Tech will tip at 2:20 Eastern Sunday

No. 10 seed Georgia Tech (23-12) will tip off Sunday against No. 2 seed Ohio State (28-7) at 2:20 p.m. eastern in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Yellow Jackets are trying to make their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2004 when they made their run to the national championship game.

Ohio State and Tech haven’t met in the NCAA tournament since 1991 when the Buckeyes beat Tech 65-61 in the second round in Dayton, OH.

Great Job tonite!!!!! I live in Michigan and I have to sit through Big 10 basketball for 5 loooooong months but I’ve seen enough Ohio State games and I can tell you they are not that much different than Ok State. They have a little more of an inside game but not much and Evan Turner is slightly better than Anderson. Good guards and well coached but no depth. We WILL win this game as long as the kids do not bite on Dieblers head fake or he will knock down 7 more 3’s. Evan Turner will get his but he’s gonna have to work for it and as far as the low post match up we will exploit that as long as the guards look down low first. Oh yeah, Gani still plays like a freshmen at times. I really hope he comes back because he will ride a bench in the league for quite a while. Oh yeah was that wink and kiss by Hewitt at the end of the game for Marc Bradley or all the Hewit haters out there?

Tech made the plays down the stretch and shot 96% from the free throw line (25 out of 26). As this tournament has already shown; every team is capable of winning their games. Congratulations Jackets! Go get those buckeyes!

Great Win Jackets! Keep up the momentum, Make your free throws, limit turnovers, and winning is just that much easier. It’s great to be a YELLOW JACKET!!!

Milwaukee is our good luck charm! Unbeaten in the tournament there (1992 and 2004).Anyone catch the article in deadspin about the “Miracle in Milwaukee”?

I am part of the get rid of CPH crew, but I will give credit where it is due today. This was the best most complete game I have seen Tech play in maybe 3 years. Low turn over numbers, good free throws and they did not give the game away. Great outing and well managed by Hewitt. Lets hope this continues.

AMG, it is refreshing to hear Hewitt haters give it up on a job well done. Most still don’t and act as if these kids just roll the ball out and play. The truth of the matter is the kids have to make the free throws, not coaches. Kids have to play smart, not coaches. They work on that stuff in practice, believe me. CPH didn’t just coach up the kids on free throws overnight! Also, a sure sign of coaching is having the #3 defense (FG %). I do wish that we had overall smarter players though. Great team win!

SAINT SIMONS, YOUR AN IDIOT! You played 5th best team in texas in your SH*TBOWL THAT NOBODY WATCHED! Don’t ever run your mouth about how great your fan base is, you had plenty of tickets left to sell because you guys were preseason #13 and where did you end at? NOT EVEN RANKED LOSER!! KENTUCKY BEAT YOU ON YOUR HOMEFIELD FOR FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS BORN!! Great season joke, you showed up for 1 game this season and played the game of your lives for a 6 point win against a team without it’s starting qb for almost an entire half! Congrats, your such worldbeaters.

Now only if they could graduate! Oh well, I suppose that would require them to be able to read & write.

As you arrogant snobs like to harp on: Our fine scholar athletes have to pass calculus. Reality Check- They don’t take it and they don’t graduate. LOL

What team was that last night? I only caught the second half, but between the free throws and lack of turnovers, I had to double check that I was watching Tech. How many turnovers did we have in the 2nd half anyway? That is the team I wanted to see all year!!! The team that played last night could beat anyone! Hopefully this same team shows up. GREAT JOB JACKETS!!!!

Out of the loop lately, HOW BOUT THE JACKETS !!!!!!!!!!!! Huge win over OK State….

jackhammer, whats up son ??

”As the Mutt Turns” gets better EVERYDAY. Now m. adams has shut down the drunk parties on Cow Town campus, eliminating early homesteading with tents, kegs and wide screen tv’s. Guess the drunk starts at home so look for a TON of DUI’S as mutts try to drive to the games. LOTS of check points and arrests.

Go Tech!!!!!

Great performance, hinting maybe of something good tomorrow.

Tell me, Mutt litterbugs, how’s that spring football practice working out? Are you fans working up on new littering techniques to evade your new tailgating rules? It just means that you’ll only have four hours with your styrofoam coolers and pizza boxes. Didn’t see any new rules saying you’d actually have to throw them away……LOL…..

Tech played so-so Fri. nite and won.
If they put it together and have a much better shooting game Sunday they have a good chance of advancing.

Paul's won't be in A-town so why do care? You are too much of a kitty cat Weak sister!

Since about 1966, Yech has gone thru football coaches every 4.5 years and CPJ is in his 3rd. He has made his mark at Tech with the Urange bowl loss ( like Dodd did too ) and he must build it to higher levels or he will be regressing. Me thinks the latter is about to happen. That middle school, triple break offense is so 1960s and 70s. It was junked by the good schools years before him.

ACC is caught on now and CPJ is on the downhill side of his tech career. 4.5 years and they ALL leave one way or other.

Go Dogs.

We’ve clearly entered bizarro world here! I saw on ESPN this morning that we had the second best free throw shooting night (96%) in the history of the NCAA tournament behind only Ohio State in 2007 who made one more free throw on one more attempt. Someone check their IDs. Maybe Hewitt has employed some trickeration of some type, and he’s really smarter than all of rest of us.

Ohio State appears to be a similar team to Ok St. We need to pound them with the inside game and D up on Turner. Remember that they barely got past Michigan in the first round of the Big 10 tournament. They needed a buzzer beater as I recall to survive that game.

RC- yesterday you were talking all big and bad about how Ok St was gonna hand it to Tech and today all you have are graduation comments? What’s it gonna be tomorrow, the players favorite places to eat? You’re lame.

Wow, graduation rates are popular when your team is not recognized nationally huh? Anything else non-sport you guys would like to talk about? You’re so good at it.

Continue to play tough D and keep the turnovers under 15. We already know they won’t shoot free throws like that ever again. Go Tech.

Yeah egg, it’s pretty sad when you have to be told when you can tailgate cause your fan base is a bunch of pathetic losers that can’t tailgate without being pigs. I mean really, how sorry do you have to be to litter? That’s just laziness at it’s best.

Six turnovers in the second half for the Jackets last night. And i believe the FT record was second to Texas in ‘07.

Pretty easy to have a high graduation rate when you’re giving diplomas away as as stated by Jan Kemp. It’s tough when you have a diploma that means something like Tech.

UGA, forget asking if we want fries with the meal.

GT fans, this team is just now peaking. Look for them to win the tourney this year and CPH goes down in history as the first Jamaican coach to win a NCAA TITLE. It will not be pretty, but as Al Davis would say! Just win baby, just win.

The dawg fans have taken time out from swimming with the turds to feel better about themselves once again by showing their lack of intellect on a GT blog. It makes them feel better to mingle with winners….especially when they have nothing else to cheer about this time of year.

It’s really sad when the only thing news worthy information coming out of the state’s flagship university is nothing but garbage and plenty of it at that. Obviously a lesson for the future uGag grads in sanitation pickup.

Now we know why our garbage is sometimes left in the road after it’s supposed to be picked up…..the morons can’t pick up after themselves on campus which obviously has carried over to their professional lives as garbage collectors during curb side pickup.

The 30-24 reference is a code the gaggers use for other prospective garbage collectors. It means after 30 years of working that they’ll have an earning potential of 24K/yr.

Fix my email account, $40k/year IT geek!

The gt faithful has used so called “tougher academics” as an excuse for the nerds poor performance. So why the big surprise it comes back to haunt them now?

Truth is if you take away the minorities (Asians & Indians) from Yeck’s student population the average GPA and SAT would be on par with the likes of West Georgia College. Get over your self!

Wow, you Techies are a wee bit sensitive about the whole
“(((((((((((((((((30-24)))))))))))))))) Hahahahahahahah” thing! Just wanted to give ole “St Simons” who camped out on the Georgia blogs last year a hard time. I really didn’t mean to ruin the day for all you guys.

Goodness, I guess if I brought up Georgia’s 15-4 domination of Yech since your CO-national championship year you might really get mad. Especially since three of those four “wins” were VACATED because you guys were cheating! My oh, my…you poor souls who get such an inferiority complex on a little ole blog.
