I figured I’d share some of the stories that the fine journalists in Iowa are producing about the Hawkeyes as they prepare to face your Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 5.
It appears QB Ricky Stanzi’s ankle is good to go: http://bit.ly/5PhRYk
Like Georgia Tech, Iowa has a few players who have to decide if they want to leave school for the NFL: http://bit.ly/6JBqVT
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz wants his team to focus on Miami: http://bit.ly/6iCUTg

I was a huge UGA fan and I have to say Shane and BuLLdawg make me ashamed of my school our fans and what we represent. No class. We played dirty during the tech game and that is a reflection on coaching and the thugs we have in Ahtens. Why would you try to hurt a another player, after we whined and carried on about Fl. Spikes poking one of our players. I was embarrassed for our program the game was nationally too, the whole country saw it!! We were not a good team this yr and we have been reduced to bragging about beating a very very good tech team, that is on the upside. What do we UGA fans have to look forward too??? No DC wants to come to Athen, we thought we would have the pick of the litter. What does that really say about our program?? I say we are not living in reality and think our program is better then it really is. I am no longer a UGA fan! I am switching to Tech. Ga jackets, Paul Johnson and whoever or whatever tradition I am supposed to cheer for!

It really is a shame that is comes down to this. I agree with “to all the bloggers” Let’s just get over it people. ugag won the game. Tech lost. ugag had an off year, but they still have talent. Tech had an exceptional year and is being rewarded.
I agree.. the SEC is generally a better football conference. But by the logic above, even the worst of the SEC are better than the ACC… even though Tech won 2 SEC games this year.. AWAY. Sure, MSU and Vandy aren’t powerhouse schools, and I’m not bragging about it by any means, but they were wins. This blog will probably go on forever, but the tacky insults are just petty.

did uga sell all theirs?
Every BCS bowl they ever played in they did juvenal. I understand you don’t have the comprehension or logical deduction skills to get the point. Tech fans embarrassed themselves in Jacksonville in what was there biggest game at that in 40 years. This year they embarrassed themselves with poor attendance in Tampa, and now they want to bray on a blog as opposed to buying out their ticket allotment for THE biggest game in almost 50 years. UGA goes to the SEC title game it sells out. Uga goes to a BCS bowl they sell it out. And if you want to compare apples to apples, how many tickets did Tech sell to all those blue rug bowls and nut bowls that are your usual holiday destination?
Tell us juvenal…if you can.

See ya bobbie brownie! Enjoy your annual beatdown at the hands of your former team. You will fit right in on the GT bandwagon. But when you jump off with all the other fair weather Tech fans after your season next year, don’t come back. Georgia State will be needing a few fans.

TexasJacket I get the man’s point. An undefeated or 1 loss champion of the SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, or Big 10, will get the nod over any undefeated or 1 loss ACC champion not named FSU, VT, or Clemson. At least those fans will travel to a NC game or BCS bowl. GT has shot themselves in the foot every single time they have had the opportunity to back up their bluster with meat in the seats. Pragmatic people know that if GT even gets sniffing close to a NC game that the BCS will find a way to keep them out simply because they won’t travel. BCS bowls and NC games are supposed to be economic windfalls for the host city and GT just can’t stand and deliver. It’s just unbelievable that a team that aspires to so much gets zero support from a very loud fanbase when it comes to filing a stadium. It’s really sad and I feel sorry for GT’s players. They deserve better support than just a bunch of loudmouth no shows.

The nadlickers that show up on a GT blog don’t have anything intelligent to say on their own blog so they come here in order to verify their own pitiful existence. They claim that GT is insignificant, yet they do a good job of disproving that theory themselves by coming on a GT blog. They talk about GT attendance and stadium size when their own stadium tends to clear out early. They thump their chests about all the Top 5 recruiting classes they always have, yet they don’t have anything to show for it besides police blotter reports in the Athens Banner Herald. It’s easy to cheer for a “football factory” as evidenced by all the nadlicker fans that we, as Tech fans, have to overlook day in and day out that continue to post on GT blogs. The inferiority complex that the nadlickers exhibit is only compounded by the success of a rag tag Trade school on North Avenue with a little bitty stadium.
Lastly, when you google “douche bag”, you hit the jack pot for descriptions and pictures of the ugag faithful.
Have a great day douche bags!

Question – why are you on this blog? Isn’t your bowl game in 11days? Don’t you have more to worry about than GT and it’s fan base and whether it travels to bowl games? This blog is concerning Iowa and GT and the Orange Bowl. Where does UGA fit into the conversation?
Although your vacuous banter does not deserve a response from a GT Alum (and I doubt if the rest of the UGA clowns on this blog are actual UGA ALUMNI) but I feel compelled to address this ignorance that you and the other UGA apologist spew. I personally attended the ACC CG and will attend the Orange Bowl (attended the Peach Bowl last year too), but the fact of the matter is that UGA’s 12th man (AKA Chan Gailey) did 7 years worth of damage to our historic program that CPJ is in the process of repairing. In 4 or 5 more years of CPJ’s success, there will not be one bowl game that GT won’t sell out. I gurantee you that if Richt puts out another 3 or 4 more years of 7-5, 8-4 seasons, UGA fans will not travel as well as they have in the recent past.

How can 30-24 hurt you guys so badly. It happens 9 times out of every 10 years. Aren’t you used to it by now? In the immortal words of a GT fan I spoke with after this years game, “same ole same ole”. You know your place in this state so why all the bile and vitriol this year?
And while you’re at it, why do documented facts pizz you off so bad. I.E. record vs UGA and ticket sales. Wouldn’t it be easier for you guys to just buy tickets? I realize you can’t do anything about beating UGA but you could do something about the tickets. One less thing for UGA fans to shove up your rears. But maybe it’s easier to sound like idiots on a blog than it is to be part of the solution. Just saying.

I’m just stating fact. Not angry. But your panties are obviously in a wad. Look…I can’t help it you guys can’t beat UGA with your best team in 30 years. I can’t help it if you guys can’t sell out a ticket allotment. All you have to do is beat UGA and buy some tickets and then you won’t have it hanging over your head anymore. That’s all you have to do. Is that so hard?

Hey guys, different topic, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed: during the ACC champ. game, it looked to me like we ran a couple of passes to A-backs straight out of the triple option set (meaning, it could just has easily have been a pitch). I really enjoyed seeing that because usually teams are keyed into the pass as soon as we snap the ball and Nesbitt drops back 3 steps. Whereas here the A-back cuts across the middle of the field as the QB holds the ball more like he is going to run it. Anybody else see that? Or did I just see a play and interpret it incorrectly?

No. You make YOURSELF look like an idiot talking smack about being a major player in the college football universe but then can’t even back it up by supporting your team with your fat butts in a seat at big games. Big time isn’t just talking smack and winning a few games. That’s what you nats don’t seem to grasp. Of course this winning thing is totally new to you so maybe you should get a 20 year grace period to figure that out.

james, no, you saw it right. so if he holds the ball like he is going to run, and the a back goes up the middle, and throws it to him, it is almost just like a dive, but he dont get tackled and go through the line without the ball and all of a sudden he gets the ball on a short pass and off he goes.

You saw it James. Navy does that. I just wonder why we didn’t see it before. I suspect from watching Nesbitt that PJ is afraid to have him throwing into the middle as unpredictable and wild high as his arm is. Miss in the middle and the ball gets picked a high percentage of the time. As good a TO QB as Josh is, he is a very bad passer and the risk of him throwing middle routes is just too much for PJ to allow.

And why does it take you guys that long to buy a ticket. You guys said the same thing 2 years before your first ACC title game with Chan and you’re still trying to fly that one? No coach is going to deal with that kind of fan support for long. Much less Paul Johnson. And actually I think he’s already thrown out a caustic comment or 2 regarding your poor OB ticket sales.
