Georgia Tech is tentatively scheduled to begin spring practices on March 28, according to the ACC. The Yellow Jackets’ spring game is scheduled for April 23.
Tech will practice at Bobby Dodd Stadium because of the construction of the new indoor practice facility.
Tech is coming off a 6-7 season and there will be competition at a lot of positions following the departures of quarterback Joshua Nesbitt, B-backs Anthony Allen and Lucas Cox, two starters on the offensive line, middle linebacker Brad Jefferson and the entire secondary.
The rest of the conference’s spring starts and game dates:

FSU/March 21/April 16

I hope practices will be open. Last year was the first time CPJ closed them and we had a worse season than previous two. I think the players may work harder in practice if they know they are being watched. Time will tell…

I agree with you completely about Sims, he is a talent and an athlete. I didn’t realize he had the speed that he had until his run against MTSU. Who knows he may come in and still the show, which I would not complain about at all as long as someone steps up. My prectition on the 4 lb spots would be Burnett and Watts at the two insides spots with Sylvester and J Att(made no attempt to spell his last name) at the outside spots, Also i think you will see a lot of A williams on passing downs. Secondary, Sweeting, Ayers, and Young will rotate on the corners. Johnson at one safetyand your pick for the second(Maybe R Reid).

I used to love going to open practices. Also, there was kind of a grassroots blogging movement which sprung up around them. I think those kind of practice reports do a lot to get the most serious fans through the summer months. After reading what the team’s been working on, I’m usually pretty pumped to see those things in action on T-Day.
Also, a bit of advice for all those struggling with the mudslingers: Don’t even respond. Leave them all hanging and talk Tech football. A Ramblin Wreck from Georgia Tech is THE finest sort of human being in this state and in the entire Southeast. We have nothing to make excuses or apologize for. Don’t be arrogant, but don’t lose your pride. Just talk up Tech and leave the whining and sniping to the 12 year olds who think it’s glamourus to waste one’s life on a party school.
The best say Go Jackets!

To predator for heisman:
I think the Defense will be really exciting this year. It seemed by the end of the season, they were finally clicking as a unit working the 3-4. Now that we’ve got a year of learning the 3-4 under our belts, I’m hoping we’ll wreak havoc with opposing offenses. I think we’ll see some amazing stuff from I. Johnson next season…

Prediction, I hope you’re right. Havoc would be really nice, but I’d settle for about four or five more stops or turnovers per game with better ball security for our offense. Just that much change would be enough for probably 9 wins. Add in some semblance of a deep passing threat and watch us win big.
For now, I just hope Groh gets the linemen and OLB’s he needs and CPJ grooms a new QB and crew of divebacks. Orwin Smith and company ought to be fun to watch this year on the outside!

It marked the fourth time in the past 12 days that Georgia Tech and one of its commitments have parted ways for various reasons.
“I changed my mind and committed to Arkansas … mainly because I wanted play in the SEC,” Flowers told the AJC. “To be the best, you have to play with the best. The SEC is the best.”

Don’t forget about Jemea Thomas either after redshirting last year he could become that surprise player on defense after have a decent freshman season in 2009 after backing up M Burnett. Although I expect the decent to be undersized still mainly the front 3 I believe this defense could be extremely fast.

Thanks, but the Lord has already blessed Tech richly enough without your contributions. Question is, what does He think of your little spoonerism there at the end of your comment?
Looking forward to 2011! Go Jackets!
