Cornerback Dominique Reese is one of 66 Georgia Tech student-athletes who are scheduled to graduate. The bachelor’s degree ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
It will be a special moment for the Reese family because he is the first person in his immediate family to graduate from college. He completed his degree requirements in management during the summer.
“They are proud of me,” said Reese, who estimates there will be as many as 25 family members who will watch him walk. “My grandma didn’t care if I ever played football. She wanted to see me graduate.”
Among the 21 past and present football players are several redshirt juniors, including A-back Roddy Jones, linebacker Kyle Jackson and defensive end Jason Peters.
Each said they plan to continue their education and playing career at Tech, either by being accepted into graduate school or by pursuing a second major.
Here are the student-athletes who are degree candidates, a term Tech uses until final grades are audited and posted (courtesy of Georgia Tech’s sports information department):

Shreveport, come ON man; “I’ve two Tech grads working for me.” Maybe DeKalb Tech grads, or Aiken Tech grads…I MIGHT believe that.

GT loses to Sienna in basketball (Hewitt’s former team), and we hear the same quotes after the game: “we just didn’t execute our game plan” … “we just got out-played and out-hussled” … blah, blah, blah. Paul Hewitt is holding the entire GT basketball program hostage with his $7M contract buy-out and he is obviously more interested in his positions within various Coaches Associations than he is in actually making GT basketball successful. Merry Christmas, Paul … thanks for 10 years of destruction to a once-highly regarded basketball program.

3-6 Sienna beat us. WOW; much like our football team we need a change at top. Both coaches are jokes.

Cloudman, get your head out of the clouds. Yes, Hewitt sucks. Paul Johnson won more in his first 2 seasons than any GT coach ever. We had a bad year this past season @ 6-6 but there were many extenuating circumstances (4 stud Jr.s going pro, new DC, QB breaking his arm). But you won’t hear excuses from Johnson like Hewitt. We are in good shape with the football program.
Basketball of course is in the toilet. Obviously DRad will not fire Hewitt in the middle of the season. But he will be gone at the end of the year. Losing to Kennesaw State, UGA on our home court, now Siena!! I can’t wait to see what the ACC record is going to be. No doubt about it, he will be gone.

So GT beat Albany by 27 points. Albany beat Siena by 6. You would think GT would beat Siena, wouldn’t you? Nice consistency guys. Also, what the heck is up with Brian Oliver? Since the Syracuse game he is shooting 22% overall and 16% from 3 pt range. He is killing us right now.
