Tech will open against Mercer

Georgia Tech (45-13) will open against Mercer (37-22) in its NCAA baseball regional. The game will be on Friday.

Alabama (37-22) will take on Elon (38-22) in the other game. This is the second consecutive year that the Phoenix are in Atlanta for a regional.

The games will be be played Friday through Monday at Russ Chandler Stadium in a double-elimination format.

Mercer defeated Jacksonville to win the Atlanta Sun Conference tournament and clinch its first berth in the regionals. Alabama lost to LSU, 4-3, in the SEC tournament championship game.

The regional is Tech’s 24th appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last 26 years and its 26th overall. This marks the eighth time in 11 years that Tech has hosted a regional and out of those, the Jackets advanced five times. Overall, the Jackets are 24-15 in regional play at home.

First is worth nothing. But, saying “First” causes a loss of dignity.

To all you UGA fans and alum that visit our blog, I wish you louzy team the best of luck next year in baseball. Of course, all the UGA bloggers will post blogs stating they don’t care about the NCAA baseball tournament, but that is because the mutts are no where to be found this year. If UGA was in the field, UGA fans would be talking crap, but since they are pathetic in baseball, nobody at UGA cares. This just fits the crappy mold at UGA. Since all of you other sports teams are louzy, you should consider rooting on your lady mutts in the softball tourney. At least you will have something to look forward to until football season starts, then we will here all your BS about the almighty SEC and how good your louzy overated team is this year. After looking at your schedule in football and realizing you only play two superior teams, those being UF and GT and the only ranked teams on your schedule, one must think that someone at UGA is blowing someone in the NCAA’s scheduling department. Your schedule is a JOKE! Don’t get on here and blog your sorry azzes off when you play the likes of Idaho State, Vandy, Kentucky, Miss State, and the likes. This year is like every other year if your are a Dawg fan. One of two excuses will occur. Either it’s a rebuilding year, or next year is your year to win a NC. I got news for ya mutts, GT’s schedule is much harder than your louzy teams. Also, it’s nice to see that GT did make the NCAA’s in baseball, and will host a regional, not to mention we beat your baseball team like 28-6, which will be the football score this year, when the Jackets and Josh Nesbitt run all over you between the hedges. Go get em dawgs. Your losers! THWG!

First, I think it’s awesome that the GT Alum spells lousy with a “z”.

But beyond that, I will stick with the National Championship UGA has (to Tech’s zero National Championships) as well as UGA’s 6 College World Series appearances to Tech’s 3.

I also think it’s awesome that you open up your comments by suggesting that all UGA fans do is talk “crap”… and then proceed to talk crap.

Nice going!

Go Mercer Bears.

GT grad: I am a UGA fan. Are you that ignorant? You don’t seem to remember Georgia’s national championship in the 90’s and the national championship series they blew vs Fresno State. Has Tech gone that far???? If Tech is a far superior baseball program, then why have they missed the CWS so many times? Get the facts right before you talk smack you moron! Now….I’m cheering Tech on. I hope they do well. I’m not a hater….but it’s childish of you to talk smack without knowing the facts. You graduated there? Really?

What does Hall and Gailey have in common? They both can’t coach. Good luck anyway Jackets. Please beat the Bamers. Life here in L.A. (Lower Alabama) has been ruff since January. For example, I had a Bamer tell me the other day at the post office, and I quote, “Ol’ Georger Tech didnt do to good last year.” I replied, “No, 11 wins and a conference title was tough to take.” Go Jackets! THWG!

And let me add…You wanted to talk smack about UGA’s schedule… Jax State??? Miss. ST??? How about comparing Tech’s wussy football schedule to UGA’s over the last few years! Ok St, Colorado, Arizona St, with LSU, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, etc etc. Tech got beat by a pathetic Iowa team! Tech’s offense is easy to beat if teams stick to their defensive schemes. It’s been proven (see UGA last year…see LSU.. see Iowa). Now…They’ll do good again. I don’t care! But you sound so ignorant and you’re an embarrassment to all Tech Alum’s with your lack of research when talking smack. You’re simply an idiot! And it’s been a pleasure to make you look like a fool! Best of luck to the rest of you well educated Tech fans.

GT Alum must not be having a good Memorial Day weekend. The Dawgs had a bad season in baseball. So be it. BTW how did the last football game bewteen the “crickets” and Dawgs” work out.

I would suggest you spend your efforts lobbying your AD not to accept an invitation into the SEC if one is forthcoming. It is doubtful it will come as Clemson appears more appealing.

Jeff, calm down son. Tech has played Auburn, Miami, VT, Clemson, Notre Dame, West Virginia, FSU and Stanford on there football schedule the past 10 years. To say we have a wussy football schedule is a stretch. It’s not we are playing the sisters of the poor. The only team u guys play every year that is worth a crap are the gators. That’s it. Tenn and Aub suck,. You got beat by Kentucky in Athens. You really don’t have much to brag about either so you do some research before you talk bud. Just sayin

As long as D. Hall is coaching the Tech baseball team will be just like the UGA football team under Richt/Donnan/Golf, lots and lots of talents with no national championships to show for it. Ga. Tech consistently has a top 5 recruiting class and consistently gets knocked out in the regional or super regional. This isn’t due to a lack of talent, its simply b/c Danny Hall is not a good coach.

To UGAg fans….

Why ‘woof’ about yourself and talk down ANYONE else, especially GA Tech this year? Let’s review ugag accomplishments THIS YEAR for your mens sports, shall we?

1. Sheveport bowl – no division champs, no conference champs, no BCS bowl
2. No NCAA tourney in basketball
3. No CWS regional in baseball

Yet, some of you ‘fans’ still manage to come to a GA Tech blog and spout crap? Talk about no class! (as if everyone didn’t already know that)

Now, let’s look at the GA Tech mens sports results for THIS YEAR…..

1. Conference Champ, BCS Bowl
2. NCAA basketball tourney
3. CWS regional host

Wow – certainly even a doggie fan can see the difference here….. then again, considering your average IQ, maybe not.

The NATS “defense” couldn’t hold my left nut to 6 points. And if you’re a GT Grad, I’m a Harvard professor.

And LOL @ Reality bleating about “no class”. Why don’t you stop endlessly trolling the UGA blogs before you talk about class, you pathetic loser.
