I’m a Dawg fan who was a big fan of CPJ at Navy and still respected the guy as a great coach and person even at Tech…..UNTIL NOW. After hearing him on a radio show with Donnan STILL implying that UGA played dirty trying to twist Nesbitt’s knee or whatever, I’ve lost all respect for the guy. Gees man….get over it. MR would never be whining over a bunch of crap like that. When we get beat, he swallows it and takes it like a man. You lost the freakin game! Don’t make excuses. No offense, Losing Respect, but its probably because he lost respect for a coach and team that tries to take an opponent out of the game… You guys won… I concede that, and its not because of that. We had a chance to beat you in the end, and we didn’t. Still doesn’t mean that hurting Nesbitt didn’t put some fire on the already hateful rivalry.

I don’t know if UGAg tried to hurt Nesbitt or not, but it does remind me of the Joe Hamilton years and the way FSU roughed him up. Football is a tough sport no doubt, but the way FSU hit him late REPEATEDLY in those games made me question the class of a certain Coach Bowden that so many seem to be in love with (especially now that he’s retiring). Did CMR tell his guys to take out Nesbitt? Did Urbane Meyer tell Spikes to gouge an eye? Probably not, but you can’t always control what a player does in the heat of the moment either.

I don’t recall them(AJC) doing that for the last year when all the Tech fans were on the UGA blog saying a three point win was a blow out, and now the tables had turned.But there was No block there.
Well this is a what I am thankful for:
1) I am thankful for a non censured forum to blog my comments( oh wait Doug got rid of that so it is no longer true)
2) I am thankful that the football world in Georgia is back in balance again.Georgia’s worse team in a decade, beat Tech’s best team in decade.
3) I am thankful that we fired our DC and are looking for a new one ( I would suggest tech do the same)
4) I am thankful for the year of crowing I get to do at my tech buddies expense….yes I still call them friends even if they went to the north avenue trade school.And they laugh and call me leg humper and we still get along, except that one weekend of the year.
5)Thankful that I am working as a VP of Business Development( put that in so some Tech fan would not say “oh he works at Burger King”) when many are not employed and struggling.I hope and pray that this economy improves and we can put this country back to work.
6) And I am thankful for college football. SEC,ACC,Sunbelt….Div II. frankly it is all good.

I am thankful that I was able to get a degree at one of the greatest engineering institutions that the world has to offer. Without it, I would not have been able to move to one of the most beautiful places in the country (Alaska) and feel like I am on vacation every time I look outside.
If I can ask for one thing on Christmas, it would be for GT to put up some large numbers against Iowa in the Orange Bowl. They’re fans have been really nice so far, but I think that it would be icing on the cake of a great season to win 12 games.

I always thought that UGA fans supported all their teams. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the Gwinnett Arena Saturday night and saw a sea of orange and blue there. It’s pretty sad when the OPPOSING fans at what is supposed to be your home game can drown out your band and fans cheering.
Even sadder – your coach goes on the video screen and BEGS fans to buy tickets to the Tech game on January 5th. Obviously there won’t be as many Tech fans there – we have a BCS bowl game to watch. Maybe Mark Fox can get CMR and the football team there – they won’t be busy after the 28th of December.
Since CPJ arrived, we don’t need the 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 cokes deal – maybe Mark Fox and the UGA basketball team can use it now.

I have it from a rock solid source who has no ties to UGA or GT:
UGA coaches (and he did not specify which) were telling the UGA defensive players to go for Nesbitt’s ankle when they had him down on the ground.
I would be surprised if Mark Richt was aware of these shenanigans.
And you saw what happened.
Like I said, he had no ties to UGA or GT, and saw the coaches telling the players. He was there, on the UGA sideline for the game.
Doggies, if you want to cheer for an irrelevant, convict breeding (see Quincy Carter, Odell Thurman, etc.) football program, go ahead. I will take my top ranked Crimson Tide, Coach Saban, and my Heisman winning RB.
It is what it is – a fact. It’s not what lost GT the game. UGA wanted it more and played harder that night.
UGA is not the first or last football program to pull a loser shenanigans like this, but it is a fact, and shows that even the UGA coaches acknowledged GT is the superior program & knew they had to step outside the lines and cheat.
UGA football – irrelevant.

Hey Charlotte Dawg – Georgia has a 7 – 5 record, 4 – 4 and third in the SEC East (behind Tennessee), going to the Independence Bowl, unranked in any poll. Georgia Tech has an 11 – 2 record, ACC Champions, going to the Orange Bowl, and ranked 9th in the BCS. Which team had the better year?
I would say that the “Dawgs” are more obsessed with Georgia Tech than Georgia Tech is obsessed with Georgia. Apparently, beating Tech has defined Georgia’s season. I admit that it would have been nice to beat Georgia this year, but it really was not that important of a game for Tech. Tech still won the ACC Championship, is ranked 9th in the BCS and is playing in the Orange Bowl. However, Georgia is unranked, is going to the Independence Bowl and is generally irrelevant on the national scene.

All I want for Christmas is for all of the Redneck, Sidewalk, Uneducated UGA fans (Reality,Losing Respect,Merry Christmas? Naaaaaa!, CHARLOTTE DAWG) to thoroughlyenjoy the digs in Shreveport. The double wide trailers in Louisiana are just as nice as the one you live in now and if the weather is warm you may even get to wear the wife beater t-shirts you are so fond of. Who does Roberson think he is with his censorship, Joseph Goebells? Is it now politically incorrect to remind crybaby Georgia Tech fans that the Georgia Bulldogs whipped their butts on “historic” Grant Field inside Bobby Dodd Stadium?
Last year, the less than professional AJC sportwriters didn’t feel the need to censor out the score when Tech fans posted it over and over on here for 12 months.

Agreed Charlotte Dawg. They are the worst fans of any team on Georgia’s schedule. Florida and Tennessee fans are undoubtedly arrogant, but their teams can back it up. Moreover, SECOND fans in general know football and you can have reasonable discussions with them. Tech fans no absolutely dick about the game of football. Half the time you find yourself educating them about their own program. I guarantee you that 70% of current Tech “fans” couldn’t tell you who William Bell or Coleman Rudolph is without the assistance of Google. That’s the God’s honest truth. Tech fans are arrogance and ignorance combined. Its an unbearable combination.
Here is the biggest problem with Tech fans in a nutshell: They want so desperately for everyone to respect their school and athletic teams. There isn’t a group of fans more desperate for respect and recognition than Tech fans. But at the same time, they don’t want to deal with the heightened level of scrutiny that comes with being a high profile athletic program. They just want everyone to blow sunshine up their butt and tell them how great they are. The second something happens to suggest that they aren’t so great they go and run behind academics or some other lame excuse. They’ve been like this for the 20 years or so that I have been following sports in this state. They want credit for everything but take responsibility for nothing. Like I said, I think they are an embarassment to all of us that call Georgia home.

I have two degrees from the University of Georgia and am an avid football fan and donor. Been to most home and away games since 1997, so I put my money where my mouth is. Just because I am an avid fan does not mean I cannot make honest statements about our team performance.
As I said above, I hope we find a QB and a defense next year. Do you disagree?? Am I glad we beat Tech? Absolutely. But under no circumstances is 7-5 a good year for us, no matter who we have beaten.
Further, simply because I do not derive some sort of enjoyment and self validation by making idiotic comments on an anonymous blog does not make me less of a UGA fan. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fans like you out there.
Also, the reference was made on page 1 about the balance of power being back to normal (from a UGA fan), I did not make that one up.

The latest indication is the wince-inducing report in the Athens Banner-Herald that not only does UGA still have about 5,000 unsold tickets to the Independence Bowl, but some of the nearly 6,900 that have been sold so far have gone to Texas A&M fans. The paper reports that after the Aggies sold out their allotment of 12,000 tickets, the school’s athletics Web site encouraged A&M fans to buy tickets at Georgiadogs.com. “Let’s MAROON out the Georgia allotment,” is how they put it.

While I am not a big Crimson Tide fan, Tide Alum has it right – all the UGA posters were not here 2-3 years ago when Tech program was mediocre.
Now that Tech has the 10-2 team, the Conference Championship Team, the Orange Bowl team, the spot UGA 18 points in Athens and then ran over them like doormat team. The UGA posters live here.
Think about it: The one thing that these UGA folks have to cling to is that they beat Tech this year. Their football team is 7-5, with just one big time win, GT.
I want these UGA folks to stay. They beat the superior Football program and that is ALL they have to cheer about.
Paul Johnson is the best thing to happen to GT since Bobby Dodd and the real UGA folks are crapping their britches about it. UGA fans post here because they realize that they are about to become an automatic win for Tech much like they are for Florida.

It is truly shocking that UGA with majors like animal health, printmaking, dance, and film studies has a wider recruiting base. One thing Tech fans know- education first, athletics second. No need to live vicariously through our student athletes- simply applaud and appreciate their efforts. It is fun to watch the small minded UGA fans whose day is made on “that big ol’ lineman” we just signed. If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny.

Amen brotha!!!! The ACC is a disgrace to real college football fans all across the country. The fact that they even have an automatic bowl bid, after years of proving they are nowhere near capable of competing with other BCS conferences, is laughable.
I suggest, in the season’s spirit of giving, all the ACC football programs should voluntarily disband and give their equipment to the needy, ie; local high school football teams.

Actually, the 3 conferences with the highest bowl game winning percentage (a great way to measure success against other conferences) are::
(1) PAC 10 at 53.6%
(2) SEC at 53.0%
(3) ACC at 52.4%.

I know this is about football, but to the indvidual who questioned Tech’s academic credentials, look at the facts. Tech’s entering Freshman class had a 1345 SAT average score last year, more than 100 points higher than Uga’s entering class. Five of Tech’s engineering programs are ranked in the top 5 by US News. From personal experience, my son got admitted during early admissions at Uga this month, and he was deferred at Tech until spring. Don’t tell me that it is harder to get into Uga. Uga had 20,000 applications this fall and is hard to get in due to shear numbers. It is a good school, not in the elite class like Duke, Vandy, Wake, UNC, UVA and Tech. Oh, and we have a pretty good football team too!

Like previous posters stated, bringing race into a football arguement is morally wrong. Stick to the facts. The facts are that UGA beat Tech and Tech is going to a BCS bowl. UGA is headed to a third tier bowl in Louisiana. UGA has plenty of talent, but had a mediocre year. Tech has much less talent and played above their heads for the past two years uner Johnson. I’m sure Tech would like to have a better record, just like most Georgia fans wish they had the success that florida and alabama have had ove the past 15 years. What is Most Incongruous about GA tek fans posting again about Florida are their posts about Paul Johnson as a name on the list to replace Urban Meyer at Florida.
Paul Johnson played 6 games against teams not even in a bowl game, and YET LOST MORE GAMES than Florida did playing only 4 teams who aren’t in a bowl game.
I mean how good is Paul Johnson, anyway ?
He recruits very poorly.
His offense has zero tight ends and at most 1 receiver on the whole entire roster.
A QB who in 35 games has only 13 TD passes to 11 interceptions and is the Number 115 Passing Offense in the NCAA this season, yet this is what they went to when they scrapped their high school offense and threw 4 plays in a row to lose to a 7-5 team playing in Shreveport, NE LA at a high school stadium (larger than Tech’s Grant Field Bobby Dodd Stadium.)
There are only 3 football players in all of America who have committed to come play on this high school offense of Paul Johnson.

He fired Jon Tenuta to hire the linebackers’ coach at So Miss to come be his Defensive Coordinator.
With 6 games against teams not even in a bowl game, Paul Johnson’s “defense” is Number 57 against the Run, 54 Total Defense and 58 Scoring Defense.
And, his recruits are IDIOTS, not suited for the purpose for which they are intended as “student” – athletes.
Florida lost 1 game against # 1 Alabama. GA tek with Paul Johnson lost to UGA for God’s sake who LOST TO 5 OTHER TEAMS including Kentucky AND lost to Miami of Florida who otherwise beat no one, like UGA.

n the past three seasons, as the SEC has won three consecutive national titles, the conference has also proven dominant in bowl games — SEC teams are a college best 19-7. The next most wins among big six conference opponents is 12, a number shared by the Pac-10, Big 12, and the Big East. The used-to-be big Ten (now not worthy of having the B capitalized) is 6-16. Putting that into context, that’s four less wins than the ACC, which is 10-16 in bowl games the past three seasons.

What’s more remarkable about that SEC record? In all three seasons the SEC teams have been playing up in terms of where they are slotted for bowl games because the BCS has selected two members of the conference each year. That means that the erstwhile second best team in the league has always been the third best, and on down the line. The Big Ten has dealt with the issue each of the last three years to disastrous consequences. As if that weren’t enough, other big conferences slot their top non-BCS teams against SEC teams in lower-tier bowl games. I’m looking at you Chik-fil-A Bowl when you draw the SEC’s fifth or sixth best representative to take on the ACC’s top at-large pick.

The reason Clemson and Tech got ripped in the media isn’t because they lost to SEC teams (that’s a given) it was because they lost to mediocre SEC teams. Clemson, who finished second in the ACC, barely got by the ninth place SEC team. It’s just pathetic how weak the ACC is.

It’s easy to pick out the Tech fans that are coming into town.
They are all men, no women. Most are middle aged, fat, pasty and smelly with thinning hair combed over the tops of their crusty heads. They are wearing outdated bermuda shorts, dark, dress socks and sandals. They have on festive gold, short sleeve shirts emblazoned with that moronic, little bee and whatever greasy crap they had for breakfast. The rest are late teens, early 20’s, same attire but with acne infested faces and green teeth.They walk around babbling and giggling incoherently, gawking at the women and trying to get them to pose for pictures. The majority are Middle Easterners and Asians.
The old, fat ones keep hitting on me and giving me their room numbers.

Well the weedeater bowl game lived up to it’s expectations as the absolute worst bowl game that I have seen in my entire life. All 3000 UGA fans were gone by the third quarter which was expected. Texas A&M could not even compete for the Class A high school championship in the state of Georgia. The couldn’t punt, couldn’t kick, couldn’t cover kicks and dropped passes all night long. They are the most pathetic team I have ever seen. UGA really should be proud that they beat this bunch of middle school kids.

As usual Stinger you are upset cause UGA wins and wins and even though we had the worst team we have had in 13 years we beat Tech, won 8 games and our 5th bowl game in a row… Couple other statistics:
1. 30 to 24
2. 8 of the last 9
3. 60/39/5
4. UGA has the 5th most bowl appearences in NCAA history at 45- Tech is not in the top 15
5. UGA has won at least 8 games each year for 13 years.. no other team in the country has done that
6. UGA has 6 top ten finishes in the past decade… Tech has none
7. UGA has 5 bowl wins in a row.Tech has 4 losses in a row soon to be 5.
8. Tech’s stadium is about the size of the independence bowl stadium.. you can’t even fill it with your best team in 20 years.

I really hate Miami, so they’re loss was a great thing to watch. As far as the way that it makes the ACC look, well, a 1-3 record so far speaks for itself. I, personally, don’t really pull for other ACC teams, all that I care about is Georgia Tech winning. If all of the ACC teams lose and Tech wins against Iowa, I would be just as happy as if GT won, as well as, all the other ACC teams.
I don’t really understand the mindset of SEC fans to root for other SEC teams that they hate. Its really weird for uga fans to say that they want Florida to lose all of they’re games, but the come bowl season, they want Florida to win. Doesn’t make any sense at all.
