Burnett undecided about his future

Safety Morgan Burnett said on Thursday that he hasn’t decided if he will leave Georgia Tech  early for the NFL.

A junior from College Park, Burnett has 77 tackles and four interceptions this season. Last season, he tied for the national lead with seven interceptions. It was the most by a Tech player since 1991.

Burnett said he will sit down with his family after the Orange Bowl on Jan. 5 and then they will decide what to do. He’s rated as the second-best safety by Mel Kiper, a draft analyst.

Grinch,

I’m not sure how exactly admitting that UGA spoiled your near perfect season is somehow a slap to UGA fans? This was Richt’s worst team since he’s been at UGA, without his best player, and yet he still schooled St. Johnson, aka Your Savior, in your pitiful excuse of a stadium. So again, how is UGA coming out the loser here? Their miserable season was already wrapped up when the clock hit 00:00 agianst UK.

Fellow Jacket fans trying to spin the UGA loss are only making us look more pathetic than usual. Of course that loss ruined our season. What, are we supposed to hang our hat on winning the ACC with half the teams at .500 or worse? Grow up and get real

If this kid is smart he’ll bolt now. Tech is going to be absolutely pathetic next year. Dwyer, Morgan and BeBe (regardless what he says now) are gone, Burnett more than likely will be as well. He got burned too many times this year but yet has managed to remain high on the draft boards for DB’s. He doesn’t have 9 lives.

did you hear?

Georgia’s worse team this decade still beat Yech’s best team this decade.
And Caleb King scores again on the yech defense.

The Hell with Tech.

No wonder Johnson made CrackerJack rings last year. Those rings were more impressive than any All Cupcakes Conference ring could ever be

Listening to Tech fans the past couple of weeks has been interesting. Sounds like that armor and magic had amongst the base has gone bye-bye in a hurry

At least Tech fans will feel right at home in Northern Miami when they get mugged, duck all the drive-bys and witness stabbings on the street.

I’m one of the few that thought the Johnson hire was a bad move and would backfire in the long run. I also was one of the few to realize his quick success would be bad news for the program since the administration would be premature and extend his contract. This offense will not work in the long run. Why on earth do you think it became extinct in the first place? As evident in the UGA game, if you’re down late in the game (especially with no timeouts) this offense is a death sentence since it’s designed to milk the clock. If we can’t even beat the worst UGA team in recent memory without their best player, while at home, it doesn’t spell for good times in the future.

Exposure for Tech players going in the first round???? Those leaving are all Gailey’s recruits! Johnson will never get this level of talented players! Johnson will only get players who have no interest in being Pros!

UNRANKED 7-5 team beat Georgia Tech at your house 30-24 when your coach gave up on his high school offense (fired Jon Tenuta and no Tech defense since) and had his “QB” (12 TD 11 interceptions in 24 games as “QB) throw 4 incompletions to end the game.

You played 6 teams not even in a bowl game.

SAGARIN ranks Virginia Tech AHEAD of Georgia Tech in SAGARIN BCS POLL.

Virginia Tech is the ONLY RANKED TEAM Tech beat all season long, and they are ranked AHEAD of Georgia Tech in the ONE POLL you recognize, SAGARIN BCS POLL.

Your APR is worse than UGA in football.

NCAA SoS # 51.

LOST 24-30.

Any player that is projected 2nd round or better should go. The potential of problems in the next draft of a change in the owner/player money offers is enough to push guys that could go in early rounds to the NFL.The money isnt chicken feed even for 3rd rounders.

I know a lot of you don’t think Burnett had a great year but I totally disagree that he was a disappointment. Last year he had a great group of linemen and linebackers in front of him which allowed him to play more aggresive on the pass. This past year he had to be a more complete safety covering the run and pass, not an easy thing to do. If you look back at our games he seems to always be the guy making the saving tackle on the big plays. He’s always around the ball and that is a skill highly prized on Sunday. I hope he stays but wouldn’t fault any of these guys for leaving, they all have bright futures in the NFL.

I think BeBe and Nesbitt would be hardest to replace.
Morgan highest pick, but Tech has 3 youg player waiting at DE who are pretty good, likely that at less one will be big time player:
Cross, Cummings, Dieke,

Plus TJ Barnes will be a beast in the middle next year.

Dwyer gone can be replaced with:
Orin Smith, Richard Watson, or Daiel Drummond

BeBe Thomas – Hill not at his level, Actually I think the year Thomas had this year he will be better pro then C. Johnson. Thomas is big, can catch, is fast. He blew by UGA DB’s when they had angle on that screen pass for TD. If he played for Texas, FLA or USC, ND he would have won best receiver in the nation.

Morgan Burnett, as a long time Tech fan, I wish you the best next year as a Yellow Jacket or a pro. Make the best decision for yourself, but don’t overlook the fact that we all would love to have you stay one more year.
