You tell them mean old Dawg fans JacketAndCoke!! I’ve been reading the blog today and apparently there are some fun things to do with GT12, Reality and GT15 this weekend. Would love a fourth!! It really doesn’t matter that we got our asses handed to us in the BCS football competition, at least we made it and that is all that counts!! Go Jackets! Buzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Never, ever again will there be as much talent disparity between between Tech and Georgia as there was last season. That was by FAR the worst UGA team under Richt in his 9 seasons and look how your superbowl (the UGA/Tech game) turned out last year.

And by the way, all of us UGA fans are NOT bashing your team or putting down your school… some of us are simply trying to have reasonable arguments based on facts. Using terms like UGay, leg humpers, pups, hairy dawg lovers, etc. are just insults and you sound like 3rd graders… I would expect better from “supposedly sophisticated” Tech fans.
Come, let’s reason together, and let’s leave the name calling out of this. Based on the FACTS, it is my opinion that Tech may have a hard time getting back to 11 wins and a BCS bowl this year with a tougher schedule and a LOT of roster questions, plus a less-than-stellar defensive coordinator. Didn’t Tech fans question the SAME THINGS about Georgia a year ago? That’s all I’m trying to say….

let’s review.
in the 2009 offseason, uga FINALLY fires martinez a few years too late and then FINALLY lands the third or 4th choice of DC (that no one else wanted after underperforming in the pros). how about them dawgs, indeed.
in the same offseason, GT goes ahead and fires wommack even though his defense was better than uga’s gt: 24.8 points surrendered per game vs. uga: 25.9 points given up per game http://www.cfbstats.com/2009/team/index.html ) and then lands groh as the first choice for DC (who turned down an offer from bill parcells to coach the defense of the miami dolphins after a track record of success in the pros).
is that about right? and people think that GEORGIA TECH should be worried, lol.
i just wish i could bet a significant amount of money against the delusions of many uga fans. that bet would be a surefire winner every year.

To wesleywhatwhat…. you are SERIOUSLY going to say Wommack’s defense at Tech was BETTER than Georgia’s, based on ONE POINT PER GAME in the final stats? I hope you’re kidding.
Georgia’s defense was bad in spurts (Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee), but it also had some solid moments. I remember beating a highly-ranked ACC team on the road in November before winning a bowl game against one of the top five offenses in the country.
I don’t think we can make any judgements about either team’s DC just yet… all we can do is go on track record. Grantham has had a very successful NFL career in recent years… Groh struggled mightily at Virginia, against the same competition he’ll be facing at Tech.
I am simply saying that Tech fans are WAY overconfident if they think Groh is the magic pill that will fix all the Jackets’ problems.

What “new sheriff” are you talking about? Groh? CPJ? Please enlighten us…

The Acc could be a very improved conference this year, if so, bad news for GT. Tech simply doesn’t have the talent or depth to compete with the better teams on their schedule. Johnsons recruiting classes have been below average. Last year was a good year, but last year was the weakest ACC in years. The obsession with UGA is hilarious, talk smack when you can beat them on a consistent basis. Paul Johnson was out coached by Willie M. last year . To make it worse Georgia best player was injured.

I’ll just say to the tech fans, enjoy any successes the team may have before you get to the Big Dawg! No reason to believe it’ll be any different this year than last, and I suspect the beatdown will be a little more dominent this year given the changes made on the defensive side of the ball.

I never said that we’d go undefeated. I think that was reality. Out of UNC, VT, and Miami, I think there’s a great chance we’ll lose 1-2.
JB
When I mean uncomfortably close, I think of GT vs. Jacksonville State last year. We were never in danger of losing that game at all, but the lack of production of the offense in the second half, and the bad defense definitely had a lot of jackets worried. Those worries proved to be fairly well founded after the Clemson game. It wasn’t until we got our a**es handed to us by Miami that the team decided to start showing up (sometimes that’s what it takes, I guess).

GT12… I stand corrected, sorry about that. For the record, you make much more logical arguments than that Reality dude, anyway.
Out of the 3 teams you mentioned, I think you’re currently better than UNC and about equal with Va. Tech… I think you’ll lose 1, and if you get a bad break or two, maybe lose 2. And don’t sleep on that road trip to Kansas… they have some talent out there. Plus, playing at Clemson and at Georgia and at Miami is pretty tough in one year.
I don’t know why your team sleepwalked through some games last year and showed up for others… would’ve thought that Jack St. was a wakeup early on. I know me and a lot of other UGA fans were surprised at how Miami dominated you.
I think there are a lot of question marks for Tech that won’t be settled until 3 or 4 games into the season.

Gonna be hilarious when the bulldawgs realize that Washuan isn’t nearly as good as they think. Is it just coincidence that he started putting up huge numbers at the tail end of the season when you played the worst statistical defenses of the season as well? If you looked at Barnhardt’s fact vs fiction, I think something like 60% of the voters thought Washuan would lead the SEC in rushing… let’s just forget Mr. Heisman winner and his backup why don’t we…

GT – So who said anything about winning a Heisman trophy? For hat matter, we ran it down your boys throats without any passing threat. You do recall that AJ Green was out?
Some facts, we ran very well on the last 5 teams we played, most of which was w/o the aforementioned AJ Green. Folks knew what we were gonna do and knew we ahd no passing game and still couldn’t stop it.
ALL of those folks are back and we should have a better QB.
Like I said, is your teams throat still aching??? That ball has just got to be lodged down in there, some where.

Wesleywhatwhat,
Where was it ever confirmed that Groh had an offer to coach for the Dolphins? It’s my understanding he was interviewed and nothing more.
Tell me again what is so great about a 65 year old DC who just got fired from freaking UVA. As head coach and DC last year, his D at UVA was 52nd in the country and only marginally better than Tech, which was 54th. Something tells me this defense is NOT going to be better with the loss of two of the most talented defensive players in Tech history.
Next season is gonna be a rude awakening for the nerds and their busty coach. Tech wins 8 games AT MOST and could very well finish 6-6, which may not even be worthy of Shreveport with the ACC’s bowl tie ins.

What’s wrong RDR?
Do I really mean that Washuan really isn’t the best running back in the SEC?
Ealey rushing yards/game:
LSU 33
Tennessee 18 (1.8 yds/attempt lol)
Vanderbilt 71
Florida 70 (I’ll admit, this was either a solid game, or a statistical outlier)
Tennessee Tech 89
Auburn 98
Kentucky 77
GT 183
Texas A&M 78
So wait a minute. Besides Florida, all of his highest rushing totals were against some of the worst defenses in the SEC and the country (GT and A&M)..
But if you go over to the dawg forums, everybody says Washaun is gonna win the Heisman this year!!! I mean, he’s better than Ingram!
Or maybe he does well against bad defenses, and mediocre against medium to good ones . . .
Uh oh…

Cut the crap JB. You had no passing threat after the Kentucky game. Cox became a turnover machine, and was basically transformed into a handoff machine to the running back. That’s all he did from that point on. Even if Green had been in the game, do you really think you woulda aired it out like you did the previous week? The coaches had ZERO faith in Cox after the Kentucky game.

Even against the poorer defenses (with the exception of GT), he wasn’t exactly a world changer. TN Tech 89? Texas A&M 78? Tennessee 18? This is the same Tennessee that VT, who NEVER has an offense, drubbed 37-14.
