Congrats to CPJ. Gotta believe Kelly, Patterson or Golden get it though.

One things for sure, CPJ HAS to beat Dabo out.

only 5 of these coaches should be on the finalist list this year:

johnson, mack brown, nick saban, patterson, and brian kelly.

And the consolation prize for getting jobbed out of NC contention goes to……Kelly or Patterson….flip a coin…doesn’t really matter.

Well deserved CPJ. Back to back ACC coach of the year awards as well. I think this award will probably go to Kelly though.

Hey Angus…how did Kelly or Patterson get “jobbed” out of NC contention. If schools like TCU, Boise State, Cincy want to be taken seriously then they should play some real competition during the season. At most, all of these had only one, two opponents max who could be called a “test”. Other teams had 5 or 6 tough games. A good example is TCU…their “big win” was against a 5 loss Clemson team. If schools like this want to play for a championship they are free to toughen up the schedule; then they won’t get “jobbed”.

If Johnson does actually win it, which I don’t think that he will, we will never hear the end of it from the backwords logic uga fans. They will say that they are ACC champs and Richt is the COY because he beat us. They are so full of sh**.

Boise St has been very open about their desire to play bigger schools during the regular season. Im not sure about TCU. The problem is that nobody will play them. You arent going to convince schools like Florida to schedule TCU or Boise when they can just as easily schedule a much easier team and avoid a potential loss.

spectator…….IMO, any BCS team that goes undefeated, but doesn’t play for the NC is jobbed by the BCS.

By your standards, did Auburn in ‘04 deserve a shot?

My original comment was meant more as an indictment of the BCS than a comment on COY.

Saban has a good chance to win. I believe if Tech would have beat UGA this year than Johnson would win outright. It is what it is.

Well, in the short term TCU or Boise could go barn storming and play anyone who’s willing, but it seems the easier way is just to join a better conference. I like the idea of the MWC expanding, grabbing Boise, and the champion gets an at-large BCS bid. They could then do no worse as a conference than the Big East (whom both schools perennially claim to be better than).

My vote goes to Paul Johnson, but he might be a long shot in this one.

The Georgia Tech Police Department released a report yesterday that a house in the Home Park neighborhood was subjected to a forceful home invasion. The house was on Ethel Street near Hemphill Avenue. The invasion took place at approximately 11:55 p.m. when six people were in the house.

Three men who were described as black males wearing ski masks and bearing firearms kicked in the door to the apartment. The men made the six victims lie face-down on the ground while they searched the home for electronics, grabbing cash, cell phones and a laptop.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution at least four of the victims are Tech students. No-one was hurt during the incident, and the three men were last seen fleeing the apartment in a white, four-door compact car.

Paul Johnson deserves the award but probably will not win it this year given that the experts dislike his triple option offense and always will consider it a gimmick. So they will give it to some other coach who runs a plain vanilla offense.

How do you flee an apartment in a car, please ?

Drive it through the front door, since it was knocked down during the robbery ?

Congrats to Goferit! If he wins it, he deserves it. Comes from Navy with a “high school offense” and within two seasons, wins the ACC and goes to the Orange Bowl. Who else can top that? Anyone can bounce from hot-shot program to hot-shot program, but Goferit has shown steady progression, despite the Eric Zeiers and Heather Dinichs of the world who attempt to low-rate that which makes them look like fools in the end.

Good for Coach Johnson.

Understand the Georgia coaches are not able to do a lot of recruiting these days.

Seems they are spending all of their time bailing players out of jail.

Here Martinez is going to rat them all out.

BuLLdawg, the difference in THIS article as opposed to the ones written up about the mutts this year is that the Tech students were ‘victims’…..THEY didn’t go to jail…..the sad thing about your post is that you probably got all excited, thinking that you were gonna bust our chops about it. The funny thing is that you just verify what most on here think about you….you’re a sad, pathetic person!

One thing we know for sure is that no SEC team will schedule a game with TCU or Boise St. Last I checked neither one plays in the CUSA or Sun Belt.

The funny thing about BuLLdawg is that he is absolutely obsessed with everything and anything Tech, whereas in the past (especially before the last Tech/UGA game) his position was that this was not a big game for Georgia. But when they won, things were oh so different. You would think that with that attitude he would be spending his time spewing his hatred towards Florida, but, oops, Florida owns UGA the same way BuLLdawg likes to say that UGA owns Tech. I guess he can show a grain of intelligence by avoiding the painful (UF).

I don’t think an overrated coach that has been schooled in consecutive years by a 5 loss SEC team would seriously win this award. As well he didn’t.

funny, coming from a fan of a conference that had teams, THIS SEASON, playing such mighty powers as:

Middle Tenn. St.
Coastal Carolina
Northeastern
Kent St.
J-Ville State (a Tech favorite)
Elon
Murray St.
Gardner-Webb (another Tech favorite)
James Madison
Marshall
Florida A&M
Citadel (yet another Tech favorite)
Ga. Southern
Richmond
William & Mary (seriously????)
Southern Miss

So yeah…..you know what they say about glass houses…..douche

“He’s been exposed two years in a row by a 5 loss SEC team.”

CPJ has a winning record of 4-2 and score totals of 208-179 against SEC teams including a win last year against the pitiful Georgia Bull_hitdogs. I would agree that losing to a lousy 5 loss SEC team like Georgia was not one of his better days, but Georgia fans don’t have much to crow about with their train wreck of a season this year, do they? Since CPJ’s record is 1-1 against UGAg the Dawgs claims of total dominance are just laughable also.

The Grinch –

I love being the messenger of bad news, but in reality St. Johnson is 1-2 against bowl eligible SEC teams, and managed to lose both games in humiliating fashion. It’s sad, but typical, that Yech fans would be forced to hang their hats on beating up on the two celler dweller programs :)
