Johnson says no one from Notre Dame has called

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said no one from Notre Dame has tried to contact him or his lawyer during the past 24 hours.

“Not unless they got me out of watching film, because that’s what I’ve been doing,” Johnson said.

On 790AM this morning, former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said that Johnson would be the perfect fit for Notre Dame because he likes to run the ball and doesn’t really care what other people think. “He’s right on two things,” Johnson said.

Tuberville then said that the Tech job is better than the job at South Bend, Ind. [Johnson wasn't asked to comment about that statement]

As you may remember, Jeff Schultz asked Johnson about the possibility of coaching the Irish a few weeks ago, and Johnson pretty much dismissed the idea.

Charlie Weis was fired by Notre Dame on Monday.

It should be pointed out that Weis also didn’t care what others thought, and offense wasn’t the issue for Notre Dame. Defense was their biggest issue.

If people don’t even want to go to South Bend to visit the CF HOF, then why in the world would a man who left a nice job at Navy where he was worshiped and adored to move back to the beautiful and friendly southeast where COLLEGE football rules to go to that $h!+ hole of Indiana to be expected to win national titles with mid west high school talent. Who wants to deal with Regis and Lou Holtz anyway?

Better than ND? They play in the worst BCS conference in the nation, their campus is in the ghetto and their own students can’t go a week without getting mugged. I think Tubby is smoking it!!!

Old Gold,

People didn’t go see the CFHOF while it was in Cincy either. South Bend is a far more pleasant and SAFE location than Tech could ever dream of having.

Is Athens safe?

I’ve seen a fair share of crimes in Athens lately as well. Two family friends had their houses broken into in the past 2 weeks. Campus isn’t exactly safe at night either. Good idea to keep your eyes open no matter where you go to school.

“Defense was their biggest issue”…and guess who their DC is: Jon Tenuta. The man formerly known as a defensive genius. The man who would have had GT competing for national titles if it wasn’t for Chan Gailey and Reggie Ball (or so the grumbling Tech fans would have you believe.) So what happened- did he just become a terrible coach over the last year? Or does Notre Dame just not have the athletes? Or was he overrated to start with?

first? who woulda thought…
well, be it GT or ND, in the fbs, the regular season will always be successful for CPJ. That is unless the good teams we play have a week off on their schedule or they take a week off from focusing on their opponent for that week. Example: both teams on the field at Bobby Dodd prepared for their opponent for 2 straight weeks (according to my reliable sources). Does it help??? Well, it can’t hurt. After the regular season, the 3 or 4 weeks that a solid (upper echelon) bowl opponent of a CPJ team will have plenty of preparation to try and slow us down for a quarter or two.

Now, CPJ wants the fbs to go to a playoff system like the fcs. That could play well right into the strenght of the spread option… minimal preparation for the opponent’s defense.

As for Tuberville’s comments… for what its worth, any job that requires you win a national championship within 4 years may be worth the 4-5 million it will pay. However, how much damage have you caused to your resume if you can’t live up to the expectations. That may be 4-5 years lost to another job that you could have been building success “under the radar.”

Compared to ND, GT is definitely under the radar… that is until 2010! Let’s play for all the marbles and keep it all the way turnt up! Keep CPJ at all cost$$$ & Go jackets! THWG!

This blog is a total non-starter. Who cares about Notre Dame?

The blog has already degraded into name-calling, because the subject is so lame, and people are bored, I suppose.

Do you have some sort of quota you have to fulfill regarding blogs?

notre shame not doing too good after that degree thing, i pray for them….if 3 pts. wasn’t enuf to qualify as a whuppin’ last year,& fringe (supposedly) GT bloggers were wrong to call it that(& they were-i don’t miss them, either), now 6 points IS the definition? really, the 1st time all year your coaches get something out of all that talent, & you are happy, because it was Tech, even tho’ we’re so trivial? we just got rid of a coach because he couldn’t consistently get the most out of his players-also, recruits should note uga bloggers seem to have something against “ghettoes”…maybe CPJ is still curious to see what he can do at his present job, which he barely begun..

CPJ is much better off at Tech. He has shown that he can win there. I’d be shocked if he left anytime soon. Hey, maybe ND will take WIllie off our backs!!! Good luck against Clemson.

gt90 are you kidding me?

D Rad made the perfect hire for GT with CPJ…the man can coach and he will re-heat the UGA-tech rivalry. His system is perfect for tech…it is an equalizer for lesser talent..not a knock..just a fact.
If i were a tech fan my concern would be can CPJ build defensively…doesnt seem he has ever had a good defense anywhere he has been.

BUT….my man you are delusional if you think tech is a better job than Notre Dame….for LOTS of different reasons. I am not going to spend time writing all the reasons…IF you truly know college football and are capable of being objective you know them anyway!

Tubby was simply sucking up to the local audience!

Booby Dudd DOES NOT seat 62,000…and it is only full once a year anyway…for the UGA and Clemson game…THANKS to their fans! I dont think you are a tech fan anyway…you dont even know how many fans Booby Dudd seats!

And since you live in Tampa…i am sure you have hearing the loud gagging and groaning for the last 3 days…that would be the Orange Bowl committee and all it’s sponsers puking and gagging realizing the millions they would lose if tech wins the acc chumpionship/lip stick on a hog game!

And there will be several high school games in the state of Ga. this
friday that will have more fans there than there will be tech fans at the Tampa game! Bank on it!
