I’ll be on vacation for the next two weeks, spending time with my family and watching the world’s coolest sporting event. When I return, who knows what the ACC will look like? Perhaps it will stay the same. I doubt it, though.
While I’m gone, I hope that you will share your favorite Tech sports moments from the past season on the blog.
Two of the coolest ones for me:
There are plenty more in basketball, baseball, etc. Let’s hear yours….and Georgia fans, let’s be cool and not hijack the thread.
The inside scoop on Georgia Tech sports from beat writer Ken Sugiura

Best moment you ask?
I gotta go with the scratchy throat that all tech fans seem to still have. I think it’s the left over pain of removing the fooball that we rammed down there, last Nov.
Maybe it will get better before we do it again, in 5 months.

RDR so what you are saying is that the great intellectual state of Georgia sends kids to UGA and then the 48th best educating state has those same students leave UGA as Teachers to stay in Georgia. AHHAHAHA. The INSTITUTZE educates the World and the World comes to the INSTITUTE to get an education. You proved your own point. How many points does the biggest Deer head have that you are DISPLAYING in your “Home”.

RDR,
If you wish to avoid Tech morons, leave this site. Very simple. You crave this like a crack addict, sad that this is what your life has come to.
With regard to all of our students returning to their homelands, are you really that simple? Do you not see that Tech is an international destination school for people all over the world seeking a quality technical education. You were aware that these places we are speaking of are schools? Those are places people go to get knowledge and learn trades and skills that will allow them to earn a living. Being a UGA fan, it makes sense that you are unfamiliar with this concept. You are really pitiful.

RDR so TECH has people of all cultures attending our school? Uga is 57% female. 09-10 UGA enrollment lists 2679 African Americans, 1800 Asians, and 1000 Hispanics out of 26k+ students. I would like to walk a campus that looks more like the world I will work in, other than the Fake Blonde Bimbo, Good Ole Boy Redneck, Suburban Jack-offs that attend UGA.

Best Moment at a Tech game this past year, I would say Derrick Morgan getting the sack against Wake Forest, preventing a field goal, and sending the game into overtime where we all saw what kind of guts Paul Johnson has. That play saved the season.

My favorite memory is not GT admitting to 10 NCAA rules violations and an athlete in trouble with the law. Say it isn’t so. Where are all the GT fans who like to jump on UGA when some silly NCAA rule is mistakenly broken and when some athlete who has athletic tallent but no comon sence gets in trouble. He probably should have gone to UGA. Except that Mark Richt would have sent him packing. What will his punishment be at GIT? Lets wait and see.

Here’s a bit of history from a historian :
The modern rules of football are based on the mid-19th century
efforts to standardise the widely varying forms of football played a
t the public schools of England.
The Cambridge Rules, first drawn up at Cambridge University in 1848, were particularly
influential in the development of subsequent codes, including association
football. The Cambridge Rules were written at Trinity College, Cambridge, at a meeting
attended by representatives from Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Winchester and Shrewsbury schools.
They were not universally adopted. During the 1850s, many clubs unconnected to schools or
universities were formed throughout the English-speaking world, to play various forms of football.
Some came up with their own distinct codes of rules, most notably the Sheffield Football Club, formed
by former public school pupils in 1857,] which led to formation of a Sheffield FA in 1867. In 1862, John Charles Thring of Uppingham School also devised an influential set of rules.
These ongoing efforts contributed to the formation of The Football Association (The FA) in 1863, which first met on the morning of 26 October 1863 at the Freemasons’ Tavern in Great Queen Street, London. The only school to be represented on this occasion was Charterhouse. The Freemason’s Tavern was the setting for five more meetings between October and December, which eventually produced the first comprehensive set of rules. At the final meeting, the first FA treasurer, the representative from Blackheath, withdrew his club from the FA over the removal of two draft rules at the previous meeting: the first allowed for running with the ball in hand; the second for obstructing such a run by hacking (kicking an opponent in the shins), tripping and holding. Other English rugby football clubs followed this lead and did not join the FA, or subsequently left the FA and instead in 1871 formed the Rugby Football Union. The eleven remaining clubs, under the charge of Ebenezer Cobb Morley, went on to ratify the original thirteen laws of the game. These rules included handling of the ball by “marks” and the lack of a crossbar, rules which made it remarkably similar to Victorian rules football being developed at that time in Australia. The Sheffield FA played by its own rules until the 1870s with the FA absorbing some of its rules until there was little difference between the games.
