tough game for our boys; the battled hard, and earned our utmost respect. that said, maybe next year we can hold on to the ball and convert on those XP’s. proud of our boys.

Dawgs get a needed victory and Tech gets a moral victory.

It was a battle to see who was the tallest midget and UGA won, again.
Nine out of 10

Tech had every opportunity to win against the worst Georgia team in years and couldn’t take advantage of the Georgia to’s. There’s always next year, or sometime one out of the next ten years.

Mr. Roberson is a good writer, but after watching this video it is obvious that he is a GT nerd……glasses and an argyle sweater to a football game…..nice

@Reuben…At least he doesn’t dress up like he is going to work to go watch a football game (UGA fans)

Great “Moral” Victory, I think Tech should get rings made for the “Moral” victory in 2010!
I guess UGA didn’t have any turnovers or mistakes last night, it was only Tech who made mistakes and had turnovers. I love the rationalization of the game. You could probably look back at the entire 2010 season and you could be undefeated right now without mistakes and turnovers.
The 2010 “Moral Victory” National Champions = GT
November 28th, 20105:29 pm
I bet Alabama is just as happy about their “Moral” victory against Auburn. Maybe GT and Alabama could use the same ring maker and get a volume discount if both teams ordered rings for the 2010 “Moral” victory over their in-state rival.
Paul Johnson is considering a serious job offer from Vandy…It appears to be a done deal at this point!

Typical mutt fans! Tech put up over 500 yds of offense including over 400 on the ground against a good rush defense (as measured nationally), we keep the game that was supposed to be a blow out tight and make it a one point game all the way down to the end, we spot them 14 points TWICE by fumbling the ball and STILL they think they beat us. We beat ourselves. Why do you think CPJ said, “let ‘em score”? Because he KNEW, and the night had shown, that we could move the ball up and down the field at will. We did so allllllllllllllllllllllllll night. Mutts get the W because the Jackets gave it to them, end of story. You’re WELCOME mutt fans for the bowl. You can thank us when you get over your hangovers!
November 28th, 20105:57 pm
Old Gold and White Fan:
Congratulations on your “Moral” victory, you won everywhere except for the final score. Please contact Alabama about your “Moral” victory rings and see if you can get a discount. Also, I don’t drink so I don’t have to worry about hangovers. I think based on your thinking that GT is the best “Moral” victory team in the country so you really didn’t lose 6 games this year. Congratulations on a great season, you had great stats this year.

Thank you for losing 9 of 10! Glad Tech likes to give away games!

For the last few days I’d said in various blogs, “UGA’s 3-4-5 star recruits + GT’s 2-3-4 star recruits + UGA is getting better as the year goes on + GT has been looking weak and mistake prone ALL year + GT’s only good player was Nesbit and he’s out for the year + UGA is at home = UGA should totally beat down GT around 51 to 10ish.” So, I guess I was wrong. Bottom line, based on talent, resources, coaching budget, girls, majors, and every other measurable: UGA should NEVVVVEEERRR lose to GT in football. UGA is Goliath to GT’s David. Considering REALITY, GT gave you guys all you could f’ing handle so lay off the high-and-mighty and get some perspective. Grow some and have the class to say what I’m about to say “Good game guys, you gave us all we could handle today.” I guess if Goliath had beaten David, there are a lot of folks who would have boasted about that too. I guess it takes all kinds.

Good game UGA. The better team won. We’ll give it a shot again next year. GO JACKETS!!
November 28th, 20108:34 pm
To Old Gold and White: Thank you! We didn’t win, you lost. Because you gave us several gifts. A gift requires donative intent. So you must think Tech intentionally lost in an effort to make UGA bowl eligible. I mean turnovers aren’t part of the game or anything, especially when you pitch it 50+ times in a game.
And to Ga Tech 92: Good game. You gave us (a .500 football team) all we could handle last night. I agree that Tech should never beat UGA. So congratulations on not losing 51 to 10. You know, if you keep your expectations really low, you will never be disappointed.

DawginTX – I’m a fan of TX, as I lived there many years. I think, if you would pull of your blinders, find that my perception is closer to reality in the big picture. When was the last 3 year stretch when GT beat UGA in a recruiting class? Oh, you can’t ever think of a time that a major recruiting service ranked GT’s class higher than UGA’s for a three year period? OK, how about a two year?….wow…one?….hrmm. Yeah, UGA on paper has no excuse for ever losing to GT. If I play my son in football (he’s 9) and I beat him every time, should I also brag? Should he ‘pretend’ that he has a chance of winning, or should he “give it his best effort EVERY time, yet be realistic that he probably will lose?” I think that’s about right. GT gave it’s best effort and as such should be proud. You can dismiss it as a ‘moral victory’ or ‘keeping low expectations’ or whatever you want to call it. The bottom line is, you can go back since the creation of the earth and probably not find a time when GT could consistently out recruit UGA for more than maybe a year here or there once a billion years. Bigger, stronger, faster matters. Sometimes a moral victory and proper expectations are based in reality, while at the same time you do your best every f’ing chance you get. The day GT has out recruited UGA for three straight years, then I’ll allow you the point of view that high expectations against UGA is reasonable. For now, I’ll be ‘happy’ with my real expectations, which is for us to be total underdogs, you guys to take it for granted, we might get a chance, and we hope to stick it in your grill every chance we get. Reality is, we will continue to lose most of them, because again, you have a much better team. “You have a much better team”, wow, some people would just say ‘thank you’ to that sort of comment. I love GT, because we ARE the underdog. We are supposed to lose on paper, so anytime we do more than that, it’s a significant accomplishment. David over Goliath. In a way, this series is a useless for you. You are ’supposed’ to win everytime, so if you lose, you are a joke. If you win, you get no cred because ‘you were supposed to’. Geez, I thought it was tough being a GT fan, but UGA can’t win, even when it does win. Sweeeet, it’s all come full circle. Gotta love math.
November 28th, 20109:30 pm
I can’t believe ANY coach worth his salt still says”if we don’t put the ball on the ground……..”. It happens, it’s part of the game and we took advantage of EVERY TO while you guys did DIDDLY when you got yours.Has it come to this Nerds–moral victories???? Oh well, whatever it takes to salve your wounds I guess.
November 28th, 201010:19 pm
92, I realize that we have a recruiting advantage over Georgia Tech and that advantage shouldn’t be minimized. But Florida, Texas, and USC don’t go undefeated every year, and teams that don’t ever have a “top 10″ recruiting class sometimes win it all. College football is cyclical and Georgia’s lows will sometimes coincide with Tech’s highs, like last year. Tech should be occasionally favored, and with a “system offense” that opponents see once a year, you should almost always have a puncher’s chance. Successful teams that can’t compete at the highest level of recruiting often have system offenses–Oregon, Utah, Air Force, West Virginia a few years ago, Texas Tech with Mike Leach. The get to one level with a system, stay there for a while, and then work on gradually closing the recruiting gap.
November 28th, 201010:40 pm
I can’t believe there is a discussion about this game. Tech, you lost doing what a lot of teams do !!! You fumbled, you got intercepted, you gave up big plays and you didn’t score and make a 2 pt.conversion !!! Dawgs 42-Nech-34.
November 28th, 201011:05 pm
my jackets played hard. they never gave up they kelp fighting. and to me thats a win in my book. the triple option works when we have blocks just like in any other offense. we win games when we have a defense.. if we had a defense or a better defense coach we would be national champions 3 times in a row maybe or at least 1. tech beat tech uga just happend to be there. to many costly fumbles. but 400 rushing yards against a great run defense is also a win. get em next year baby!!!
My take on the game.
Dumbest team in america 42
Team that should have won 34
Our coaching staff should be fired for falling for that ‘ole defense at the end of the game. I was screaming at the TV with my family present “they are going to let us score to get the ball back”!!!!
My 43-41 prediction almost came true. i tried to tell everyone we could not stop them
November 28th, 201011:08 pm
oh and by the way we aint all nerds i happend to be a country grown boy. dumb as arock when it comes to math and science but i know my football.
November 28th, 201011:16 pm
@ ga tech 92 you tell em man. everyword you said is exactly right.
November 29th, 20101:12 am
best excuse for losing I ever heard-we won.
November 29th, 20109:03 am
By the way – there is a fine line between an ‘excuse’ and a ‘reason’. I wasn’t trying to ‘excuse’ our loss to UGA, because it’s nothing we need to excuse or justify. I was only explaining the reason we lose as often as we do. It’s not a ‘trend’ or ‘cyclical’, because if it were, you would find in history that GT dominates UGA for significant stretches, only to then have UGA dominate for stretches (A La Auburn-Tide). The history books show that in today’s modern football era, there is no competition and we beat you guys about as often as Duke beats anyone. Is Duke making excuses when they explain why they lose so much, or is it just a fact and a reason? Some schools aren’t built to be a football factory, by choice, by reason, it’s not an excuse….it’s the reason. So, anyway, I hope you can enjoy having held on to beat the underdog. The better team won, again, so grats to you, you are entitled to feel good about winning…….just as we are entitled to feel good about a good showing against a team with every possible advantage over us. Anyway…Thanksgiving break is over…I hope everyone enjoyed their break. Rock on!
November 29th, 20109:15 am
Also, to the folks who are saying things like “everyone fumbles so it’s part of the game, quit saying that’s why GT lost”. That is true in a sense, but here is what you’re missing. When you are a 14 point underdog, when you have 2-3 star recruits (occational 4) going against 4-5 star recruits (occational 3), when you have very little chance on paper……………when your GT in this series your only chance to win is to play a nearly perfect game. UGA doesn’t have to play anywhere near perfect to win, as this game illustrated. So, the difference is, GT had to play a perfect game to win, but UGA didn’t. That’s why the issue of fumbles, etc, was relavant to GT, but not UGA.
Also, someone mentioned recruiting and compared to Florida, etc. I have a lot of UGA friends and so I ‘get’ that your main concern and competition is Florida, Bama, etc, because they get consistently top 5 recruiting classes, while you ‘only’ get top 10 recruiting classes. There is a lot less difference between the number 3 recruiting class and the number 7 recruiting class, than there is between number 7 and number 53. We are more like number 53, while you are more like number 7. A bunch of rank 7 recruits should beat rank 3 recruits more often than 53 beats 7. If you think 7 hasn’t much of a chance over 3, then imagine how 53 is situated in this logic?…53vs7 is waaaay out in another universe compared to 7vs3. Apples and oranges here folks. SEC rules for a reason, it’s the recruiting, dollars, all the obvious things. If it’s so easy for 53 to beat 7, then why hasn’t 7 beaten 3 consistently? Maybe recruting matters more than you let on. I get it, if you admit that UGA is far superior on paper, then you dismiss the merits of your win, which you clearly wouldnt’ want to do. However, the problem is, you can’t dismiss it against GT and claim it against Florida at the same time. Either recruiting matters, or it doesn’t. EIther GT is way out matched against UGA, or UGA is an f’ing joke against FL…can’t have it both ways logically. Love UGA as a school…I even said “good game guys”…but yet…there is arguing…amazing in a way
