The snowy weather in the Northeast has forced the cancellation of Monday’s basketball game between Georgia Tech and Fordham at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. The Rams were unable to fly to Atlanta.
The game won’t be rescheduled. Those who have purchased tickets can exchange them for tickets to Friday’s 1 p.m. game against Mercer or Sunday’s 6 p.m. game against Charlotte. The tickets can be exchanged at Gate 1 before the game starts.

The game won’t be reschedule because Hewitt doesn’t want to be embarrassed losing to another small school

Is Tech gonna have enough players eligible to even play Air Force ?

I doubt this will end up coming into play but if Tech has a good run through the ACC schedule and ends up squarely on the bubble, how would the NCAA Tournament selection committee factor in a canceled game that isn’t rescheduled? While it’s easy to say the game never happened and thus wouldn’t matter for anything, I would assume not having played a scheduled winnable game at all would put Tech in a hole compared to teams with similar resumes who play their full schedules.

Saved Blewitt from another loss. Dosent matter how many GT players are suspended, defense wouldn’t stop Air Force anyway with 250K defensive coach Grohs 3-4

You Techies have got it tough. First 4 football players flunk out. Then 3 more break curfew (in Shreveport?). The only way it could be any worse is if Tech students were getting mugged, pistol whipped and beaten up in their dorm room. Every week. Oh wait, thats happening ,too. Never mind.

UGA Slobberknoocker,
Go check the Dumb Dawgs page and you will see that your beloved are not much better off. You have just as many players that can’t meet NCAA requirements at that piss poor playground you like to call a school, and then you have one that can’t even make it to meetings cause he probably is sitting in jail. Notice, 2 of the 4 Tech players didn’t meet Tech requirements. Your whole team would be ineligible if they had the standards Tech requires!
Hewitt has got to GO!!!!!!

Since the previous two posts have been shut down for comments, i’ll post it here. How does the NCAA suspend both Hall and Barnes for academic reasons yet the blog stated that both have already graduated?? That makes no sense, unless i’m missing something.

And the hits keep coming for Paul Johnson. This last month has been an embarrassment for Tech fans on and off the field, and one smug, slovenly man is to blame. Has Paul Johnson lost control of this team?

Hey UGA Slobberknocker -
Say what you want about failing out and missing curfew in Shreveport – it’s fair to mock Tech for that – but the “getting mugged” comment is just classless. It sickens me that UGA supporters like you take pleasure in that.

I didn’t know Tech still had a D1 men’s basketball program until the other night when I heard an ESPN analyst say they were already on the bubble.

I like to give you Tech fans a hard time (and have taken some shots myself from you guys). But really, can you get too upset about three college guys missing curfew? yes, it was wrong, yes suspend them, but leave it at that its no big deal. So any fan who piles on is just doing it to get a rise out of you people (see my earlier post)..we all realize this stuff happens to everyone..
on the academic ones..every school has students (athlete or otherwise) who end up not being college material..thats life..its is not a negative.
Now go beat Air Force and we’ll seeya next year.

I will say that the poster above who took offense at me mentioning the ongoing mugging problem on campus has some misplaced anger. just reporting the facts. Maybe call the AJC and yell them to ignore the problem..or you could hire some security. Is it classless that I worry about my friend’s kids who go there? No. so dont take offense..just fix the problem that is giving the campus a black eye.

Does anybody even care about this basketball team? I wouldn’t even waste time writing anything on paper about coach blewitt! I’m sure about 5 people will be in the stands watching blewitt look like bozo the clown some more. Until DRAD gets balls and fires this idiot of a coach, i will join thousands of other GT fans and not even watch or spend 1 cent of my money on this program until we get a new coach! DRAD, you keep pushing GT fans away and you won’t have any of them to sit in your new arena!!! There is no difference in firing him today or before march 15th? So why keep him on the payroll anymore? I guess to just keep us as the laughing stock of the ACC i suppose.

I heard Hewitt partied too hard celebrating Kwanzza and decided to call off the game to sleep in. Very smart decision on his part. Honestly I can say this is the best decision he has made in his entire career, cause he knew we would lose the game!

Slobberknocker,
No matter how you crawfish on your mugging comment, it proves you’re a real low life POS. To say it, then rationalize it after your called out tells me your a real puzzy. There’s nothing cute or funny about your comment.
Thank God not all Georgia fans are as demented as you. You need counseling dude, you’ve got mental health problems.

The bowl season is a joke and players becoming ineligible academically is a joke. Please don’t sell us that crap. Happens every year. Teams everywhere have players that put their teams in position to play in bowl games then have the ax fall prior to the game. Show me one basketball player decades ineligible prior to the NCAA tourney. Doesn’t happen because finals aren’t held prior to the tourney. Bowl games should be exempt and the player should be held out of spring practice or until his semester grades are posted and he qualifies. The NCAA and Tech have it backwards and fans and players pay an unnecessary price. Bowl games are rewards and should be played at full squad depth except for injuries of course. GT was very wrong for sitting out players based on their own standards and the NCAA is wrong for their punishment of players or the timing of it.
GT sports is in a really bad state right now. Football is very weak and basketball weaker. Johnson gets two more years but Hewitt must go immediately. They won’t win more than 3 ACC games. GT is a doormat and it is time for DRad to step up and fire Hewitt. With the new facility on the rise and a fan base dwindling I don’t see where he has any choice. Give Hewitt 7 million and kick his arse out the door.

It seems that Radokovich is in Hewitt’s corner lately, which means we will have to put up with another year or two of the lousiest NCAA basketball coach. His offense still has no clue, none of his players grow in the understanding of the game, and we’ll continue to get stupid answers from him on all his post-game comments. He’s an idiot, not deserving of any contract let-alone a life-time one. If Radokovich is in this idiot’s corner, then I say it’s time to start looking for another AD with some backbone.

My only guess on the graduates being declared ineligible is that they did not pass the required 6 hours. Still doesn’t make sense…if you have graduated, you should be able to play in the bowl game.
By the way, Hewitt has to go…can’t even fill up the arena v UGA.
