Forget to watch the game, but why did Hewitt get ejected? Did he actually demonstrate a little passion for once? Regardless, it’s time now for him to go. No sense waiting till the end of the season. The team doesn’t look like they’re being coached anyway, so what difference can it possibly make if there’s no man in a suit sitting on the bench?

Those numbers alone should get Hewitt fired. His overall body of work should get him fired. If this keeps up Tech basketball will become like Duke football. They will have a team but it won’t matter much.

I honestly want to know how long you Techies can blame the coach. When will you ever look at the entire program, and realize that the players just aren’t up to par.

You can only blame the coach for so much. I am sure if his players executed better than what they do, things would be better.

The coach is blamed for way too much. Coach Hewitt didn’t command his players to miss open shots, let passes go off their fingertips or get juked by an opponent’s point guard.

Just accept the fact that Tech is a lower tier basketball program today. Things will cycle and you will have a winning season again, but not any time soon.

Quit your whining, and enjoy your day.

Watkinsville, the problem is that no matter what players are on the team, the results are the same. And that is PROOF that it’s the coaching. We had 2 great players last year, and yet we still didn’t have any kind of recognizable offensive scheme. Who’s fault is that???

If your program is relying on a one-and-done freshman to anchor your program, then maybe you should take a look at the recruiting.

I assure you Hewitt wants to win, and does whatever he can to do so. But having sub-par players going up against better ACC players is not going to get it done.

So keep whining, and pointing fingers at the easiest possible target. It’s fin to listen to.

I would say this is major karma biting you in the butts after the pompous actions your entire fanbase took after a rainy day in November 2008.

Now reality is setting back in. And it’s hilarious to see.

Who do you think is responsible for the state of the GT basketball program? Possibly the person who has been in charge for over 10 years, recruited all of the players, hired the assistant coaches, installed the offense (whatever that is supposed to be), choses which players play in which positions, decides which defense to play, prepares the players for the game, calls time outs at strange times, subsitutes like crazy, etc.
That person gets paid over $1.4MM a season and has performed poorly – it’s time for him to go.

When Tech is down more than 15 pts, and Shumpert steals the ball and has a two on one break with a teammate streaking downcourt ahead of the pack, and all he has to do is hit him with an easy chest pass for two, and he chooses to throw an alleyoop pass from near midcourt to the rim, what has he been coached about that situation? Nothing. He chose to try to set up the spectacular when the routine would have resulted in an easy basket and gotten Tech closer to being back in the game. Who’s teaching him? There is no situational ball being taught at tech now, only gym ball.

Watkinsville…..CPH has been here since 2000. His start in the first five years was truly fabulous. Yes, Tech is very young. But if you played the game at some level, you would notice that there really isn’t a true half court offense. Tech scrambles and presses to make plays to give them a chance to score. Too many players take poor shots or quick shots that give fast break chances to the other team. Yes, the defense and the TO margin are vastly better than the last few years. If the big kids continue to develop, Tech will have an inside game in 2012. But Shumpert will likely bolt meaning Udofia will be the only true PG next year. Unless CPH can convince Jarrod Davis to come to Tech, the PG position will once again be a point of concern like it has been most of the last 5-6 years. ….Hewitt has ONE…yes, one …ACC winning season in eleven. Yes, early defections hurt and he has had his share. But Tech is something like one road win in its’ last 23 ACC road games. It isn’t all talent. The kids have no direction. He couldn’t even win last yaer with Favors and Lawal up front. There comes a time when a change is good for both sides. CPH should have taken the St John’s job.Honestly, there has to be a change and soon. One winning ACC season in eleven.Don’t think anyone has ever gotten by this long with that kind of record. It’s not whining. It’s frustration.

@Supersize, exactly. These guys are out there showcasing rather than being taught how to win basketball games. They over-extend on the defense trying to get steals, but for every steal they get they also give up 5 easy buckets because the whole defense has been taken out of postion. There is no Tech offense now, its all about Shumpert “leading” the offense. We have players, but no system designed to get the most out of them, based on each ones skills. If coach K were running this team, I guarantee you Moe Miller would be running the point, and every one of these players would be playing with a different attitude about what their defined responsibilities are on the court.
