A week away from Tech’s spring practice starting

Alright party people.

Basketball games played on the court are now done for Georgia Tech. As we  endeavor to report the other basketball games — what decisions Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors will make regarding their futures — let’s look to spring football, which will start on Monday.

As you may remember from the mailbag two weeks ago, http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-tech-sports/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=1529, I attempted to address your questions about the football team.

I did my best, but there’s only one person who knows everything that’s going on at Tech and I don’t think he’s going to blog for me.

So, here are the storylines I’m most interested in following:

1. Who will win the outside linebacker jobs?

2. Who  will win the nosetackle job?

3. Is Tevin Washington locked into the No. 2 quarterback  job, or will he be significantly pushed by David Sims and Jordan Luallen?

4. Who will the competition between Quentin Sims, Kevin Cone, Stephen Hill and Tyler Melton for the two wide receiver spots?

5. How steep will the learning curve be for the 3-4 defense?

I hope to write about these, as well as a whole bunch of other stuff, once practice begins on Monday. The T-Day game is April 24.

Georgia Tech isn’t getting a lot of love from the national media, mostly because of the loss Jonathan Dwyer, Derrick Morgan, Demaryius Thomas and Morgan Burnett, among others, to the pros.

Throw in the loss of Cord Howard and Brad Sellers, as well as Joe Gilbert, and the battle on the offensive line will be intriguing, as well.

I can say this: Johnson went 13-2 in his third season at Southern, and 10-2 in his third season at Navy. Of course, you don’t have to worry about juniors leaving for the NFL at either one of those schools. It should be pointed out that Navy won 10 games with a quarterback, Aaron Polanco, running the show for the first time.

So what are you most interested in following this spring? Any predictions?

Gee, having flown in air conditioned Hornets, I had no idea of how hot is here in Afghanistan. Now? I am just pumping fuel for all my old flyer buddies. I sure hope that my alma mater tech does not hear about my disgrace and demotion, as it would be humiliating to the institution.

I sure hope that it is not even mentioned on INTERNATIONAL TV News as that too would be horrible and so embarrassing to Georgia Tech.

That will be $3,589.00 Lt. Would you please sign this jet fuel voucher, SIR?? Um, ah, Sir, have a good flight.

Tech ……………..Home of The Right Stuff. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA,AHAHAHHAHAHAH

who has hurt this state more, Tech aviators or uga-lawyer legislators? the lack of decency by some folks’ lowest common denominators is beneath contempt-as for who respects our aviators more, GT’s only retired fb # honors a flyer who died in WWII-he went missing, we’ll never know if it was because of a mistake-

TECH students had to kick in an extra $10/QTR to build the Alexander basketball colliseum. Lawyers in the GA legislature used state funds to build an Ag colliseum that just happens to accomodate half again as many basketball spectators as TECH’s. Only a spineless Washington Democrat can be more a party to blatently stripping taxpayer funds and rights for their own political survival.

WR position could be a problem. S Hill looks like he will be really good but Melton and Cone won’t exactly give opponents a scare when they line up opposite him. Hope we have some others we have not seen much of yet who can really step up.
