It’s time for the record watch, put together by the AJC’s Matthew Dempsey.
Your ACC-champion, Orange Bowl-bound Yellow Jackets had some impressive players statistically. With the big bowl game against Iowa still to come, let’s see where everyone stands.

With an average rushing day for Nesbitt against Iowa, he should move into the top five for rushes in a season.

10. William Bell 2026 1989-93
11. Josh Nesbitt 2023 2007-
Dwyer will probably not reach P.J. Daniels spot in the top five for career rushing yards. Though a huge day against a tough Iowa defense could do it.
Nesbitt should easily move into the top 10 by the end of the first offensive series for Tech.
Most rushing touchdowns, season

7. Lenny Snow 12 1966
Nesbitt is one end zone trip away from tying Lavette’s record for rushing touchdowns in a season. My prediction is he’ll finish the game owning the record all to himself.
Dwyer surpassed his rushing touchdown total from last year and if he gets one more he’ll be in the top three by himself.

Dwyer is set for the year on moving up the career rushing touchdown list.
Three more touchdowns for Nesbitt would move him to four on the list.

9. Calvin Johnson 888 2005

Hey “GT Fan”….That’s “toilet” bowl we’re going to pal….lol. For the record I would have been a little happier with the Chick/Peach bowl, but oh well….Anyway, I’ve been rippin you guys pretty hard on here, but it’s only because we put up with it for a whole year from the goof balls (Saint Simons and m and a few others). Seriously, Good luck against the Hawkeyes, I think your offense will face a real challenge. Their D is alot better than ours at the moment. With a month to prepare it could be tough. Conversely, I think it’s our D that will be tested by A&M’s offense. You’re game will probably end up 12-10…our’s, 56-49.

All I’m saying is, is it that important to you to be like those few moronic fans just so you can have something to say to “get back at them”? Have a little integrity and substance in your posts and it will go much further. I for one did not agree with what Johnson said, however, he is still the coach of the team I love and I like what he has brought to Tech. A winning attitude that has been lost for many years. Good luck in your bowl game. I can’t say I will be rooting for Ga but I will be watching. I love college football. I will watch every bowl game possible.

Actually, here’s a take from a fan of both teams. Yeah, we do exist. I think UGA fans are venting alot of frustration after spending a whole year listening to Tech fans crow about last season’s win. Tech fans are still in shock that they actually lost to UGA, with UGA being down. It looked like this was the perfect opportunity to get a new streak going and shift the balance of power. My feeling is, Tech will be competitive with Johnson at the wheel, but the guy needs to keep his mouth shut. The “punch them in the nose…” comment was just childish. Just be a good sportsman about it and move on…you got beat. My feelin is that UGA will improve their defense and if their new QB Murray is the real deal, they’ll be hard to beat again for a while. They certainly got alot of young talent. Tech has some talent too, but if Dwyer and Morgan and Burnett all leave, next season may not yield another win over the Dawgs, but we could still win the ACC with Nesbitt. Miami and FSU will be the toughest teams to beat…JMHO.

I thought the “punch them in the face” comment was hilarious. What’s even more hilarious though is that the mutts took it so seriously. Considering all the malicious comments posted by mutts on these blogs, Johnson’s was pretty tame. But I for one like it that a coach isn’t afraid to jump into the fray an say things that po his opponents’ fans. The mutts all hated O’Leary for telling it like it was; before all is said and done they will hate CPJ even more. The loss this year was unexpected and definitely a bitter pill to swallow, but at least we’re still 11-2, 9th in the country, ACC champs, and going to the Orange Bowl. And to those who think that the OB will be a worthless bowl, tell that to the 50K fans from Iowa who will be coming to Miami to escape the snow and cheer on their team. I’m sure they will outnumber us Tech fans there, but I don’t really care; it’s a chance for Tech to make a national showing and prove once again that CPJ’s offense is a force to be reckoned with. Nobody else has really stopped it the past 2 years. Tech self-destructed early against LSU and Miami, and UGAG contained the interior game (but that was all they contained). Tech’s problem, and it IS a BIG ONE, is the lack of consistent defensive play. That was why the mutts won, and why so many other games were close. It may take a couple more years before the defensive play matches the offensive play, but I have no doubts that it WILL COME. And when that happens, losing players early or not, TECH WILL ROLL. Go Jackets

Sorry, DamnGoodMutt, but if we use your train of logic (???) then Kentucky or Florida would be the winner of the ACC, but UK’s going to Nashville, which is a tad bit better than even Shreveport (at least there’s something to do in Nashville), and UF is going to New Orleans. The fact is, however, that Tech is the winner of the ACC and heading for sunny Miami whether you like it or not (and you obviously don’t like it, or you wouldn’t be posting here).

I find it funny how the Muttlanders are shouting to the heavens about winning at Bobby Dodd. I was under the impression that 2009’s Clean Old-Fashioned Hate didn’t mean anything to the Buttlickers…until they won. I also find it funny that now, COFH means the entire season to u[sic]ga. I guess the Muttlanders are finding out the truth now…that they are no where near the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Southern Cal and that they’re actually on the level of the South Carolinas and Arizonas and Rutgers’ and Clemons’ of the college football world. Don’t get whiplash during that reality check, Puppy fans.

“supersize”…What worries me most about Iowa is their defense. The UGA poster is right, Iowa’s D is better than UGA’s. They are the top D in the big-10. Norm Parker is a great D coordinator and with a month to plan, we might have problems running on them. I don’t think their offensive line is as big and strong as UGA’s, so maybe our D can do a better job of containing their RBs. Against UGA we had…well…NO containment. They get their QB back from injury and they were undefeated with him playing. If we can’t get some pressure, we might have a long night. But Ferentz made a good point…he said they “don’t have a way of simulating their (GTs) offense”. So we may still have an edge.

I have learned to hate and despise UGA on this blog. I will find a way to inflict damage on that worthless school.

these kids have done a great job-hopefully it is because of the system, and they have certainly refuted the idea that this scheme can’t showcase talent to the next level…how are the frosh that redshirted doing?

UGA/GT Fan, I am hoping that Iowa (even with a strong defense) is typical of Big Ten schools—-big and slow. Although a former Tech roomie of mine who now lives in Iowa tells me that is not the case; he says they are pretty fast. Regardless, I don’t think there is anyone in the country with a better eye for what’s going on on the field than CPJ, and I look for him to spot their weakness(es) and call the plays that capitalize on that weakness; that in turn SHOULD open up the rest of the schemes.

There are two significant changes that have happened since Ivery and Lavette played at Tech: the season is 12 games instead of 11, and bowl stats count. Add the extra game for the conference championship and the per season records aren’t really comparable.

susan,
Dawg fans aren’t talking about winning at Boddy Dodd, as usual, they’re excited that they won on Historic Mark Richt Field at Bobby Dodd and are looking forward to when the tool village puts his statue up like they should

30-24!
8 out of 9!
Georgia Bulldogs prove that a 7-5 SEC team is jut better than a 11-2 ACC team!
Obviously, the ACC is no better than the Mountain West Conference.
