Georgia Tech quarterback Tevin Washington said he has been preparing as if he will start against Air Force in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 27 in Shreveport, La.
Coach Paul Johnson practically put to rest on Thursday any chance that Joshua Nesbitt had of returning from his broken arm to play in the Dec. 27 bowl game.
“I hoped that he would get a chance to play,” Washington said. “That was a hard way to go down as a senior. But I have to prepare the same way.”
Washington, a redshirt sophomore, has played well since Nesbitt’s injury in the Nov. 4 game at Virginia Tech. He is averaging 54.7 rushing yards and 53.7 passing yards per game. But in games he has started, he is averaging 96.3 rushing yards and 97.3 passing yards.

I for one will be rooting for Tech against Air Force. I do not like Tech, but they are a state of Georgia school representing the state in a bowl game.
Good luck.

I honestly do not know….
Does Tech expect their new recruit, Vad Lee to come in and compete for the starting gig, or is it all Tevin’s next year? I imagine the system is not one you learn overnight.

Dawg House,
It is anyone’s to win. CPJ always puts his skill players in a competition in spring practice. That’s how the QB position will sort itself out. Tevin has done fine but he will have to earn his spot on the roster next year.

I do not believe Vad Lee will be able to come in and start right away. He was looking at enrolling early, and if he’d would have done that, I think he’d would’ve had a good chance to start. But he is not arriving at GT until summer, so there is no way he starts next season. HOWEVER, I think Tevin is not guaranteed to start next year. We have some decent QB’s (Sims and Days) that could push him in the spring.

Wow, UGA is the greatest team in the whole wide world. Fans of the greatest team just finished celebrating the 30 year reunion of the best team developmental studies could produce (with added pressure from that great man Dooley to make the grades for those who couldn’t). My question is why does Sanford Drive spent so much time on this site when he could be conversing with all of those great and glorious other developmental mental giants on his own site? Oh well, I will be pulling for another SEC team in the Big game while the new SEC bottom dwellers search for validation from computers because their team can’t deliver the Big One they so wish to chew on.

Well, it looks like our hero went to bed. Doug can you comment once in a while just to let us all know that you are a real person. As a UGA grad. I know it is difficult to express your thoughts about the idiot ravings on a Ga. Tech blog by your comrades at UGA. The only thing positive I will say about UGA is that your vet school is top of the line.

We are lucky football fans to have so much exciting high school football to watch, and two top level football programs, one ACC, one SEC, now young and old fools who just bring garbage talk to this blog, go f—- ypurself.
people lets get onboard with support to both school except the annually killing day. thats one day out of the year yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, stop with the stupid remarks back and forth.
PS ole school fans were blessed with eddie lee ivory and hershal walker, and at some point both schools will give birth to 2 greats again, god bless our great state and our talented high school football programs, f—- auburn football yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, hahahahahahah

ugag has nothing else to hang their hat on except their lucky win against Tech. I see Mark Richt gone after next year. They just can’t keep football players out of jail and out of trouble. The football team from the athens pin stripe cessplool is what it is. 6 and 6. Techies, they can talk all they want but they are what they are. Below average SEC team.
Go Auburn!!!!!!!!

I think you Tech fans who are so up i arms about a single person reminding you of a score of a RIVALRY game are hilarious.
I remember 2 short years ago, coming on these very same blogs to read about the State of Georgia football and seeing a lot of Tech fans doing the same things Georgia fans are doing now.
If you cannot take it, simply do not dish it. Tech will one day win this game again. It may be next yera, it may be several years form now. And based on what I see Tech fans getting so mad about, when that day comes, you guys better not even think about talking tash….. but you will….. so you better understand why UGA fans are doing it today – next Thanksgiving.
Just saying……..

you guys keep spouting about 512 total yards but it took 92 plays to get it. thats like 5.6 per play where as uga racked up 425 yards in just 48 plays at alomost 9 yards a pop. uga scoring time avg around 2:30 where techs avg around 5:32. also figured in the fact that uga 3 turnovers took 21 points off the board as uga most likely would have scored a TD all 3 times …the game was not as close as the score indicated just like last years game. UGA was in complete control of both games the whole time. look forward to about 10 more years of beating tech

“Since neither team will be bothered by the preparation for facing the triple option, it could come down to who has the better athletes, and that could be an edge for Georgia Tech. But the Yellow Jackets are just 6-6, and the Falcons played tough against Oklahoma and Utah—which were both ranked in the top 10 when they played Air Force—so they won’t be intimidated”
this game will let you tech guys know just how good or bad the recruiting is now that PJ is there. if tech is blown out then this will let you guys know that the players that pj is bringing in on offense are just what i have said all year..div 1aa or FBS players. even if the game is close it proves it too as GA tech is supposed to blow out aremd forces teams

I have to back up the notion discussed earlier about the new breed of hate that UGA fans feel towards the lowly bugs. Previous to the 2008 45-42 win by Tech, I never gave the bugs much thought. It was always good to beat them but most true football fans knew that UGA was the superior team in a more prestigious league and a win over GT was pretty much expected much like the annual bowl loss by the same.
However, once GT finally won a game the bug fans were so stinking obnoxious (ex Saint Simmons) for so long that its hard to not truly despise all Tech fans. Add a truly rude and bloated coach to the mix and the disgust is magnified three fold.
Thankfully for the good guys, the universe has returned to order and the dawgs can expect another long string of tech trouncings. (ok, that’s not a word)
I also have to add a long loud smirk to the idea of these tech football players valuing their degrees. Can you show me even one football player of late that received an advanced technical degree? I know the UGA players tend to go after the lesser degrees also but we don’t claim otherwise.
So there you have it…

Ramble off, the starting center Sean Bedford just graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. The funniest part is that all you had to do was actaully read the Tech blog to which you were posting (I think it is one entry away from this post). Your post gave a condescending diatribe about how you despise all Tech fans, and I could easily take your post and point out that it shows that all UGA fans are STUPID MORONS that can’t read… but I won’t say that because its not true… only you are.

I wonder if I’ll get to watch the game. Tech this year wears black stockings like Georgia. Now why decide to do that when Tech wore white stockings when Calvin Johnson played wearing that? What’s so wrong with wearing school colors? CPJ has to go back to school loyalty like his first year with the old gold. Why allow Missouri to always take it from us? Is there some deal made with them to let them wear it if we don’t for money they would pay us in exchange for a promise to wear only gold or vegas gold? The black is copying Georgia. Why not copy Auburn? They at least have Heisman as a link with us. We found a dark blue link with Auburn. We have white as a link. Switch their orange with our old gold. Our uniforms are not conservative enough looking and change each year too much. AU would have beaten the Hell out of us this year, just like they did against South Carolina who wore the same tapered mod side striped pants. So the older traditional Heisman-linked uniforms beat the younger mod uniforms. How about that. Well, a white background was mod for the traditional AU uniforms for that game. Tech should copy the Hell out of Auburn. Notice we aren’t ranked in the top 50 next year, and AU is.

I can guarantee at least 4-5 more “Moral Victories” per year as long as I’m the coach. And frankly, there is nothing you can do about it Tech fans. I’ve out smarted half of you and you defend me vehemently, and the other half of you have no other choice than to live with me as your coach. I’m so much smarter than everyone and Tech AD is afraid to fire me, b/c he can’t afford too. So I’ll leave your program no better or worse than when I saved it; on my terms and when I’m ready. So in the meantime, suck it up and deal with it Tech fans…

Tech Fans of all walks – whenever a georgia fan reminds you of the last half century’s dominance over tech, please try to refrain from mentioning georgia’s struggles versus florida for the past twenty years. It only makes you seem petty and childish.
“Well, oh yeah, FLORIDA owns you mutts!!!”
Yeah, so? For the past twenty years, that is accurate. But what does florida have to do with the ga/tech rivalry?
Try to be salient, please.

Washington will be ready but school spirit won’t with black stockings as opposed to white, maybe even solid black side stripes on white background; never heard of Malzhan; what about Fridgen?; what about Joe Hamilton? there aint’ no more Kim King or Billy Lothridge or Johnny Sias or Lenny Snow record holders at Tech who were white when Hamilton, as black, broke their records; but as white Tech grad, still expect to see whites on team, much more than now with CPJ, mainly on D; wish white LB Uremovich had never broken his neck as starting Freshman or Sophomore; had Eddie McAshan in class I had to take when he was starting Cube, didn’t mind that he was black; never heard any white at Tech minding the fact he was first black player at Tech, thus his wearing number 1 on his jersey, so I heard as rumor
