Tarrant rolls at NFL Combine

Former Georgia Tech safety Jerrard Tarrant is off to a good start at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind.

Among the 10 safeties, he is listed as a top performer in all of the events that have been posted on nfl.com/combine:

4th in the 40…………..4.62 seconds

5th in the bench…….14 reps of 225

5th in the vertical…..33 inches

7th in the broad………9 feet, 6 inches

4th in the 3-cone drill..6.92 seconds

7th in the 20-yard shuttle….4.21 seconds

4th in the 60-yard shuttle….11.51 seconds

Tarrant, 6-1, 205 pounds, is projected as a mid-round selection by the draft analysts at ESPN. He left school after his redshirt junior year in which he had 55 tackles, recovered three fumbles and intercepted three passes.

As a cornerback in 2009, he recovered two fumbles and had two interceptions.

Tarrant could also make a splash in the NFL on special teams. He returned two punts for touchdowns in 2009.

Some NFL teams may have questions about the legal issue Tarrant experienced early in his Tech career when he was charged with rape. Those charges were later dropped.

It’s a darn shame JT’s side of that story can’t be – or, for whatever reason, isn’t – shared in the media, even though everyone knows what actually happened.

Tech will miss him in 2011 more than they think.

I’m not an NFL general manager, nor do I play one on TV, but I think Tarrant could be a good pro because he makes plays. No matter the position, corner, safety or punt returner, when the ball is near him something good usually happened.

As you said, Charges were dropped. Just seems like a very awkward and inconsequential way to end the piece.

Jerrard is in line for a late 4th to early 6th Round choice at this time, depending on his interviews. If he does well, and his pro day goes well, he may go as high as the 3rd round.

He should have played one more year at Tech—would have raised his stock for the NFL and perhaps completed his degree as good insurance in case of injury in the NFL.

I have no idea what Tarrant did or did not do. I do know that if he happened to play for UGA he would be human “thug” trash according to Tech fans. You hypocrites would call him every name in the book. Hell, Ealey hits a parked car and Tech fans call him names. This just in: Techies are a joke.

Thanks.

Can you imagine if the Tech baseball player who got a DUI a few days ago had been a UGA football player?

Oh the indignation !!!

Instead we got a short story with no place to comment.

Double standard. You betcha.

Just think Central Florida, Boise State. The Dawgs have so many new daddies they can`t keep track.

I used to be Georgia got beat by quality programs, now it is just whoever walks in. Imagine the dawgs may play Coastal Carolina close.

Is Richt still recruiting the penal system in Florida?

Tarrant could have used another year in college to sharpen his skills. Nobody ever questioned his talent, but his skills and defensive abilities were more of the “all or nothing” sort. Either he was returning INT’s for TD’s or getting burned for them. Not sure why he felt the need to come out early but I wish him the best…

Oh that’s rich Tokyo Jacket. So the charges were dropped, eh? Please tell me, of all the UGA players that were arrested last year, how many of them have actually been convicted of anything? I guess that whole innocent until proven guilty thing only applies to Tech football players. That’s the double standard to end all double standards.

We had one “thug” who wouldn’t give his middle name to police and was charged with obstruction. Once it was discovered that the poor guy didn’t actually have a middle name the police publicly acknowledged it was a misunderstanding and the charge was dropped. Nevertheless, the AJC and Techies continue to add this incident to our infamous arrest count.

But Tarrant is doing just swell at the combine!!! Thanks for the info Techie..um, I mean Doug.

What a joke.

The point, dog fans, is that it just goes on and on at UGA. We have a few, you have bunches. Your program is built on the shoulders of Odell Thurmond and the like. We know it and you know it. Richt is doing better but only after the school was embarassed into doing so. As he is quoted as saying, ” ..you have to do some of these to compete in the SEC.”

Coach, the point is that Tech fans are stuck up sanctimonious holier than thou a-hole hypocrites with no integrity. Sure, we’ve got you beat on the overall arrest count. Its not hard when UGA Barney Fifes are taking people in for hitting parked cars and not giving them a middle name that doesn’t exist. I’m not making excuses. It is what it is. But you pukes have players arrested for RAPE and DRUG TRAFFIKING and then have the nerve to call our players thugs. Keep your big mouths shut and we’ve got no problems bro. Run your mouths and we’re going to call you on your hypocritical BS pal. You’ve got your own problems to deal with.

Techies, what’s up with that guy who slammed his girlfriend’s head in to a wall? I think his name was Robert Hall. I know that strict disciplinarian Johnson suspended him for an entire game. Is he at the combine too? I’m sure Doug will let us know if he cracks the top 10 in the shuttle run or has an impressive broad jump mark. I can’t wait to find out.

Thanks.

@DawgFan “Techies, what’s up with that guy who slammed his girlfriend’s head in to a wall? I think his name was Robert Hall.”

Wrong – it was not a wall, it was a door. He didn’t slam her head, he slammed the door. All charges were cleared, Johnson suspended him because of the charges, once he was cleared and charges were dropped Johnson let him back on the team.

Saban,

I gave this advice to some other trolls and now I give it yo you.

Instead of posting the same old UGA spew every day, save yourself some time.

Make a list of the 20 typical UGA stereotypical crapola sayings you trolls repeat every day.

Number the list 1 to 20.

Then, instead of typing it out, just reference a number.

It is the way they tell jokes in the old folks homes and prisons to save time and energy.

dawgfan,

thats 2 players you’ve named from the past decade. I believe you have had 12 arrested in the past 6 months? plus or minus a few?

an arrest is an arrest. the law is black and white (contrary to y’alls belief that its black and red). break it, get arrested. Where is the confusion in Athens? It must be that:

“sanctimonious holier than thou a-hole hypocrites with no integrity,” thing that was brought up. Otherwise, would you belive you were above the law? again, discussion over. I’d tell you to electrocute yourself, but the dawg blood line will take care of you by itself.

Being a UGA(g) fan, you would know what goes on inside prisons wouldn’t you?

And a resounding (if you know what that means), “no,” to the list. This blog has turned into who is the more criminal school. Considering there is a FAIR and UNBIASED system to determine this, deemed the Fulmer Cup, which your severely underachieving illegitimate kids won last year hands down, there is NO ARGUING from you all. The fact of the matter is that YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT, your scum constantly think they are above the law. Are we through here?

You Techies just don’t get it do you? It isn’t about the players you effing morons. Its about YOU. UGA fans don’t pretend that all of our football players are perfect little angels that sing in the church choir and study quantum physics when they aren’t playing football like you do. We’ve got problems. We don’t need you self-righteous pukes to tell us that. Ealey is a moron. A thug? No, but definitely a moron. You’ve got problems too. Robert Hall, Tarrant, Houston, the baseball player. All you ever do is make excuses. If you lose a football game you make excuses. If one of your football players beats up his girlfriend you make excuses for him. “It wasn’t a wall. It was a door.” LMAO. Classic. Then you turn around and call our players thugs. You’re just a disgrace and a total joke. Nobody has any respect for you.
