Anderson’s surgery went well

Ben Anderson’s surgery went well on Tuesday, but Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said he’s not sure if the defensive tackle will be back for spring ball in April.

Anderson, a defensive tackle who started 12 games this season, sustained a knee injury against Georgia that forced him to miss most of the game, as well as the ACC championship.

Anderson, a redshirt junior, has 15 tackles and two sacks this season.

Given that the D-Line has been an issue this year, having Ben out hurt us in the UGAG game. Don’t forget, Ben was ACC Week 11 Lineman of the Week:

Wishing Ben a speedy recovery and successful rehabilitation period. He will not be ready for spring ball, but hopefully will be in time for next season. The kid plays hard with a lot of heart, and he is very tough.

Go to http://isportsweb.com for more Georgia Tech football articles as they get ready for the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Orange Bowl. Go Jackets!

Ben,

Glad the surgery went well.

Work hard on your rehab. It takes a long time to properly rehab a knee but you will come back and be ready in the fall.

Hell, my dear ole mom would have helped against UGA.

I never saw such a sorry defense in all my life.

Just goes to show you that playing 6 teams not even in a bowl game, NCAA Official Strength of Schedule Number 51 for Georgia Tech this entire season, doesn’t tell you diddle-e-squat about your team who beat 1 ranked team all year long and SAGARIN BCS Poll ranks Virginia Tech AHEAD of Georgia Tech.

Bud Peterson, Zone 5 with Atlanta cut-backs, and you only have 71 patrol officers ? You need MORE.

Wishing Ben a complete recovery. Next year, we are going to have to depend on J.C. Lanier and a lot more on T.J. Barnes (who has been inconsistent). An what are we going to do if Morgan goes pro? Hmmm. We also need three stud linebackers.

I for one was never excited about the Johnson hire and it’s proving to be a disaster. Once he loses more of Gailey’s players after the Orange Bowl we’re going to be horrible next year. Even if all that could leave decided to stay, with our schedule next year it was going to be difficult, but now if they leave we’ll be lucky to win 5 games.

You’d think Johnson would learn his lesson about his dirty practice of chop blocking, but until he ends this barbaric and cowardice practice, karma will continue not to be on his side. I look for more Yech players to have knee injuries in the future

House –

Unfortunately you are correct. It’s hard to have sympathy for a program that runs an offense that can’t function without chop blocking. The NCAA should really review Johnson’s dangerous practice of intending to damage his opponents knees. It’s very shameful

Boy – You UGA fans sure show some class. A blog about a guys injury and you guys just can’t hold back… At least it took you until the 10th post to raise your leg. Before you go barking about payback for three of four obnoxious GT fans on your site all year, look in the mirror, you are doing the same thing and no better than they are. I don’t have any respect for any fan who goes on to the other’s site to talk trash for the sole purpose of trolling.

For you guys complaining about blocking technique, you may want to brush up on the rules as well as watch some of your own games. UGA has been called for “chop blocking” in quite recent history. That is just pathetic.

Who knows what would have happened if AJ Green played? UGA did not need to throw a pass to beat us. I am guessing the result would not have been any different given the way our defense played and the missed time by Nesbitt. That really hurt. Not only did we miss any positive play from him (remember, GT never punted), but Shaw threw an interception which led to a UGA score. Add three (minimum) to GT and subtract seven from UGA and …. Doesn’t matter now, but you can’t say you manhandled GT on both sides of the ball.

The game hurt, but sure glad it did not hurt that much in the rankings or determine where we get to go for our Bowl game. Come to think of it, it really didn’t have an effect on UGA either, no ranking and same Shreveport.

Get well Ben and remember these comments next year. Hope you get to travel with the team and show your support from the sidelines.

stan – Nobody at Tech coaches the players to chop block. Doing so would encourage drive-ending, 15 yard penalties. It would be no different than a secondary coach encouraging his players to commit pass interference on every pass play. Even a moron like you should be able to understand that. The players are coached to employ a cut blocking scheme which is perfectly legal and used by many teams in the college ranks. Anytime cut blocking is employed, a team runs the risk of two players becoming inadvertently engaged with the same opposing player. When that happens, it’s a chop block and it should be (and IS) called by the officials.

Real classy post from Dumbass rednecks. I know you classless fans may find this task hard to master, but you may want to learn how to have some class for an injured player from Tech’s baseball team. They raised money for the badly injured UGA baseball player. Yes that’s a Tech team raising money for a UGA player. Now that’s classy!

hello, tech people. i’m a Dawg alum on here for the first time. congrats on a really good season. hope we’re both undefeated when we meet next year, man, wouldn’t that be awesome…also, a really big congratulation to the seniors who graduated this past week..i actually hope y’all win in Miami, seeing as i have you doing so in my pool i’m in…BUT, yes, a very big but(with one T, not two), last i saw, you’ve only sold apprx 9 thousand tickets to the game…that is not good,, it’s actually sad, very sad.. also heard, CPJ is not very happy with those numbers..now i know that y’all can afford it, with all that money you make..what, that 57K/yr thing.. and i understand that you don’t have the alum/fan base numbers of some schools, but 9 thousand?? really, y’all can do better.. Good luck, make our state proud…
