Favors ACC rookie of the week

Georgia Tech’s Derrick Favors was named ACC rookie of the week after putting up a pair of double-doubles against Clemson and Florida State.

Favors led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points and added 14 rebounds in a 66-64 win over Clemson on Tuesday. He came back with 10 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s 68-66 loss at Florida State.

Favors has won the ACC rookie of the week award twice this season. He is the fourth-leading rebounder in the ACC with 8.9 rebounds per game, trailing Gani Lawal with 9.2.

After splitting two ACC games this week, Georgia Tech (14-5, 3-3 in ACC) fell three spots to No. 22 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

perhaps it’s no surprise that Ish Smith of Wake got ACC player of the week, given his game against UNC (20 points, 6 assists, 7 rebounds)….See other blog for more about ACC guard play, if you will. I was posting that one just as news came of Favors’ award

GT?? Is that a real schoo?

We even beat gt in Women’s hoops!!!!

Don’t forget about football!! Remember?? 10 point favorites, at Bobby Dodd Stadium, on National TV. gt’s best team in many years and UGA’s worst in 15.

UGA 30 – gt 24!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!! gt athletics will always be inferior to UGA athletics!!!!

Do kids even practice free throws anymore? That’s one thing that could be said for the newly proposed all white american basketball league…I’ll bet the players could hit some free throws. That game yesterday was horrendous…both teams shot like 0.500 from the line.

Carroll, you’re doing a great job. Could you do me a huge favor (no pun intended)?

Would you ask Coach Blewitt why he pull Brian Oliver out after he made 3 straight 3 pointers in about a 5 minute time span after he single handily got us in the game?

We know Phewitt doesn’t believe in fundamentals like free throws and inbound plays, but this is common sense. Feed the hot hand until they stop him.

Congrats to Favors. I still think he would greatly benefit in the long run from another year in college though.

Please, God, tell me that someone actually attended that Klan meeting in disguise AKA the “all white” basketball league. What a joke.
