Charlie Sheen takes BP with Georgia Tech’s baseball team

Charlie Sheen announced his arrival in Atlanta via Twitter: "I'm extremely honored that CNN has changed it's name to 'Charlie News Network'" (Special photo)

Charlie Sheen almost hit a home run in Atlanta on Thursday.

No, we’re not talking about his “Violent Torpedo of Truth” show scheduled for Thursday night.

#WINNING (Sheen) showed up to work out with Georgia Tech’s baseball team for nearly three hours on Thursday afternoon. It was arranged after ex-major leaguer Todd Zeile contacted Tech baseball coach Danny Hall.

“He was very engaging, about as nice you he could be,” Tech spokesman Dean Buchan said. “He interacted with our players and coaches. I think he had a good time in the batting cage. He came close to hitting one out. He hit about six right up to the wall, but couldn’t quite punch it over.”

Sheen wasn’t done after BP. He grabbed a mitt and took some ground balls and fly balls in the field.

Before leaving, Sheen gave some high fives, took pictures and chatted briefly with several Tech baseball players. We’re not sure yet what was said, but it had the players smiling and laughing.

Then Sheen, ever the showman, saw that around 100 people had gathered around the field to watch him. Sheen walked outside to the crowd, engaged in conversation, and took tons of pictures that will be showing up on Facebook at any minute.

Earlier in the day, Sheen announced his arrival in Atlanta on Twitter: “Just arrived in Atlanta! I’m extremely honored that CNN has changed it’s name to ‘Charlie News Network’ for the next 24 hours!! epic!”

Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.

Mark Crisp – loosen up, old man. I graduated from GT in the mid-70’s and I have to admit that this does put a grin on my face. Don’t know you, MC, but I would wager that if EVERYTHING in your life is not completely to your liking, then your face assumes an expression as if your shoes were 2 sizes too small. Loosen up, old bean. The next day is right ahead of you. Enjoy and appreciate it. Otherwise, go pound sand.

Not only does D A DoubleU G have OCD when it comes to GT but in his 8:48PM post he now shows delusions of grandeur. What can you say about a post that contains this gem:

“I am always ashamed to have you Techies living and studying in my state of Georgia…… ”

We are all – Techies, Dawgs, Barners, Tree Killers, Vols, Seminoles, et al – living in D A DoubleU G’s “state of Georgia”.

Charlie Sheen is in town to display and attempt to glamorize his pathetic lifestyle.

And he goes and hangs out with the Tech baseball team as a PR stunt.

This is truly embarrassing for Tech.

Worm, black kids don’t play much baseball these days. That is sad but true. Charlie Sheen is an actor, this whole thing is a big skit for publicity. Can you say Jauquin Phoenix? It is not like he slipped into the locker room and stole all the player’s iPhones or something.

D A DoubleU G, by his own admission, is a current UGA student with time on his hands. And what does he spend his Thursday evening doing? Is he down at the local bar drinking beer and watching the NBA on TV? Visiting the local sorority and hitting on the members? Visiting a club?
None of the above – he’s spending hours posting on a blog about Charlie Sheen visiting GT.

Sheen isn’t that stupid, apparently. The Institute of Technology has people of sufficient IQ in the chem labs to make whatever drug the dope fiend wants.

I’ll answer you DA,

It was a horrible idea. We actually see eye to eye on this. I don’t care for Charlie Sheen, and I certainly don’t care for the message he is out on the road preaching at the moment.

I think this was an irresponsible move by Coach Hall.

I would personally like an explanation as to why this took place, and for somebody at Georgia Tech to acknowledge that this may not have been the best PR move.

Good answer??

I’ll take the bait, DA. As I said before, this was a nice diversion for the team which they appear to have mildly enjoyed. That’s why it was a good idea. Other than that, its a non-event. You’re desperate to make it something more than it is, but you come off looking like a droopy-eyed, armless child. In your case, can’t is the cancer of happen.

This is great news for athletes at Tech! Now they can snort all the cocaine they want, hang around with porn stars in public, and shoot off automatic weapons, and it’s all perfectly OK! Maybe Paul Johnson could invite Pacman Jones to practice to toss around the old pigskin.

D A Doubledouche – Good Reason #1: Addressing the GT players, Charlie said “Fight until you can’t fight no more. You are going to lie down and bleed awhile. You are going to get up; fight some more. You are never a looser until you quit trying.” Charlie made many references to a “straight and narrow path of life.” He also mentioned the importance of not spending any free-time in the Clarke County jail, otherwise known as the UGA student-athlete dormitory.
