Holsey is healthy again for Tech hoops

McColloum, I hope you are happy at Clemson. You could have had a legacy here at Tech. Heads need to roll over letting him get away. Johnson and Groh lost a real player.

Chizik is now coach of the year after being ridiculed when he was chosen. Course all he did was win the Cam sweepstakes.
I’m going tonight and I’ve discovered the game is a lot more fun being there. Well duh.
This team is young, developing slowly and with a few additions could be very good next year.
I have a different critieria from most concerning coaches. I was for Bill Lewis being fired because he had lost his team.
Say what you want, as long as this teams tries hard and develops, I am not joining the haters.
The UNC game was my reward.
Hopeful about tonight but Delaney is pretty good. We have to challenge his threes and maybe get block or intercepted pass.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a zone unless our man defense of threes is solved.

We have a chance at Dave Matis from Wisconsin. Really could use an OL like Matis after Ward went to THUGA. Matis sounds like a natural and is reported to be one tough cookie. CPJ and CAG better nab him after all these players going elsewere. We lost Tuitt, McCollum, Parker, Carter, Ward, Brogdon, Helton and Farmer. Tech supposedly has interest in OL Ronnie Freeman but word is they would have to offer his brother, Donnie too. Here is a chance at OL if CPJ and CAG don’t blow it again.

VT does not have size. Their best rebounder is 6-7 Jeff Allan. Delaney knows he is too important to their team to get into foul trouble. If we can get Allan in foul trouble, it would help.
So we need to work it in more than usual to our forwards and centers unless Allan is a great defender.
VT is very fortunate to get Delaney back for his senior year.
A three contest might be fun but not sure we’ll win it.

Wouldn’t mind seeing what Holsey can do unless VT defense is very good.
Who is competing with us for Matis?
I like getting the guy from Miami.
Someone like that will be a very motivated Jacket.

How many old coaches are glad they coached before the internet era?
All of them.

Jackets2010-11 – Jeff Allen is very foul prone. VT is down to 8 scholarship players due to injury, so Greenberg is going to play zone defense to minimize Allen picking up unnecessary fouls. GT needs to man to man full court press VT all night to wear them down.

My main concern is Delaney. He can shoot and will try to penetrate to draw fouls, so he can get to the line. He’s one of one of the best FT% in the ACC. You can bet, we’ll foul him away from the basket in a bonus situation. We’re very good at committing stupid fouls.

Any recruiting surprises out there? I am bored and hate seeing UGA get all the overrated studs.

McCollum is apparently only a soft verbal to Clemson!!! His brother, Garnett, said he is rethinking his decision and may be interested in GT, Notre Dame or Oregon. We need to stay after this kid and get him in our program. CPJ and CAG can come out from under their rocks and pursue him with everything they have got. This could be a break for GT after all if we get Mc. He repotedly had offers from Texas, Penn St.,LSU,Citadel,Miami,Michigan State,Illnois and Furman in addition to the others listed. Talent like his only comes around every decade or so.

Jackets 010′2011, Wisconsin is hot after Matis. He is from there and that probably makes our work that much harder but he has shown interest in the Jackets. 6′6,285lbs. Just the size we need!!!

Seeing a GT game in person is absolutely the most frustrating experience known to man – and that includes the UNC aberration. Why can’t that level of play be upheld against lesser competition?

Because our coach is the worst in the country.

Ronnie and Donnie Freeman to NC. Well maybe Matis will be the one we need. The Freeman bros. wanted to go to the same school and GT apparently didn’t want to do both. Don’t think Donnie was as good as his brother from what I’ve heard. Probably a smart move to let him ride.

Spoke to Garnett. Said he was prety sure it would be us,ND,or Clemson. Said Marvin Jr. probably wouldn’t decide until NSD. He had spoke with Tuitt about ND so who knows. The Freeman boys weren’t that big of a loss. Good luck to them both in NC. Good luck to us with McCollum.
