Georgia Tech (45-13) will open against Mercer (37-22) in its NCAA baseball regional. The game will be on Friday.
Alabama (37-22) will take on Elon (38-22) in the other game. This is the second consecutive year that the Phoenix are in Atlanta for a regional.
The games will be be played Friday through Monday at Russ Chandler Stadium in a double-elimination format.
Mercer defeated Jacksonville to win the Atlanta Sun Conference tournament and clinch its first berth in the regionals. Alabama lost to LSU, 4-3, in the SEC tournament championship game.
The regional is Tech’s 24th appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last 26 years and its 26th overall. This marks the eighth time in 11 years that Tech has hosted a regional and out of those, the Jackets advanced five times. Overall, the Jackets are 24-15 in regional play at home.
