Georgia Tech will scrimmage on Friday and coach Paul Johnson said a depth chart will be released afterward.
Should things go well on Friday, Johnson said the team will have Saturday and Sunday off before returning on Monday to begin final preparations for the season-opening game against S.C. State.
This will be the third scrimmage the team has held during August. It is not open to the public.
There are still several position battles being waged: both offensive tackles, one guard, both safeties, kicker, punter and kick-returner.
Etc.
B-back Anthony Allen didn’t participate in practice for a second consecutive day after sustaining a blow to the head earlier this week. He will return on Friday, Johnson said. Allen was recently named to a watchlist for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best running back. … B-back Preston Lyons was awarded a scholarship earlier this month. … Johnson said he hadn’t heard the developing news regarding North Carolina’s football team. “I’ve got enough problems taking care of Georgia Tech.”… Though a decision won’t be made for several games, Johnson said freshman linebacker Quayshawn Nealy and defensive end Anthony Williams will likely redshirt. Defensive tackle Shawn Green, a freshman from Grayson, may play. … Jon Lockhart has been moved to wide receiver. He was a defensive back. A redshirt sophomore, he mostly played special teams last season. … Johnson again praised S.C. State. “Their quarterback [Malcolm Long] is bigger than our linemen. He’s 265. And talented,” Johnson said. Tech’s projected defensive line averages 283 pounds.
Here is a projected depth chart I posted earlier this week. I updated two positions.

GT fans complain about how UGA opens up against a week opponent, and their right. All UGA does is open up against a week opponent, GT’s whole SCHEDULE is against week competition. If GT beats UGA this year, then start talking trash. Oh, one other thing, GT’s running back last year was a fatty and he wobbled when he walked. Just an observation.

It’s spelled WEAK you moron. Not that I expect a uga fan to show much intelligence. And 4 of our opponents are ranked. I guarantee you just like last year, by the end of the season, GT will have a harder strenght of schedule.

GoDawgsGOOO, Hey moron, you forgot to pick up my trash by the road this morning! And explain this, how can you spell “schedule” and “observation” correctly and yet your retarded arse can’t spell “weak”? Don’t forget the trash in the am, moron!

I have to respond to you on here since Doug decided I was on to something and closed comments on the other blog. Why did you get so angry and bitter? Calling me a “retard” and a “troll?” Did I call you a single a name? No, because I’m not a child. Unlike you, the facts ARE on my side so I have no reason to get upset and emotional like a woman. I simply wanted further explanation to something that smells fishy. Clearly I touched a nerve with you and you also smell something dirty here, hence your immature knee-jerk reaction to name calling. You know good and well that there is something wrong with this story. Saying he wasn’t ABLE to pursue a particular program at a school when it’s offered, yet is able to do it at a more sought after institute makes absolutely no sense. So instead of deflecting with childish names, why not engage the actual story?

Several observations:
Anthony Allen has the worst mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Just not a good look.
I have a bad feeling about tomorrow’s scrimmage. There are going to be some major injuries. Tech has missed the injury bug for too long.
Tech’s defensive line will never hold up through the season. Too small and slow to compete with the Big Boys. Will be interesting to see how Ben Anderson responds after an ACL. Tough injury for defensive linemen who put so much torque on their hips, knees and ankles.

hahahahahha, some moron on here pointing the finger at GT’s opponents when ugay plays Sisters of the Lafayette and Idaho of the Poor, not to mention no Bama and no LSU. Maybe GT ought to call the ACC and tell them we are sick of playing Clemson and afterall they are not in our division anyway. NOT We say bring the d@mn game on. Maybe next time you will know the difference between “week” and “weak”. Ignorance runs rampant in the SEC

What makes anyone think people that don’t wear dawg jerseys and camo pants still care about the Dawgs? It’s getting harder to get people to understand who you’re referring to when you say “the dawgs” anymore. People ask questions like, “Which dawgs? You mean Washington? That relevant team with the decent quarterback that’s gonna make a run out west? Or MSU? Ya know they have Dan Mullen now. Definitely trending upward. They’ll scare Arky and LSU for sure this year – count on it.”
I mean, if this is where you need to be to feel cared about then, by all means, be our guest. Read our pokey little blog on our hometown newspaper website, bone up on every little detail about our team, and then spew your steamy pile of redneck filth as if we care. But keep in mind – we don’t care.

Why can’t GA Tech learn from UGA and schedule the worst schools in the FCS and non-BCS conferences like Idaho and UL Laf? Why didn’t Tech take a hint from Alabama and schedule GA St in their first season? No Tech has to schedule SC St (playoff team) and Midd Tenn St (bowl game winner).

No offense, but to both the GT fans out there, and the classless pups out there, can we please actually discuss the relevant topic at hand instead of every damn blog coming down to pointless mudslinging that does nothing but piss everyone off? It really is pointless when the season hasn’t even started.

LOL!!!! You sure got the nerds riled up!!! Do you know why? Because they would love for UGA to have a kid transfer there claiming the reason why he came is for a degree that they offer, meanwhile it’s offered at his original school. They are fuming that this scandal happened to them!! You are dang right this story reeks to the high heavens!!! Of course Doug isn’t going to say anything more about it because he realizes he let the cat out of the bag!! I love it!!!

If you dog fans are gonna post stick to last years football score, or how many stars or number of arrest or recruits that don’t qualify or grayshirted players, or how many points a 3 pointer is worth.
Don’t talk about quality of education or earnings or academic scandals or player behavior. 2010 arrest totals, dogtards 10, Tech 3.

Ealey may be back…Ealey may NOT be back. Driving @ 3am on a suspended license, then hitting a parked car and being told by witnesses to not leave because THE POLICE ARE ON THEIR WAY, then driving off anyway is a SERIES of serious lapses in judgment – of course that seems to be the “in” thing at the UGAG Athletic Dept these days.
Richt should kick him off the team (after he bails him out of jail). That’s the ONLY WAY you send a message that this kind of s#i! isn’t going to be tolerated at UGAG anymore. The fact that Ealey would even do something like cruise around at 3am on a suspended license specifically means he thought he could get away with it. There is NO FEAR of consequences for actions off the field in that program…There really needs to be.
Why is UGAG constantly trying to defend its crown of most football players arrested per year against the likes of the U of FLA Gators or the Tenn Vols? Quite frankly, it’s an embarrassment for THIS STATE that one of its 2 flagship public colleges is constantly in the news for all of the wrong reasons. The AJC knows it too and won’t even permit comments on a blog about the arrest!
Will Richt kick him off the team? No, and EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS IT…And that’s WHY this won’t be the last time this kind of thing rears its ugly head at UGAG. ESPN was plastering this story all over the airwaves this morning. How pathetic that this kind of thing is tolerated and “punished” with 1/2 game suspensions. Your program is only as strong as the one at the top making all of the decisions. And yet another FAILURE by him to take these illegal activities seriously says all that needs to be said. More will follow…
