Anthony Allen, Sean Bedford and Omoregie Uzzi were named All-ACC today.
Allen, a B-back, and Bedford, a center, were named to the first team in a vote of the media who cover the ACC. Uzzi, a guard, was named to the second team.
The Yellow Jackets have had 81 all-conference selections since 1982, and at least two in each of the past five seasons.
The selection of Allen, a senior who rushed for 1,225 yards, marks four consecutive years that Tech has had a running back honored.
Bedford, a senior, made the team for the second consecutive year. He and Uzzi, a redshirt sophomore honored for the first time, paved the way for the Jackets to lead the nation in rushing by averaging 327 yards per game.

Instead of worrying about how many games I go to or how much I donate, why not focus on proving me FALSE, instead you try to change the subject & deflect criticism away from CPJ.

It’s not just CPJ that caused these issues…our defense is awful – those recruits were many pulled in from Gailey as well. So, let’s not talk out of both sides of the mouth. We could not stop ANYONE all year, save for the joke game vs. SC State. That said, I can’t stand an offense that cannot throw the ball, either when it has to or in the flow of the game. This is going to be an uphill battle for as long as we utilize this approach.

Wrexy – Uzzi committed on 2/2/2008 (or about two months after Johnson was hired). AA sat out the 2008 season (or Johnson’s first). But please, don’t let facts get in the way.

Sorry Danny-boy, but Uzzi is a RS Soph., he SIGNED HIS LOI ON NSD, on 2/2/2008, but he committed to GT when Chan was still the HC, BCS Level Recruits are usually contacted no later than their Jr. Yr. of HS and that is when HCs in College start to build relationships that Result in the Recruit actually signing the LOI on NSD.
Players usually commit far in advance of actually signing the LOI, I think you are confusing the terminology, a verbal commitment is a promise from the player to actually sign the scholarship offer on NSD in Feb. of that player’s Sr. yr. in HS.
Once again Uzzi committed to Chan and CPJ convinced him to stay, had CPJ been the HC, in all likelihood he never would have committed to GT/CPJ.

re: dcp
CPJ has been the HC for 36-straight months, during that time why hasn’t he “coached them up”?
Isn’t coaching ‘em up and player development supposed to be his “specialty”?
CPJ won with TRUE SOPHS. playing key roles on his 2008 Team, yet CPJ’s own Tr-Sophs. that he recruited cannot get on the field in significant numbers, and when they do their lack of talent is very clear as evidenced by our POOR Kick Coverage Team (both punt & KO).
IF CPJ were recruiting “stud” like everyone claims then our STs would show a lot more athleticism and productivity than they showed this season.
Conventional wisdom says that crappy Cover Teams and Return Teams usually mean you have crappy Athletes “in the piepline” and you won’t be getting better anytime soon, since those Teams are usually made up of players from your 2nd String.
Please prove me wrong.

we sent tix back for uga, so i could care less what anybody thinks that did not go…said we should have played Tevin more, thought we should have taken the 3, showed shot-gun 1 time, so why not the vital next to last series, drop into it just b4 the snap-don’t think CPJ is a genius(more rain man than einstein), this offense can’t be so perfect all these decades that perhaps it may need tweaking to suit the personnel…also think the 3-4 stinks, butrealize our linemen are young, finally looked like they had grown some, we still owe chan & have another coach that needs changing more(go there, too)….let’s see if they play better filling Dodd first…….

I hate to say it, but Uzzi was a CCG recruit all along. I know because I remember in the regular season that year, they handed us (students in the student section) pictures of recruits so we could recognize and cheer them on during pregame when they came out to see the field. Obviously, he committed to CPJ, but I’m very skeptical about our ability to bring in competitive talent in the future. I am just scared we’re getting players that would normally go to a mid-tier program like Navy or Southern.

Doug, don’t blame you for ignoring all these ignorant posts(some with vast, WiDE year of experience) by reiterating the appraisers(tho i thinks * counters are con artists) giving about the same # of *’s, & line men in particular rarely optimum till 3-4 years along…any of you nattering nabobs of negativism that don’t actually go to games are as tedious as folks griping about the government that don’t vote………

Gailey recruited the kid and Johnson signed him. Both were responsible for signing Uzzi. As far as improving is concerned, I saw improvement this year, just more mistakes from players learning the system. I also would like to see more passes, but did any of you look at the stats for the last 4 games? Offense is not the problem. The 3-4 defense is not for Tech imo, you need big, althletic lineman. I would like to see an attacking defense like we had under Tenuta.

1. Paul Johnson accepted head coaching job on 12/7/2007.
2. Uzzi commits to GT on 2/1/2008.
3. Anthony Allen transfers in 02/2008.
All of this happened AFTER CPJ was hired….now that you’ve been owned, you can head back over to the UGA boards!

Rexy – Why don’t you adopt some manners and and allow some opinions other than your own to be considered? Tech has enough hard-headed know-it-alls who think they are fans of the program b/c they know so much more than DRad and CPJ.
After the 2009 season, Tech lost four of its best players to the NFL. 3 of whom Start as rookies (only J Dwyer is on the bench). Our O-line is young. Uzzi did great as a RS sophomore. Al Groh is installing a new system. CPJ has said he is committed to the system and it will take time – and yes, more talent, to produce results. Don’t be surprised if Tevin Washington is not the starting QB next year.
IMO, we need improvement on the D-line and LBs. Hopefully we have some redshirts / underclassmen in the pipeline that fit the bill.
Lastly, Bobby Ross had a terrible third year. Can’t remember the record but I think it was a losing season. In his fourth year, we all know what happened. Keep the faith Jacket fans, CPJ above all else wants to win and he will bring the Magic.

WrecksnFex (and variations) has been saying (correctly in my opinion) that none of CPJ’s recruits have demonstrated on the field that they are as good as the “Fab Five” recruited by Gailey (Nesbitt, Dwyer, BayBay, Burnett and Morgan – 4 of whom were major contributors as true Sophs – BayBay was a RS). When other GT fans have stated that CPJ has only had 2 real recruiting classes (2009 and 2010) and that many of them have been redshirted, Wrex says that doesn’t matter – you need to look at the GT SO’s to compare.
Certainly, there is no SO on the team that has performed at the level of the guys in Gailey’s best class. However, is that a fair comparison? What about the other 5 recruiting classes of Gailey? I still think the jury is out on CPJ as a recruiter.

Congrats to all 3 young men. And to all you folks moaning about Josh, just know that everyone besides Tech fans think that Tyrod & Russell had better years than did Josh. That does not take away from Josh, as he is the greatest ACC rushing qb of all time, but sometimes you must man up and admit someone actually had a better year than a Tech.guy.

Boy, there’s a smell in here. College football has reached a point with a lot of parity. Look at Georgie, Texas, UF, and USC if you need examples. Look the other way at Boise and TCU for more proof. A lot of what is being said here is conventional wisdom…..great after 8 beers, but if you know your donkey from third base, it’s boring. Where was the Single Wing for 60 years? Out of style. But it’s ba-a-a-ck. There is room for inventiveness in football. Ever heard of Emory Bellard? (Didn’t think so.) It’s about blocking and tackling, kids. Tackling doesn’t even happen any more. Colleges have to (2) recruit well, (b) develop the talent, and (c) have a good scheme. CPJ does very well with two out of three. Recruiting will always be tough for GT. But that’s what makes it fun. And I wish you adolescent, closet UGag idiots wouldn’t come on here. You bore me.
