Burnett undecided about his future

Safety Morgan Burnett said on Thursday that he hasn’t decided if he will leave Georgia Tech  early for the NFL.

A junior from College Park, Burnett has 77 tackles and four interceptions this season. Last season, he tied for the national lead with seven interceptions. It was the most by a Tech player since 1991.

Burnett said he will sit down with his family after the Orange Bowl on Jan. 5 and then they will decide what to do. He’s rated as the second-best safety by Mel Kiper, a draft analyst.

Is it posssible to have a blog without digressing to childish rock throwing between UGA/GT fans. Probably not. Back to the topic at hand: I hate to see anybody leave, but I think Morgan is definitely gone to the NFL. The others in question will probably see where they are projected in the draft. Given the uncertainty in the economy/future, anyone would be wise to take the money and run,…. run, run, run to the nearest investor and stock up in gold bullion before the dollar goes kaboom.

If any of the juniors have a chance of going pro, they should take it. Football players have a limited shelf life and they need to take advantage while they can. I personally think these players need to put their futures first before what we as fans want, but it would be great if most of them came back for their senior season. I think Morgan is gone, Dwyer is gone, and Thomas is up in the air. Morgan Burnett can play at the next level, but I don’t know if this is his time. I know some think Burnett’s season was a disappointment, but the dude is a play-maker and was probably more a victim of defensive scheme rather than his lack of performance…just my 2 cents.

Bulldawg as much as it hurts me to say, you prove ONE point, very well….. We are a team that was a Defense away from being a MNC team…… If, it had not been for the Defense, I think that CPJ would have been standing there last night as COACH of the year….. I have said all year that we are not or shouldn’t have been rated in the top 10, but YOU or I do not make these decisions. The fact that GT will play a team that matches up very well with us and gives us the chance to be preseason ranked in the top 5 or 10 is just the nature of the system……That’s of course if we beat Iowa, they are a very good team, we could very easily lose if we don’t bring our “A” game. My hope is that we can fill the defensive void with some better athletes. I am sure that Coach Wommack is perfectly capable of coaching, as long as he has the right personnel. We have NOT had the right personnel for a long time, hopefully this coaching staff can change that…. The bottom line Bulldawg, yes you beat us head to head, but WE were the better team, and we will continue to get better. UGA’s domination is OVER! Get over it!

Wow Tech. That’s a pretty impressive bowl record over the last few years. You and your live in partners have a great time in Miami. Don’t forget to go to the game. I know it will be more fun hanging out around the Versace mansion, the gay nude beaches and playing Dungeons and Dragons back at the motel. And don’t forget to yell “Go Dawgs” when your cheerleaders run on the field.

I have no reason to head over to the Dawg blogs. That would be kind of stupid. Using third grade mentality, “Well, since he is making a fool of himself on our blogs, I’ll go make a fool of myself on their’s”. All I know is what happens on the GT blogs. Ther seems to be a lot of Orange Envy.

“GT4ever”….I can’t believe you actually said that Dwyer is “5 times the back” than Toby Gerhart is?!?! If you believe that, you’ve never seen Gerhart play dude. He has better stats than Mark Ingram with no where near the supporting cast. He is a freight train! I swear, I seen him drag 5 defenders 15 yards! Dwyer is good, but he’s no better than Gerhart or Ingram or that kid from Pitt.

He’ll leave, just like the rest of them. Tech is going to be even worse on defense (if you can believe that) next year. They will be back where they belong, near the bottom of the conference.

They're all gone...and so is GT

December 11th, 2009

Straight to the abyss…Morgan, Burnett, Dwyer all history. PJ will be gone too in a couple of years if he knows what’s good for him. Meanwhile, UGA returns almost everyone from their team, and with a new DC, face it…the writing is on the wall. It’s over…GT will never beat UGA again in our lifetime.

Dwyer isn’t even worthy of smelling Gerhart’s jockstrap. Toby’s a man, Dwyer is a hasbeen cry baby that can’t run up the middle to save his life. What a typical Yech b*tch!!!!!

How freakin’ delusional are you? Tech will NEVER be a preseason top 10, let alone top 5, team. Especially since Johnson is going to lose every single one of his key players (minus Nesbitt) after the Orange Bowl.

Face the facts chump, this is the best it’ll EVER get for you tools. Shame Johnson peaked so early, cause I would have enjoyed watching Richt humiliate him for the next 10 years. Johnson will be let go in 2012. Book it

O…M…G!!!!! I have seen Toby play…. He is obviously a very gifted player, by no means am I suggesting that Toby is not GOOD. I firmly believe that any athlete on this level is blessed with talent. I still stand by the fact that JD is the better player and will prove it on the next level… JD’s supporting cast is arguably on par with what Toby has, but I will take the speed and muscle that JD has over Toby, anytime. Two running backs, one is very good,(Toby), and ONE is GREAT! IMHO..

Funny that Yech fans are desperately trying to convince themselves UGA’s domination is over, when the reality couldn’t be any more clear.

Richt just pantsed Yech in their house, with his worst UGA team ever, without his best player, against Yech’s best team that they’ve had since they leached onto Colorado’s National Title.

Fact is, the domination is just beginning, and the Tool Nation knows it!!!

The mild cry for Johnson’s termination will get much louder if he loses to a slow, white Iowa team who’s QB has missed most of the season. This is getting interesting…..

Beating an Iowa team that lost to Northwestern won’t put Tech anywhere near the top 5. Especially once all your thugs opt out for the NFL, you douche

Dwyer not even the best in GA!!!!!

December 11th, 2009
9:50 am

Gotta chime in on this one….Dwyer rushed for a whopping 32 yards against UGA. Caleb King, by the way, ran for 160+ against Yech. Washaun Ealey has over 600 yards with a 5+ ypc as a true freshman, only started about 3 games and ran for 188 against Wrech. He’ll be an AA by the end of next season. Dywer ain’t even the best RB in the state of Georgia. And as for Gerhart, the other guy is right, dude’s a locomotive. One guy can’t bring him down.

It’s funny to me, as an observer of sports, that Georgia fans are criticizing Tech’s defense. We listened to the game against Tennessee on the way to Tallahassee, and the three of us in the car were dumbstruck (not that it takes much) how easily the Vols were scoring on the Bulldogs. Twice, we actually thought we were hearing a replay of a previous score.

I think Dwyer and Morgan are gone. Burnett probably and Thomas ify at best. Remember we are getting hit like the tech hoops guys a couple years ago. they are capping rookies next year so if you have a shot you will go just for the money.

UGA fans can STFU. They suck and will get beat at home again next year.

Anyone who says Burnett disappointed does not know football very well. He had to worry about stuffing running holes and did not have to last year. And these guys who are ragging on last years linemen in the NFL you fricking suck. Johnson has produced although he is thrid int he depth chart but got to play well in the game he was the backup. Darryl Richard with the Pats practice squad, well hes got an MBA and gets to play int he NFL, not bad for anyone. And I saw the other lineman show up on the falcons roster again and saw him stuff some runs. The Falcons should have signed Michael Johnson. Abraham sucks now and is irrelevent. Remember, all these guys were not even 3 stars and they made it to the big time. Sure you got some great UGA guys like Shockly who sucked down a paycheck and never even got a chance to win a game he sucked so bad.

Where the humor in the UGA fans lies is that they know even in their own feeble little minds that the nation gives them not one second of thought. Has anyone in the national media so much as mentioned Georgia reached a bowl game? They haven’t, And why, you ask? Because Georgia simply does not count for anything.

The NFL is a very tough place. Unless they are going to get a lot of garranteed money upon signing, they should stay for senior year. True they risk getting hurt, but they have a chance to get bigger and learn a little more; and most of all get playing time. If they go to the NFL and do not make the 2 deep, then their playing time will not be there.

Only 2 I see moving on are Morgan and Dwyer (both can improve more with pros, but limitted improvement in college). Thomas may go, but he drops too many passes…he should stay and improve and combo with Nesbitt set a bunch of records to improve his draft status. Nesbitt needs another year to improve his passing and determine where he will fit in the NFL…I see him as a backup to Vince Young. Burnett was not as impressive this year and should stick around one more year…very good player, but may be like Darryl Richard…drafted and put on practice squad.
