Guillermo Gomez, Tennis, Senior, Alicante, Spain
Gomez, the nation’s fourth-ranked player and the top seed in last weekend’s Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga., reached the finals of that event for the second straight year, this time without losing a set, and was scheduled to meet 14th-ranked Javier Garrapiz of Georgia, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, Monday morning at 11 a.m. Gomez defeated Carson Kadi of Samford (6-1, 6-2), Eduardo Pavia of Miami (6-0, 6-0), Jarryd Botha of Alabama (6-4, 6-4), Sadio Doumbia of Georgia (6-2, 6-0) and Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt (6-2, 6-0) to reach the championship match.
