are all dead and buried, Sheen will be remembered as one of the five greatest comedic actors of all time.

Why does he have no business on campus? Please, enlighten me. So its okay for college kids to go to strip clubs and do drugs and drink and whatever, but not Charlie Sheen? Good lord, get over yourselves. Danny Hall had nothing to do with the poor boy who ODed and Matt Skole was dealt with. Sorry it wasn’t on the news for everyone to hear.
What I don’t understand is, how is it different between Charlie Sheen at Tech and Wiz Khalifa having a concert at Emory?

Apparently Sheen wore a Falcons jersey onstage last night, and then replaced it with a Tech baseball jersey. According to the AJC, he got alot of boo’s from UGA fans in attendance. The report indicated he was confused by the reaction, unaware of the rivalry.
I guess Charlie, like the rest of the nation, is basically unaware of the existence of our special needs cousins to the northeast. Also interesting that there apparently were enough UGA fans in attendance to make a recognizable noise. You guys are right Sheen is an embarrassment to Tech, but mainstream entertainment for UGA fans.

Charlie is funny and a NICE guy. If half of the people hating him could have MADE LOVE to 1/10th of the women he was with you guys would be happy. I don’t care for the continued drug used in to adulthood. I put down the pot in my early 20s after graduating and having to get a REAL job. The Guy LOVES. I mean LOVES baseball and I am glad he had a chance to get in some BP with the Tech players. I don’t expect him to be a role model, but he is rich and famous(infamous) so he can afford to have fun. I hope the Goddesses were with him too. I know the Tech Players would have been happy for that fact.

I don’t know about FORMER UGA coeds. From the UGA females I have seen at the games. Most get fat and UGLY fast after they leave UGA. You need to get a UGA coed when they are still fast and loose so to speak. They seem to have to much MILEAGE on them shortly after graduation or their 25th birthday. It is like some kind of UGA female expiration date.
