Couple of bits of information
It appears that special teams coordinator and A-backs coach Jeff Monken will help coach Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
Monken recently accepted the head coaching position at Georgia Southern. He and the university held a press conference yesterday. It appears he may be splitting some time between Statesboro. The story on Southern’s website said that he has begun his duties for the Eagles.

Item No. 2:
There’s going to be another Georgia Tech golfer on the PGA Tour: Cameron Tringale. He tied for 19th place at the tour Qualifying School with a 10-under par 422. He went 8-under in the event’s last two rounds.
He will join alumni Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Troy Matteson, Bryce Molder and Nicholas Thompson (123rd) on the Tour in 2010.

The SEC has Alabama which is the best team in the Nation. They also have Florida which is about the 10th best team in the nation. What does that have to do with UGAY? You act like the rest of the SEC is even slightly good. Besides those 2 teams the SEC has nothing and ALL the teams left in the SEC would finish in the bottom half of the ACC if they played in it.

Ross made that statement after winning a National Championship in 1990. He left to go to the Pros in 1992, NOT another college. He took the San Diego chargers to a super bowl. Not too bad. He later went and coached Army because it was a dream he had always had. As far as fan support goes, Tech is a huge underdog. We already knew that, but for what it’s worth, this quote supplied from Des Moines – why the Orange Bowl wanted the Hawkeyes:
“A reason Iowa was favored is the fact officials estimate more than 47,000 Hawkeye fans flocked to Miami for the 2003 Orange Bowl. “We anticipate that same number, maybe more,” Gautier said. “Georgia Tech, we think, is going to get their allotment … maybe even 25,000. We think the Hawkeye Nation will take up the difference.” Land Shark Stadium holds 74,000.”

Futile arguments here from both sides – and very juvenile. Going to a kindergarten play so I can speak to some kids that make a little more sense. Why not just try to actually talk about football instead of getting into a pis*ing contest every single day on both blogs. It’s sad. Tech had a great year- let us dawg fans realize that and be happy that we were able to beat them. We will hopefully rebound next year from this terrible season and be in the mix for a conference title of our own. I hate Tech as I always have but refuse to get into this childish banter back and forth. They deserve some credit for a good year and we should let it go at that and move on.

Great season Jackets and Staff! Good luck Monken at GSU! Now the offense looks great and saw some potential in the short passing game. Just think how good this offense can become if we hit 60% plus of our passes consistently. It’s 1999 all over again with Hamilton and Co. Now the defense is another story. It shows signs of promise but then bends and breaks. It appears to be the cut back running ability of the opposing teams. Maybe we need to shore up our LB run depth. We have some good ones but never enough. Maybe Luke Cox can switch over there since he is now 3rd team A-back and we’re loaded over there? Maybe we can recruit or get a couple of transfers who can provide run stopping depth. Just think how good this whole team would be if we make some imprivements on Defense.

Not Worth the Effort – BIG AMEN to your post- It’s not like any of us were actually on the field. I hate the Dawgs (and especially their fans) with every fiber of my being, but I do know that it is ONLY because of Tech’s offense that we are even in the top 25. Our defense is pathetic and special teams aren’t that great either. But I am proud of the teams efforts. I also don’t see any reason to troll an opponents blog (long after they’ve played) except for having a pathetic existence. Thank you for a classy post!

Iowa’s starting QB … 15 TDs 14 INTs. Not very impressive. And I recall lots of people questioning how high they climbed in the BCS by repeatedly beating teams in the BAMA-UT, Neb-Tex fashion. And one win the Hawkeyes had this year was by blocking TWO FGs in the final seconds to beat ………NORTHERN IOWA 17-16, a team that hadn’t beaten Iowa in 111 years!!
Their D looks good, but their O … not so good. I think GT can move the ball; should be tough for Iowa to simulate GT’s O with the same speed & precision it will be coming at them come 1/5/10.
To the GA fans that are joking about GT having 2 weeks to prepare & still losing to GA …. isn’t that how the scenario played out last year except GA had the extra week, and the weaker, underdog GT came on the road and won??? There is a reason why the games are played on the FIELD and not on paper.

Federal legislation that could lead to a college football playoff tournament will move a step closer to reality on Wednesday in a hearing before a subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection will consider a bill that would allow the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prohibit any bowl game from calling itself a “national championship” unless the game is “the final game of a single elimination post-season playoff system.” The subcommittee is expected to vote on the proposal on Wednesday after a line-by-line consideration of the bill.
