FIRST…you don’t sound too confident about the Jackets, truth be told I kind of agree. Maybe with the bye week you could clean your apartment
From 11-3 to 11-3
October 29th, 20107:32 am
GO JACKETS !
Whack the Hokies!
October 29th, 20107:35 am
big improvement on the video.
i happen to think that orwin smith IS the needed playmaker at a back, but he doesn’t get enough touches.
October 29th, 20108:30 am
Fun to ponder and wonder…
But fact is, we get thumped on the order of 45-10, or worse.
October 29th, 20108:37 am
wesley… yu are o shrewd. Why aren’t you a coach since you know so very much? BAHAHAHA!!!!
Impeach Jeff Goldblum

Dawg Roberson is a more effeminate version of Heather Dinich
October 29th, 20108:48 am
So if Tech manages to lose every remaining game on their schedule – do you think they will finally get serious about adding a passing attack ?
October 29th, 20109:06 am
Wesleywhatwhat: I agree that Orwin Smith appears to be the best A back we have right now in terms of running the ball and catching the ball. I agree that he should get more touches also. I would like to see Bostic also used more because of his speed and versatility. The WR position is definately a huge weakness for this team and Stephon Hill needs to step it up a lot. Corey Earls has been making a few plays now and then but Hill becoming a consitant deep threat is what Tech needs badly…
October 29th, 201010:02 am
No reason not to stick with optimism. If Tech beats Virginia
Tech and Miami (and Duke), then all that is required for Tech to play
for the ACC championship is for Virginia Tech to lose a game,
and they still have Miami, North Carolina, and Virginia to play.
October 29th, 201010:14 am
I’m still waiting for the reincarnation of coach Bobby Dodd and the days when GT was not only a perennial (SEC) power house, but nationally as well. I’m going to curl up in the fetal position now, and wait.. Hey my name is “OldGTfan” !!
October 29th, 201010:38 am
orwin doesn’t get enough touches and neither does bostic who is the quickest guy on offense. When you are struggling like we are, why not get these guys more touches? You just showed that your football IQ is that of forrest gump.
Rduck, the reality is we have no threat at wide receiver and it does kill us and we can’t get the safety out of the box. Teams are putting everyone in the box and when you have no passing threat why not? We also need a QB who can run in the 4.4 range and able to hit on better than 38 percent of his passes. The drops hurt him some but he has been terrible and he is a senior? Could you imagine nesbitt passing more often in a pro-style system? Yikes!! I think the offensive line has serious issues and lack a nasty streak. The front 7 on defense have no real playmakers that show more than once in a blue moon. I think groh knows how to coach defense but i don’t think he has much to work with in regards to this scheme he runs. It will be another 2 years before i think we show real signs on defense and that’s even if groh is still at GT which will be a question in it’s self. I would have rather seen a young energy guy DC at GT personally but i will trust in CPJ. I say that only because groh is in his 60’s and i can’t imagine him staying long at GT. Special teams play with this team is garbage and the coach should be fired after the uga game. Pathetic special teams are costing GT games this year.
October 29th, 201010:46 am
Calvin that’s wishful thinking man. Wake up and get out of the bubble you are in. This team is not motivated or inspired by anything. They can’t even get up for their biggest ACC rival clemson without having their teeth kicked in! We play inferior teams and struggle (wake) or lose (kansas)!! Did you see VT dominate NC ST and wake calvin and you think this team can go on the ROAD and beat a hokie team that has won 6 straight? Miami stuck it to north carolina and clemson and GT is gonna beat them? These were not even close games. I’m amazed at some GT fans. This team stinks in all 3 phases of the game….special teams, offense and defense! We are barely in the top 50 in total offense and are ranked 54th nationally in defense which is 1 spot ahead of last years group. Special teams is ranked near the lower end in the country as well! Wake up
October 29th, 201010:57 am
RamblinWreck – I agree with you at times, but overall you have lost faith. The best stat I have for you which is entirely true. Paul Johnson has not lost back to back games at Tech ever and he only did it once in his last 6 years at Navy. We also had an extra 4 days to prepare for this game. Sooo, can we win, sure we can, will we …. well I see your points as well. Make no mistake about this CPJ IS a GREAT coach, some teams just don’t have what it takes. I think the biggest loss from last years team is not bey bey it is the two lineman that play for Georgia State. Bey bey is a big loss as well, but we more than have enough talent to beat anyone in the league.
October 29th, 201010:59 am
So let me get this straight…
You don’t advise I wear my gold GT jersey to the Georgia game, and be really obnoxious in the stands prior to kick-off?
GT's record was predicted two years back
October 29th, 201011:44 am
Not one GT grad ( bloggers do not count, unless they matriculated) would listen to negatives said two and three years back about GT’s Wishbone attack. It was said that it is “antiquated” or that “it uses up QBs’ or that “if a team has athletes that are disciplined and stay at home and that can run and that can LOCK UP on their initial hits, that GT would be in trouble.” It also was said that for these and many other reasons that “great HS kids would stay away” in droves. Recruits would take a giant “I pass” with or w.o. Al Groh’s 35 year old NFL contacts.
Now ………. be honest ………. is all of that not coming to fruition??? GT’s ACC title impressed no one and when 2010 season began the ACC proved that they are a no where, small ball league. Now, GT is not getting the recruits of CPJ to bear fruit and play at the low levels of the ACC.
We tried to tell you that GT’s wishbone was a quick fixer upper for a couple of years only but long term and against big boy ball like Iowa or LSU or UGA or NC State or Kansas ( Kansas? what ?^$#@@$) that it would sputter due to the inability to throw the ball.
See Josh Nesbitt on fourth down vs UGA in 09 ………..what a joke. How many yards vs Iowa did he get in the first half? 4? How many yds has he gotton recently via the pass??? Hmmmmmm??
CPJ is now in trouble ……….it is coming to fruition just like all of the wishbone detractors predicted. That O went out with Jimmy Carter in the late 70s. GT is so 70s in its appeal.
GT gets new football coach every 3.5 years and CPJ is nearing compeltion of # 3 and look at the record.

stop stop stop all you teribble tech fans, tech had 2 great years and no their down on talent and not as good and eveyone is down on them please shuuuuuuutttt up with your wineing, im a die hard tech fan and yes im disappointed in tech bc they havent played even close to their potential but i still love tech and will continue to support them. coach pj has been a way better coach than the one we had before, you idoit bandwagon fans are the same fans that if we beat va tech will come on here and say how we have a shot at the acc title..
all the real tech fans please stand up..

October 29th, 201012:20 pm
Yes, no one can stop our rushing attack, that’s why we are #2 in rushing in the country. I disagree somewhat with Doug in that our rushing attack has for the most part been fine, the A-backs have performed relatively well, particularly O. Smith. Bostic has shown some flashes while in there, too, and R. Jones is averaging 7.3 yards a carry. The problem isn’t our rushing attack, it is our ability to keep the defense honest with a reliable passing attack.
October 29th, 201012:22 pm
We can beat VT. There defense is suspect (see C. Michigan and NC State). We just have to execute!
October 29th, 201012:27 pm
Let me clarify my video comment, if I may: Everyone is fine…but the big scoring plays aren’t happening as frequently in the passing or rushing games.
This season 10 touchdowns that have covered at least 20 yards have been scored. Twelve were scored last year.
Statistically, things are better than last season.
I don’t know, it may just be that everything seems better through memories….
October 29th, 201012:53 pm
“We could be better, but not win as many games.” – Paul Johnson
October 29th, 20101:00 pm
ALL it takes is a spark…I’ve said this from the outset, we need SOMEONE to step up and lead this team from the ranks. Nesbitt is too ‘chill’ for this…Anthony Allen could step up in this department. IF this happens, I think we could put together a solid game and season. This isn’t CPJ’s first rodeo…he stated at the beginning of the season that he believes that this could be a great team…I believe him! GO TECH!!!
October 29th, 20101:12 pm
Wow, some of you people sound like you are jumping off the GA Tech bandwagon. I 2nd what JoeyGT has to say.. Stop your whining you big babies. The writing was on the wall before the season started that Tech may slip this year….New coaches, 4 talented Juniors left, two offensive lineman left before they eligibilty ran out.
Tech has no threat in the passing game. Opposing linebackers are just crushing down on the line without any fear of a pass. The sad thing is even when Nesbitt hits his receiver there is only a 50/50 chance the ball is caught. Maybe Hill can put his hands of stone to a better use playing as a DB. As a father I feel sorry for the kid because so many people (like me) are dumping on him based on media/fan expectations but as a fan it really ticks me off to see a receiver get hit in the hands and drop the ball consistently.
October 29th, 20101:22 pm
The stats aren’t that different, but we’re missing the big playmakers on both sides of the ball. Last year in acc championship, Clemson’s driving to win, we haven’t stopped them all game, and on 4th down Parker needs 2yds in open field and D. Morgan makes a play…This year Bay-Bay would make the TD caatch that Hill dropped, M. Burnett doesn’t let that punt get in the endzone and someone recovers that fumbled kick-off. A. Allen is great but can’t take it to the house we he gets in the open field like Dwyer could. The playmakers are the difference. Nesbitt’s not enough by himself.
October 29th, 20102:03 pm
Tech’s not very good, but the problem isn’t coaching or the schemes we are running. The problem is we don’t have a wide receiver on the roster who has sure hands and can makes plays, and we are getting manhandled on the lines. Our lines have got to get bigger, meaner, and more physical. Clemson crushed our O-line and we couldn’t punish them by passing the ball. Unless something comes together quickly, Georgia’s going to beat us by 20.
As usual, our fans start giving up in the midst of adversity. Nesbitt is not a throwing QB, he has proven that. But, the scary thing is, none of the backups can even challenge his skill. Yes, when you can’t throw the ball, defenses are going tho tee off on the run. This is a challenging year for our team. You people kill me with the attitude of having to win every game. I guess CPJ has spoiled us with the great seasons he’s had. You want Chan back with his “I’m satisfied with winning 7 games a season” attitude? yeah, we need work. The offensive line is small, and is being manhandled. With the 3-4 defense, you need a ‘beast’ at noseguard, at least 350. It will get better, but understand that things are not going to always go well. As a matter of fact, go ahead and jump of the wagon. Act like the UGAg fans. We’re better off without you!
Go Jackets! THWG!
October 29th, 20102:04 pm
Great point Reebok!
October 29th, 20102:19 pm
Coach Paul Bear Bryant said ” you can’t have chicken soup if you don’t have the chickens ” and we don’t have the chickens… CPJ can’t recruit and Granpa Groh needs a rocking chair…
October 29th, 20102:23 pm
Georgia Tech is missing D Morgan more than anyone in my opinion. He could make the offense look better by giving them short fields and getting the defense off the field.
October 29th, 20102:26 pm
To hell with Georgia and all fair weather fans. My two favorite teams will always be the Yellow Jackets and whoever is playing georgia. May they be bathed in Gator pee this weekend.
October 29th, 20102:54 pm
Isn’t it funny that Roberson writes like a fan of the Jackets and JS writes like an annoyance to the Bulldogs. Hey Roberson, take a lead from JS and talk about those Tech “student Athletes…”
October 29th, 20103:10 pm
Paul, Let me coach he defense, okay? You see what I have done with the defense. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!BAHAHA!!!!BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
October 29th, 20103:55 pm
CPJ can’t recruit compared to what? Chan? We’ve alredy recruiting better than Chan in the last two years, that’s why so many of his recruits are having to sit in favor of CPJ recruits (Rod Sweeting, Orwin Smith, Isaiah Johnson, Julian Burnett, Jeremiah Attachou, and as bad as he has been dropping the ball this year, even Stephen Hill is still on the field becuase all of Chan’s recruits behind him are even less talented and less reliable)
October 29th, 20104:38 pm
Our hope is that we win another game to become bowl eligible…our concern is that we won’t!
Hopefully the team can take the bye week to rest and get their heads straight…it sure worked for NC State.
GO JACKETS!! BEAT THE HOKIES!!
October 29th, 20104:53 pm
I have not lost faith but just live in reality. GT has not lost 2 straight this year AMG because we have not played 2 teams worth a crap back to back so your comments are misguided. Can we beat VT? Sure we can. We will we? If we play like the team in the last 4 games or kansas, we will get dominated. Take a look at what VT has done to two teams we have played? We went 1-1 and almost lost to wake ( a terrible team) and they dominated them. The proof is in the pudding bro! If there is one thing i can’t stand it’s a homer man. What good does it do to tell yourself we are going to win if you don’t believe it. What has this team proven that gives you confidence that it can beat a GOOD team? I’m a show me kinda of guy! Show me and i will believe!
@ GT JAKE
Let me get this correct…you still live in that bubble? Wear what you man, it doesn’t change the fact that we are not a good football team right now. I say to you as well… what has this team accomplished to be called a good team? We have beaten 1 team that will go to a bowl game. We lost to kansas, nearly wake, smoked by NC ST and clemson. Neither team is even ranked!! The acc is flat terrible this year and that doesn’t help our case either. This is the toughest stretch in our schedule and the most beatable team in those 3 games just manhandled us. The score didn’t tell the whole story. Another poor performance yet again. Nesbitt is not an option QB and we lack a real chip on our shoulders. No leadership has stepped up at all. 6-6 is most likely and the homers can be upset all they want.
October 29th, 20105:58 pm
Ya’ll are doing a great job keep it up.macriod go back to your trophy post and recheck my spelling you made a mistake. It must be humiliating to have me correct you.
October 29th, 20106:53 pm
am i really supposed to care about the retarded opinion of someone who can’t spell YOU or SO, lol?
you don’t matter. neither does your opinion. welcome to the world of “superdawg”
October 29th, 20108:34 pm
Doug’s right – we remember the good stuff and forget the bad. It took overtime to beat Wake at home last year. We couldn’t stop Vandy. stop whining guys.
October 29th, 20108:47 pm
My opinion on the option NOT to do more with BJ BOSTIC or ORWIN SMITH is simply… both are not that big. According to CPJ, BOSTIC is 165 and tiny… he probably wants to make sure his two future stars don’t go out with career ending injuries. Seems like a reasonable plan when you have seniors and juniors in the offence that should be producing, but aren’t produciing as they should.
October 29th, 20108:48 pm
October 29th, 20109:35 pm
You don’t recruit kids and NOT put a redshirt on them only to have them available and say ” hey, i can’t play him because of his weight”??? Seriously?
CPJ would have put a redshirt on him this year if your theory was accurate. That was a wild statement and off base. Orwin is 212 lbs man and 6 ft tall. How big does he need to be to tote the rock? Remember a guy named warrick dunn? He didn’t play a GT but it proves a guy doesn’t have to be huge to play rb. Backs at GT are different in that we have a true rotation and there really isn’t a feature back that will get it 20-25 times per game really. So you actually wouldn’t take the beating that you would think even in this offense. The X factor is CAN YOU BLOCK in this offense? Bostic could bulk up some but he is a spark and you must have a game changer at times when things are not going so well. When everyone else is getting stuffed, why not see what he can do? A screen pass, Reverse or just hand it to him on a sweep. The kid IS QUICK! Orwin has been productive and i would like to see more of him. The other guys don’t seem to be blocking either so it is a collective effort that everyone needs to pull their weight and these guys are not doing their part up front. This goes for both lines really. We are soft as oatmeal on both lines with no killer instinct. You gotta be nasty in the trenches. We really lack the nastiness it takes to pound people in this offense at this point. I’m hoping we can go 2-2 in these last 4 but i just don’t know.
October 30th, 201011:15 am
We need to start recruting highly ranked players. PJ can talk all he wants about the inaccuracy of player ratings, but those are the guys the top rated teams recruit and guess what…they win. Our juniors that just went to the NFL were all highly rated and we are missing them now. PJ needs to get a really good recruiting team to do a better job of securing talent. He said our offensive line was manhandled by those big defensive guys at Clemson. What do you expect when we are still recruiting smaller linemen than the defensive prospects for the competition.
October 30th, 201011:42 am
from what i see the removal of #80 daniel mckayhan has hurt our return game. i also thinks that if you have WR’s out there that dont chach the ball the outher guys should at least have chance to try , but one thing is for sure is that #5 SH is not the guy .corey earls has stepped it up thats been great.
October 30th, 201012:59 pm
superDawg, I don’t have to go back…your history speaks well enough for any of us that need to get dumbed down to understand your posts. You passion for anything to do with Tech is well documented, as well! GO TECH!!!

October 30th, 20102:40 pm
superDawg, very interesting persona, I believe that I studied your species in biology class back in the 60’s. If memory serves me you are of class “Asinine erectus” distinguishable by the large mouth, small bone, and pot belly. Now put your muzzle back on like a good boy.
