Georgia Tech’s Derrick Favors was named the ACC’s rookie of the week in men’s basketball for the fourth time this season.
Favors, an Atlanta native, averaged 17 points and 13.5 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets in a win against North Carolina and loss at Maryland. In the loss to the Terrapins, Favors scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds.
It’s the third time in five weeks that Favors has earned the ACC honor.

Derrick “officials-ain’t-doing-him-any” Favors
LOL Is there anything more cliche in sports than Tech fans blaming the refs?
If so I havent heard it.

When did the ACC go professional? Shouldn’t it read “Freshman” of the week or am I just taking the definition of the word “rookie” too literally?

You’re just really straining to make fun of the ACC here. You shouldn’t have to be ultra-pedantic to do so. Although, you raise an interesting point. Rookie refers to being new to a job, and jobs tend to be paying positions. Which leads to the old argument: should college athletes be paid? I say yes. The ACC seems to be tacitly acknowledging that their athletes are performing a job and not just competing in amateur sports.

Favors is a beast. If he stays out of foul trouble then he is pretty much guaranteed at least a double double. Good luck in the NBA next year Derrick.

Haha Shanee is such a funny little pizza delivery boy!!! When did you get the internet in your grandma’s basement?? Haha its going to be soo fun for all the clark county trade school fans to watch all the ACC teams playing in the tourney this year. SEC SUCKS!!!! I guess we have the refs to blame for Derrick’s fourth rookie of the week award in PART of this year. There will be more to come!! And please get back to work. My pizza is late.

Shane, I don’t know? Seems like your little mutts have been complaining about officiating ever since the pups little dance in the endzone of the UF game a couple of football seasons ago…….hmmmmm? Kind of ‘cliche’ don’t you think? Glad I could help.

Anybody bother to look at the top 25 lately?? Three teams from the SEC and one from the ACC. Neither burning it up, but the ACC used to dominate basketball. Not anymore.
Pay attention recruits.

Shane- go back to cuddling with your cousins and watching 80’s ga football- either that or try to get a job- it will cure the boredom and your obvious insecurities

Favors is an absolute Beast. I was at the maryland game and it looked like Favors was playing basketball against little kids. The guy was unstoppable. Half of his 18 rebounds were offensive. Favors seems to be getting more and more comfortable in the paint and the game is slowing down for him. I’m expecting big things from him down the stretch.
