It’s a slow time of the year. Tech is in finals so there’s no practices this week. They will resume next week, so I’ll be back with the blog then.
In the meantime, I thought I’d open the floor to you. I’d like to know who you think the team’s offensive MVP, defensive MVP, biggest surprise were this season.
Surprise can be player, play, game, moment….anything.

Tech bolted the SEC because Bear Bryant was beating them senseless. Accept it, your program is the biggest pu$$y program in the nation. Disgraceful.

Strange that Tech is the only team in the nation that wants to disregard head to head series, and just focus on what was accomplished pre-Depression era.

For instance, Tech is requesting that Cooper Taylor be given a medical redshirt, and he played in 2 or 3 games. It has been dones many times in the past all over the country. Plus, as I said, a redshirt can be taken even after VERY MINIMAL play early in the season. Thus, if they want to (and I don’t know if they will) Tech can still request a redshirt for Washington.

If Mrs. Diaz’s 4th grade class in Flowery Branch declares Tech the national champion this year, will they add that to their total as well?

what does it matter in which portion of the season a kid plays? You do understand a medical redshirt and a normal redshirt are two totally different things, right??

Yes, I’m sure the Athletic Dept. at Yech would gladly call themselves national champs if a 4th grade class said it was so. They have no shame in case you haven’t noticed

Bear & Richt, it may surprise you to know that Tech’s all-time record against the Tide is 21-28-3, and against the Bear 2-7. So yes, the Bear allowed the Tide to move ahead in the series, but of the 8 games he played against Dodd, he never beat Tech senseless. The largest victory margin in that span was in 1964 at 16 points (the last year the two teams playe). Most of those games were decided by 1 to 3 point margins. It was Bear’s player (Darwin Holt) who beat senseless one of Tech’s players (Chick Granning), and THAT was the reason Dodd pulled Tech out of the SEC.

Dodd left the sec for the same reason most things have been for since about that time-money…greedy choices have bad outcomes, it was a mistake…we should at least had a better tennis team..we both have better historical records agaist UF, but living in the past is pointless..

In the 60’s, a win by more than a TD was considered a beatdown. Tech ran from the Bear. There’s really no way you can spin that reality

juvenal, money and recruiting WERE both part of Dodd’s decision, but it was the incident in 1961 that ultimately drove Dodd to do it. And you’re right, it was a mistake, a BIG one as it turned out.
And yes, dumb, 10+ point victories WERE considered sound beatings back then, but only TWO of the games between Dodd and the Bear were by more than 10 points. So Dodd was definitely not “running from the Bear.”

Another lie, it’s a little hard to go 2-9 against somebody when you only play 8 times. Didn’t Bear start at Bama in 1957? Well, the series ended in 1964, at least under Dodd, so that’s only 8 years. You must be community service major, since you can’t add.

another lie, I stand corrected. I thought we were talking about Bear vs Dodd, although as it turns out I was incorrect there too. Bear started in 1958, not 1957 as I said before. So Dodd only won one against him, but all but two were under 10 points. The later games (after Dodd) were all won by Bear, except for the LAST ONE (1981). It must have been hell for him losing to Tech the last time he played them

@Sidberry
I’m not insulting the program by saying Gailey’s tenure was bad. EVERYONE in or out of our program could see that. We as Tech fans should know it best. Is it the sign of a bad program to have people that know there were problems? Probably the opposite. Collectively UGA isn’t saying the best things about their late defensive staff are they? No, because it’s just fine to critique your own program.
On that note, keep in mind you’re trying to convince me that my team is somehow doing poorly or is not as good as your team. To do that you can’t tell me that I ought to consider the rivalry’s past games, especially under old coaches! If we’re talking here and now then, yes, we lost to the dawgs. How? Well most outsiders say it was a dropped pass, but we know it’s reasonable to say that we should not have been inthat situation in the first place. So, backing up we see that our backup quarterback threw a pick. Why were we in that situation? Well, Nesbitt got hurt. But, according to you, we were outcoached. If you speak of offense, then I’ll give you that. Bobo had our D’s number with the cutback run. If you are speaking of defense, then the only logical conclusion I can come to is that you mean that your players were coached to have Nesbitt be injured. But that was not in their control. Or was it? Guess it’s not important because BayBay dropped the pass. We’ll never know. The rules say you won the game. And you did. But do we have to agree that the dawgs were the better team on the field? Sorry, but that debate won’t end.
So under the current coaching staffs it is 1-1. An even rivalry all the same. No one gets to be anyone’s “daddy” until you get a win streak. That hasn’t happened since our old coach. Be smug, you’ve earned that much. But NOT about the bowls, and not about the history. Bark about your ONE win in the CURRENT series, and go play your little bowl game in the boonies.
And as always, TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!

once again, another lie, Bear did not have dominating wins over Tech prior to Tech’s leaving the conference. Wins, yes, but even by 1960s standards, hardly dominating ones. And it was his REFUSAL to even acknowledge that Darwin Holt had maliciously attacked Chick Granning AFTER a play was over that ultimately caused Dodd to end the series.

Sorry champ, but just because your program goes though coaches like Applebee’s goes through hostesses, doesn’t mean we have to change our series record every few years. Our coach owns your program 8 wins to 1 loss. Choke on that, chief.
