We’re live at Georgia-Georgia Tech baseball

First, would like to say it’s glad to see that Chance Veazey is in Georgia’s dugout here at Russ Chandler Stadium. For those who don’t know, he was paralyzed from the waist down in a scooter accident on campus in October.

Tech’s baseball team raised money to help with medical expenses at a football game this season.

Second, it’s a beautiful night at  the ballyard.

We’ve got two teams having much different seasons. The Yellow Jackets are 13-1 this season, while the Bulldogs are 8-8. Georgia’s projected infield has yet to start a game together. Subsequently, the starting pitching hasn’t been as strong.

The Yellow Jackets haven’t had many issues. The starting pitching has been strong and some questions marks coming into the season on offense are tagging the ball.

Now, onto the lineups.

For Georgia

12 CF Zach Cone .381

2 LF Johnathan Taylor .333

16 RF Peter Verdin .299

43 1B Robert Shipman .458

25 3B Colby May .222

10 DH Zach Taylor .250

5 2B Todd Hankins .291

3 SS Levi Hyams .167

And pitching for the Dawgs will be lefty Blake Dieterich, who is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA

Georgia Tech

9 2B Jacob Esch .392

21 1B Tony Plagman .382

3 C Cole Leonida .449

16 3B Matt Skole

32 SS Derek Dietrich .294

20 RF Chase Burnette .429

22 LF Jay Dantzler .293

10 DH Thomas Nichols .464

And pitching for the Yellow Jackes is righty Mark Pope, who 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA.

The Jackets are 13-1 and the Bulldogs are 8-8.

Would be curious to get oyur take on this question. Football is considered No. 1 at most schools, with men’s basketball No. 2. Where does baseball fall? Is it No. 3? Or has women’s basketball surpassed it?

Once again a below average UGa team looks to salvage it’s season by defeating a superior Georgia Tech team. It’s sad that the only thing they have left is bragging rights.

That’s a good point. The teams will meet two more times but if UGA wins it means it will have beaten Tech in football, men’s basketball and in at least one baseball game.

Your record is only superior because you play in the All Cupcake Conference.

Beating Tech in football is an annual fall ritual. Now that we have moved to the 3-4 and Tech has lost all of Gaileys recruits It might be another 9 years before tech wins again.

The Dawg fans are now one and done fans. It’s no longer about the body of work. Sorry Athens, your were not in a BCS bowl game, your not in the NCAA tourney and when the b ball season ends your team will amount to nothing. Back in the day the only thing that counted to a Tech fan was beating UGA. We have bigger and more important things to accomplish than messing with a bunch of rednecks in Athens. Woof, Woof and enjoy Shreveport and the NIT. Oops you didn’t make the NIT!

“Your record is only superior because you play in the All Cupcake Conference.”

Apparently Shane is clueless as to any sports other than football. It goes without saying that the ACC is heads and shoulders better than the sec in basketball (twice the NCAA bids = twice as good?). The difference between final fours over the last 40 years is laughable, and if you take away Kentucky its even worse.

In baseball, the ACC and SEC are generally at the top in terms of conferences. This year, the ACC has four teams in the top 10 while the SEC has 2. ACC has 6 teams in the top 15 to the SEC’s 2.

The only thing “cupcake” here is Shane’s brain.
