Four Jackets honored for grades by ACC

Four Georgia Tech football players were named to the All-ACC Academic team today.
Roddy Jones, Scott Blair, Logan Walls and Will Jackson were honored. It was Jones’ third time being honored.
Players must earn at least a 3.0 grade point average in the previous semester, and maintain a 3.0 cumulative avaerage to be considered.

So Roddy is a key member of the football team. Played some baseball also, and has been all conference in academics for 3 years? That’s pretty impressive. He has a bright future.

Reggie is on the SEC list. Remember, he “secretly” played for UGA. He just wore a Tech uniform to do it!

givemeabreak,

No academic team, but they win a lot of football games…… It’s great that these guys are true students as well as football players………. But hey, I would like to win more football games, and when your graduation rates are what they are, I wouldn’t even bring up the academic part…. These kids are for the most part here to play football, yes there are exceptions, and if we were graduating 90 percent or higher then that would be something to be proud…. We are graduating 1/2 and we are still losing….

gt4ever, I think it’s great that Tech only graduates 50 percent of its football players. If it graduated the 90 percent you quote, then it would mean Tech was a diploma mill. Our curriculum has rigor and that’s a good thing.

If you want to play football and graduate then do what Truitt did and go to Notre Dame. They Pass all Athletes and keep them playing. They only have 196 Black males on campus but they graduate.

Great job, congrats to all of you! I will be heading to take a job with Americorp in April (but I still renewed my season tickets), so the games I will be able to attend will be minimal. However, I will be there for one game (take a wild guess!). GO JACKETS!!!

The AJC did a study and found that Georgia Tech football players had the highest SAT scores of all Division 1 schools in the country. The tough courses are the reasons more Tech football players ao not make the academic team.

I get excited when I see Georgia Tech atletics receive posative attention. Be it excellent grades in a very hard academic program such as Tech, or be it for their contribuitions in church, school, or else where. This is what it really is all about, over achievement and helping others.

Tech Fans: The website “Keep the Thrashers in Atlanta” was created by two Tech grads and a BC grad (ACC). Tech has a club hockey team, which will also be hurt if the NHL packs up.

We are trying to get ATL leaders to help find investors to keep our team in our town. Please see this page with headshots of the people fans need to have show up very soon – link to facebook is on the home page – the more “likes” we can get on face book, the more impressive it is to (a) potential investors, and (b) the NHL Board of Governors – who must approve any move. Where are Atlanta’s leaders? Please contact them on the “How Can Fans Help Page:”

Leaders Who Need To Step Up Now:

http://www.keepthethrashers.com/fivepartplan.html

KEEP THE THRASHERS IN ATLANTA! If we all work toward the same goal, we can make this happen – a vocal public can be a force for change. Please forward face book links to as many people as possible. Let your voice be heard. We know Tech fans will help their Tech brothers in need.
