Apparently, Anthony Allen and a few teammates took exception to something that ESPN’s Heather Dinich wrote.

finally, Heather gets Biiiaaaatch slapped and it is about time. You know Heather you have dissed Ga Tech way too long and what did you expect? Even though you despise GT you should be mature and smart enough to say GT has a chance but you cannot even do that. Oh and BTW, Nesbitt for Heisman in 2010 and nobody but nobody gives a d @ m n about your opinion on that subject either. GO JACKETS

…but I will agree that as Nesbitt goes, so go the j’kets – he was way bigger than AA in that video, so if he can get some blocking then the j’kets will be OK…

We have the horses we need to make the offense work as well, if not better than last year. Joshua & company will be able to score on anybody. Now, If the defensive team can master the 3-4 we can go undefeated this coming year. It’s hard to believe that we won as many games as we did with the defense we had the last couple of years (watch especially the Clemson games, any of them).

Lance

Uga will start the season with an uncomfortably close game against La-Lafayette. Murray will simply have a hard time getting things going. They’ll then follow it up with a stunning loss in SC the next week. Arkansas is a toss up, but their offense will probably roll over your d. It all depends on if your offense can finally get it going. Then in a surprise upset, Mississippi State’s Meyer spread option, which ga has been absolutely INCAPABLE of stopping the past few years, will absolutely maul the dogs defense. Best case at the end of September 2-2. Strong chance of 1-3.

The real question is which home game will be the first one that the whole crowd leaves early for.

Kinda like when the Gay Tech “fans” don’t even show up to fill your Joke by Coke unless the Dawgs are in town. Whatever, have a nice time wishing Fat Boy Dwyer, your overhyped 6th rounder was here to save you. Dawgs season doesn’t have anything to do with your season until the last game. Three questions:
1.) What is Anthony Allen’s major?
2.) What is the average tech crowd for a Wake or a mighty Maryland or an NC State? Clemson brings them to town for sure. NC maybe also and of course the DAWGS do too.
3.) Notice how all the so called tech fans just jumped on the prospect of getting back into the SEC?

Well, um, where are they? Recruiting for 2011 class is fully under way and Tech has no names or actually ………no bodies and UGA already has the # 2 Qb and tons of others to sign on soon.

Gulp ………….maybe when Groh mentions that he once stood on the sideline or an NFL game in 1968, that today’s kids simply do not relate to ancient history.

Proof is in the pudding. Where are the big timers? Huhhhhhhhhhhhhhh???

Reality, whats wrong, mom cleaned the basement and now you can’t find your D and D game you left going. Did your WoW server crash or something. I’m not trying to slam the football team, just the fact that Tech fans like to point out that some UGA “fans” got up and left a game last year, while their own stadium is never full unless the Dawgs are in town. That is actually true. Also, I was at the Kentucky game, I saw the fans leaving, and it pissed me off to no end. But, even after they left, there were more than enough to overflow the Joke by Coke. I hope those people who left never come to another UGA game, they aren’t true fans. But for you to flame like that just shows what the average Tech fan’s mentality is: 3rd Grade rhetoric. And in terms of winning games, take a look at the records: 8 out of 9 biaaatch. Lick it.

TO DAWG FANS….

You are the only ones that care at all about selling seats and filling stadiums. No one else gives a darn. We at GA Tech care about winning games – maybe you should shift your priority? I know that seems to be the ONLY thing that you have to hang your hat on, but that is very pitiful, indeed!

Real Tech fans don’t want to consider leaving the ACC, much less joining the SEC. We realize that the ACC is far superior in all measures – total revenue, basketball, football, baseball, etc. Why should we consider stepping down to the SEC? Yes, GA Tech has history there, but that is just history. The future is the ACC.

DEVIL DAWG – I’ll call you out. Why are you on the Tech blog? Have you run out of things to talk about from Shreveport? The ugag is meaningless in the national picture and in the SEC picture and in your own division picture. Go back to your dog house with your tail between your legs.

One reason why the Jackets can repeat as ACC champs that Allen forgot (probably because he don’t have a number) is Paul Johnson.

I feel like Johnson is the ultimate “let me show you” coach. PJ doesn’t have bad years after he gets a program up and “running”. So until something else shows different, why would you bet against Paul Johnson?

GT might not repeat as ACC champs, but it won’t be because of any of the reasons that Heather Dinich might think (losing Dwyer, Thomas, Morgan & Burnett or switching defenses or whatever)…it would be because a whole lot of key players get injured for long stretches or because PJ is beamed up to an alien space craft to bring the perfect option to another galaxy.

Allen was right, Dinich picked against GT all season long (including both games against Clemson…duh Heather, GT always beats Clemson) and was wrong all season. Keep on picking against GT Heather…please!!!

To GT12, Reality 1:18 p.m. and GTAluminRocketCity:

I admire your passion for your Jackets, but unfortunately like many of your fellow fans, you view the world through rose colored glasses. Please consider the FACTS:

FACT: The ACC is NOT superior to the SEC as Reality said here: “We realize that the ACC is far superior in all measures – total revenue, basketball, football, baseball, etc. Why should we consider stepping down to the SEC?”

The SEC is VASTLY SUPERIOR in football dude, do you WATCH the games? South Carolina beat a supposedly better Clemson team, my Georgia Bulldogs beat a HIGHLY RANKED Tech team, Florida dominates FSU, etc. etc. etc. etc. The SEC has had what, four straight national champs? how many SEC teams have finished in the top 10 in the last 10 years? Fla., UGA, Auburn, LSU, Bama, Tennessee, etc. etc. etc. Aside from FSU and Miami in the early 2000s, what have ACC teams done? Tech and Va. Tech and Clemson are OCCASIONALLY good but then get beat in bowl games. So the SEC dominates the football argument. The two leagues are a wash in basketball/baseball, each having its respective strong teams, but if you look at the OVERALL picture, the SEC is vastly superior, top to bottom, success-wise and money-wise and attendance-wise, than the ACC.

FACT: GTAluminRocketCity at 12:02 p.m. said Tech has a shot at going “undefeated” this year. Really? This is pretty much the same team, without Dwyer, Thomas, Morgan and Burnett, that lost 3 games. Plus, your schedule is kinda tough this year… road games at Kansas, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Clemson, Va. Tech AND Georgia? You’ll lose AT LEAST two of those… maybe one home game… so you’re looking at maybe 9-3, 10-3. Don’t start tossing around the word “undefeated” unless you have a team with NO weaknesses, an easy schedule with hard games on your home field, and a lot of momentum going into the season. You just lost to freakin’ Iowa, and you have lost 8 of 9 to my Bulldogs… be thankful if you go 9-3 and get to the ACC title game, okay?

FACT: The fact that you guys think UGA is going to have some god-awful season is a joke. You think we’ll be 1-3 in September? PLEASE! We have dominated both South Carolina AND Arkansas over the last 20 years. We beat BOTH last year with a VASTLY weaker team than this year. And we have a better, more settled situation at QB, RB, WR, and defensive coordinator than last year. Yes, UGA may wind up 8-4 at the end of the year, but we also have the TALENT to go 10-2.

FINAL FACT: UGA football is better, overall, top to bottom, period, than Tech over the last 40 years. UGA has won more games, won more bowls, won more conference titles, beaten Tech more, and had more national recognition than Tech. In 2008, UGA went 10-3 and you would have thought we went 0-13 by the disappointment and frustration of our fans. Last year, Tech goes 11-3 and it’s hailed as the “greatest season in YEARS!” by jacket fans, even though you lost to your biggest rival and fell flat in your bowl game on national TV.

The difference is expectations: Georgia goes into every year EXPECTING to be a contender in the SEC and on the national stage, while Tech HOPES to win 9 or 10 games and get to a “big bowl.” While the last 3 years may not have been Georgia’s best, I’ll take Mark Richt’s body of work at Georgia ANY DAY over smug CPJ and his promises of potential.

See you on the field, boys. Good luck in every game except Nov. 27.

Jeff

2:07 pm

P.S. And one more note… Tech fans, beware of a coach promising this and that and showing a lot of bravado early in his career… Weis did it at Notre Dame, Spurrier at South Carolina, Kiffin at Tennessee, Callahan at Nebraska, etc. It’s one thing to SAY, another thing to DO. CPJ may wind up being a great coach and lead Tech to all kind of championships, but until he does, if I were a jacket fan, I would tell him to SHUT UP until he beats UGA consistently, wins bowls consistently, and is in the national title hunt consistently.

Until then, keep the fire on him and make him produce. His smugness may wind up costing him in the long run if he doesn’t go 11-1 or 12-0 every year. If your opponents start to figure out the option offense, and unless Groh can turn back the clock on his career by 20 years, Tech may again be entering a Gailey-like stretch of mediocrity. I’m not saying it will happen or wishing it on you… i’m just sayin’ watch out.

Al Groh (born July 13, 1944) is the defensive coordinator of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team.[1] He is also a former head coach of the University of Virginia football team, and the former head coach of the New York Jets of the NFL. He is a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year, winning the award in 2002 and 2007. Groh has over 38 years of professional and collegiate coaching experience; this history includes 13 seasons in the NFL, a Super Bowl title with the New York Giants, and over a decade of working under coach Bill Parcells.

Thanks Dr. Kenneth. And I have no idea what GT12 is talking about… HE is the one that was orgasmic about Tech’s chances of going undefeated this year….

All I am doing is being a realist. Tech has lost 2 games or less only THREE TIMES in the last 40 years… Georgia has lost 2 games or less TWELVE TIMES in the last 40 years. Tech has won two outright conference titles and shared one… Georgia has won five outright conference titles.

I am just saying history wise, Tech’s chances of going unbeaten and dominating the ACC for years to come aren’t very likely. Georgia, with it’s coaching stability and outstanding recruiting, has a good shot at going 10-2 or 11-1 and competing on a national stage about every other year.

And gtfan1951… we’re not saying Groh doesn’t have a good NFL background… we’re just thinking “Wow, didn’t translate to a lot of success with the Jets or with Virginia… how is it going to be different at Tech?”

I’m happy with UGA’s pick of Grantham… lot of recent success with some outstanding NFL defenses with the Cowboys (Dallas’s failures have mostly been because of Tony Romo and TO and Wade Phillips, not the defensive schemes.)

Groh may turn out to be a great addition for Tech… but if I were a Jackets fan, I would worry that he won’t get much more out of the defense than we’ve seen in recent years.

And jacket&coke…. how did that BCS game turn out? Not so well, if I remember. Good luck getting back there.
