Three Jackets make All-ACC

Anthony Allen, Sean Bedford and Omoregie Uzzi were named All-ACC today.
Allen, a B-back, and Bedford, a center, were named to the first team in a vote of the media who cover the ACC. Uzzi, a guard, was named to the second team.
The Yellow Jackets have had 81 all-conference selections since 1982, and at least two in each of the past five seasons.
The selection of Allen, a senior who rushed for 1,225 yards, marks four consecutive years that Tech has had a running back honored.
Bedford, a senior, made the team for the second consecutive year. He and Uzzi, a redshirt sophomore honored for the first time, paved the way for the Jackets to lead the nation in rushing by averaging 327 yards per game.

Nesbitt NOT making the team is a TRAVESTY. Just goes to show (once again) how BIASED post season honors always are. Congrats to the Tech men who did make the team–they deserved it–but so did JOSHUA NESBITT. Shame, shame on the selectors.

Great show guys, to bad for Nesbitt (he is a great team player and pretty good leader), nest year lets shoot for 4 on offense and 3 on defense, we can do it! Different kind of season, but this winter we can work on a couple of things on both sides of the ball, I know P.Johnson is going to make us better.

Congrats to Allen, Bedford and Uzzi.
I love Joshua as a QB, but no way could he have been picked ahead of Russell Wilson and Tyrod Taylor.

Since O. Uzzi came in with the Class that signed in Feb. 2008, do we give CHAN GAILEY “credit” for him, after all, the CPJ apologists and Kool-aid drinkers have continuously claimed that CPJ is not “responsible” for that Recruiting Class.

Since the hypocrites that are CPJ’s toadies have claimed that he has only had 2-real Recruiting Classes, this means that they cannot give CPJ credit for Recruiting an All-ACC player (Uzzi).

BTW, Uzzi is one of our LARGER OL, and was originally committed to Chan before he was fired, and was our best OL this season (he was better than Bedford IMO), the smallish “runts” that CPJ has recruited haven’t shown near the upside that Uzzi has that was recruited to play in a “Pro-Style” Offense has shown.

Keep that in mind this Feb. After CPJ sign his 4th, oops, I mean THIRD Recruiting Class.

Nesbitt probably wants to add to his QB rushing record.
But does he have any pro aspirations?
Isn’t his best bet at another position?
He played safety in high school in addition to QB and had 4 picks his senior year.
I’m thinking a bowl game at safety or linebacker but he probably would not like the idea.
Just thinking out loud.
Thank you Joshua for your three years as our leader.

It is a very legit question on my part.

You seem to be the typical thin-skinned, overly-sensitive, GT fan that doesn’t like to hear the TRUTH about GT’s FB Program under CPJ.

90% of the GT Fans that post on these blogs claim that CPJ shouldn’t be held accountable for the Feb. 2008 Recruiting Class; since they feel that way, it is very fair to ask, if CPJ should also not be given credit when a Recruit from that Class makes All-ACC.

From your reply you seem like the typical wussified GT Fan that wants to have it both ways and NOT hold CPJ accountable for that first Recruiting Class, yet at the same time you want to give him credit when players from that Recruiting Class play very well (T. Washington, O. Uzzi).

I am consistent, I have said all along that CPJ is accountable for that 1st Recruiting Class, so I have no problem with giving him the “credit” for Uzzi making All-ACC.

Good going guys. I remember earlier this year when there were bloggers who were really putting down Anthony (not tough enough, etc.). How wrong they were. In fact, I think that BB will be the hardest position to fill next year. I just don’t see one on the roster or being recruited. And I’m surprised that there has been little or not comments about the pileup when the UGA player twisted Ant’s head around, pulling off his helmet. off. That was pretty dirty. Finally, regardless of which bowl, please win. Tech used to be among the bowl elites, Lately we have been pretty sad. Lets win this one and atleast end the season on a positive note.

Actually, since you asked, Uzzi WAS brought in by Johnson. He was one of the 9 of 20 (or less than half, since you’re obviously a dog fan and don’t know math too well) Johnson brought in that first recruiting class.

Johnson was hired 12/7/2007. His first recruit was Jaybo Shaw the very next week. Uzzi was brought in the following February. Other notables that first class that Johnson brought in were Tevin Washington, Marcus Wright, TJ Barnes, and Phil Smith. Not bad in a a couple of months.

RambleOn84

But you’re right, Uzzi probably only committed because of Chan Gailey and his “pro-style offense,” despite the fact that Chan had been canned three months prior to Uzzi’s decision to sign.

There wasn’t anything superlative about this team of kids. Sorry, getting a ACC honor is like getting a trophy for just showing up!

CPJ has a lot of work to do and he’s getting paid to do it. Very dissappointing year of no improvement week to week.

Sorry you don’t like Paul Johnson, VarsityJacket.

But the truth is, he has won 26 games in three years. Yes, this past season was a letdown, but we were very close in the majority of the games we lost.

We knew that this year would be a little bumpy, and it was a little worse than we thought. Johnson far surpassed our expectations in his first two years and it caused people to raise their hopes really high for this past year, probably to an unreasonable level when you look at the talent level objectively.

Johnson is still a great coach and much better than his predecessor. He accomplished enough in his first two seasons to deserve our patience for a fourth and fifth season at least. If he has still underwhelmed us, we will re-evaluate him then.

It is far too early to write him off.

I think you (if you actually are a Tech fan and don’t have some weird grudge against Johnson) will be pleasantly surprised with the team next year if you give him a chance.

Yes, the team that lost to both Kansas and UGA was any better. Bad blocking, dropped passes, fumbles, penalties, mental breakdowns, this was a bad team. RambleOn – 5 unranked teams with HIS players – Really? In my opinion last year was a fluke because the ACC was last year and this year extremely down, so winning the ACC was no big accomplishment considering the level of teams. WIthout looking, I am pretty sure the ACC only has 1 maybe 2 teams in the top 25.,

RambleOn84

Gailey’s worst season was 7-6, which is still attainable.

However, Gailey also AVERAGED about 7-5. 7.3333333 wins and 5.3333333 losses.

Gailey’s worst was about the same as his average. That’s all you need to know about Gailey. The guy was consistently mediocre. If that’s what you want, then send your checks to Radakovich and start a HireChanGailey.com website.

Actually NONE of the 3 that made All-ACC are CPJ Recruits. I remember when Uzzi came out of Chamblee HS, he is a RS-Soph. by the way putting him in the same Class with Tevin & Jablow Pshaw, he verbally committed to GT before Chan was fired, and A. Allen made his decision to transfer from Louisville and did not play that fall of 2007 and he contacted Chan about transferring to GT since Chan had recruited him OUT OF HS, after Chan was fired CPJ convinced him to continue with his decision to come to GT, but A.Allen looked to transfer to GT because of his relationship with Gailey, and Bedford is a RS-Sr. so we know that he is not a CPJ Recruit.

Had Nesbitt stayed healthy he might have made 3rd Team All-ACC yet another Chan Recruit, basically any GT Player that had any shot for All-ACC honors is strongly connected to Chan, CPJ is just reaping the benefits.

Notice that NONE of CPJ’s Recruits can even be PROJECTED to be considered for All-ACC honors (in 2011 or 2012) even thru the eyes of most optimistic person.

That’s a FACT, from an HONEST, GT ALUM that refuses to drink the Kool-aid or be giddy over “moral victories”.

Please disprove my hard facts before you criticize what I have written.

re: RambleOn84

And now that those players are leaving do you think that CPJ is closer to getting 11-wins again or another 6-6 season?

Remember we played the 66th toughest schedule in all of CFB, we normally avg. playing the 30th to 45th toughest schedule, remember we also playing in a crappy ACC.

Also you might want to ask yourself is CPJ and his SUB-STANDARD RECRUITS closer to the 11-wins in 2009 or closer to the Team & HC that lost to Turner Gill, Randy Shannon, and Daboo Swinney all in the SAME SEASON?

In case you haven’t noticed our Talent level is going DOWN pretty quickly.

What say you?
