A middle schooler could’ve run through those holes. Congrats. You were able to run on us just like VT, Clemson (2X), Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt (lol). Do you want a trophy? Had Nesbitt’s leg been twisted in the pile during one of those games, we may have lost one of them as well. I think you truly underestimate how bad our defense was last year. The stats lie because we had the ball for almost 40 minutes a game.

Jeff,
You have to understand that the ACC IS superior to the SEC when all things are added. That is what he is talking about. Yeah, the ACC doesn’t match up on the football field to the SEC, but look at every other sport, as well as academics. There is now way anyone could say the SEC is superior.

I don’t understand the insults that are coming the way of Georgia Tech via Georgia fans. It seems to me the talk is how could Tech possibly be better than last year when they lost four of their best players? If I’m not mistaken, Georgia lost their best defensive player from last year, and their starting quarterback. Georgia Tech lost only one person from their offensive line, which any college football fan would know is a crucial element to the offense. On the offensive side of the ball, Georgia Tech is stronger, faster, and more comfortable with the offense. Defensively, yes, the loss of Derrick Morgan and Morgan Burnett hurt, but their not irreplaceable. The switch to the 3-4 actually works in the favor of Georgia Tech, being that they had 2 linebackers last year that barely even saw the field in Kyle Jackson and Cooper Taylor.
Also, Georgia fans, if you think off the bat Aaron Murray is going to be any better than Joe Cox was last year than you are sadly mistaken. This guy has never even taken a snap in a college football game and if I didn’t know better I’d think he already won the Heisman. Come one guys, let’s be realistic here. Your game is going to be on the ground, and quite frankly, the only time I saw that game come alive last year was against two at best mediocre defenses in Georgia Tech and Texas A&M.
All I’m saying is that I don’t expect an undefeated season out of either of these teams, but best case scenario I do see Georgia Tech having a shot at the ACC Championship, but I don’t see Georgia having a shot, being that they do play in the SEC. The SEC is always tough, and Georgia doesn’t have the depth or the experience to win in that league this year.

Does anyone want to explain what it is that makes UGA fans “delusional” as Tech fans say? Is it that in the CMR era UGA won the East 3 times, the SEC championship 2 times, played in 3 BCS bowl games (2-1), finished (not began) in Top 10 6 times including a #2 and #3 finish? Or could it be because CMR ranks 3rd in win percentage of all active coaches who have coached a minimum of 100 games? Could it be that it’s because UGA has one of the most dedicated and loyal fan bases as evidenced by merchandise sales every year? Is it that UGA routinely has one of the most profitable athletic departments, if not the most profitable, substantiated again by these “delusional” fans who donate to the UGA Educational Enhancement Fund? Or is it a combination of all of the above? Obviously, UGA fans have nothing to be proud of.
Tech fans constantly point to 2008 in which UGA started #1 but finished #10, and deem that season as a titanic-like disaster. Do you realize that even in that season UGA finished with a higher ranking than Tech did this season? It just seems like facts and logic are conveniently left out of many of these arguments.

Somebody please give some financial advice to wesley whatwhat that it is FOOLISH to bet on a losing stock and FOOLISH to bet against a team that has whipped your butt 8 of the last 9 years and 23 of the past 30. But if you insist, wesley my friend, i’ll be glad to throw $20 on to your bet, that you quoted as such: “georgia tech ends with a better overall record than uga in 2010
georgia tech is ranked higher in the final AP poll of the 2010 season
georgia tech beats uga in athens in 2010″
I’ll bet ya UGA wins 9 or 10 games while Tech wins 7 or 8… i’ll bet ya UGA is in the top 15 in the nation, while Tech is around 25… and Tech will NOT win in Athens in November. We’re a better team, have better coaches, and have better personnel this year than in 2009, and we WHIPPED YOUR BUTT in your OWN BACK YARD on NATIONAL TV.
Why this guy would put money on Tech is beyond me. I go with safe stats and odds, and odds are that UGA makes it 9 out of 10 this year.

Greg — you forgot that the UGA basketball teams (women AND men) beat Tech this year, and pretty much have consistently done so over the last few years… that UGA finished second in the SEC overall team sport standings this past year… that UGA has won multiple national championships in a lot of sports including golf, tennis, baseball, etc… and that Georgia has infinitely more possibilities and advantages due to its varied academic programs, incredible fan support, large alumni base, huge donations and grants and scholarship funds, and a beautiful campus?
Tech has some things to be proud of, but overall, I think Georgia has more… personal opinion.

A quick poll: I’ve often wondered, if you could quantify arrogance in a BCS school’s fan base, who would win for most arrogance, Ugag or Notre Dame?
Mind you, I’m not talking only about “ignorant” arrogance: Ugag wins that category easily. I’m talking about the “Total” arrogance factor, including emotional arrogance (like Miami Hurricane fans), insecurity-based arrogance, AND ignorant arrogance.
Ugag or Notre Dame. Cast your vote!

Groh will have better players at Tech? Seriously?
At UVA his first 4 recruiting classes were ranked 10th, 17th, 25th, and 14th according to scout.com, yet he never had fewer than 4 losses. As seniors that 10th ranked class went 7-5 and played in the Music City Bowl. In fact as a coach it would seem that Groh has been a MASSIVE underachiever with top-flight talent!

wow–DEVIL DAWG needs to go back to grade school and learn how to write–or maybe while he was in Athens, he could have taken a “creative writing” course to round out his P.E. and Basketweaving. wesley, WHAT are you basing your arrogance on my friend???? The fact that Tech got its butt whipped by an inferior UGA team last year? Or the fact that you lost your best players to graduation? Or the fact that you got 95-year-old Al Groh to be your DC? Or the fact that you have an infinitely harder schedule this year? Or the fact that you got your butts handed to you in the bowl game last year by a very inferior and one-deminsional Iowa team? PLEASE tell me what you’re basing your chest-puffing on.

JEFF – You really need to get a grip on reality. Ugag has done nothing in men’s sports this year. That is a fact. Won’t you at least admit to that? Anyone can clearly see it.
1. Football: No division champ (not even close). Shreveport.
2. Basketball: No NCAA tourney – not even close.
3. Baseball: No CWS. Not even close.
In fact, if the ONLY thing you have to hang your hat on is a win in ONE game of football with us and/or in ONE game of baseketball, well that is just plain sad!

JEFF -
I gotta also include this – since you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about college football. Iowa was a great team. They lead the Big 10, undefeated, throughout most of the season until their starting QB got injured. Only then did they lose a couple of games which knocked them out of the Rose Bowl and into the Orange Bowl. However, that starting QB returned for the bowl. That Iowa team was actually in the run for national champtionship game with that starting QB healthy.
Learn a little something first, and THEN post. We would appreciate you doing it in that order.

in 2008 on a Thursday night, our football team in our coaches first year was beating the hell out of a nationally ranked team, Miami, while the space shuttle was flying over the stadium just moments earlier with 2 GT alumni aka NASA astronauts aboard. “The Institute” has plenty to be proud of that they can excel in both academics and athletics. If sports is all you got at inbredville, then good luck and God help CMR if he loses a couple this season.

to Jeff and others on this blog: Miami has always had outstanding talent, that will never change, in spite of it GT has managed to find a way to win in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. As for the comment about where are GT’s new signees? I admit I am not that crazy about the new recruiting coordinator only because I do not believe in hiring someone that was fired somewhere else as McCollum was at Mid Tn St. It never seems to be the missing link to a football team. I do not see Brad Scott helping Clemson out nor Chuck Amato back at FSU. What did they accomplish? Nothing
I do however take offense at the ugags calling Groh names when you had Larry Munson 80 years old and Loran Smith who also has to be pushing 75 but thinks this is only 5 years past the national title in 1980. You are all living in the past.
