Johnson wins ACC coach of the year

For the second consecutive year, Paul Johnson was named the ACC’s coach of the year on Tuesday.

Johnson received 24 of a possible 40 votes from the media. Clemson’s Dabo Swinney finished second with 10 votes.

Georgia Tech is 10-2 this season and will play the Tigers in the ACC championship game at  8 p.m. Saturday in Tampa.

The Yellow Jackets went 9-4 last season, Johnson’s first at Tech.

Tech’s offense this season led the ACC in scoring (35 points per game), total offense (440.5 ypg), rushing offense (305 ypg) and pass efficiency (160.7 rating).

Ahhhh, i am glad to see the DAWG fans really do see GT as a rival, that would explain all of the DAWGS on the GT blogs…now that we have the rival thing figured out…GO TECH, beat Clemson and head to a BCS bowl. UGA enjoy your crappy bowl and good luck playing in another one next year…

FYI…this time next year you will be crying for BOBO to be fired, then suddenly you will all realize that you recruit thugs, you always get the left over crap from UF and Tennessee. HA!

The truth really does hurt

What hurts is being beaten by the worst Dawg team in 13 years. Ouch that smarts. When we lose to Clemson this week that’ll be double ouch. When we lose in the Gator bowl we’ll be feeling normal again. Wher’s my pocket protector…

Coach of the Year even though he couldn’t beat a hapless UGA team without their best player, at home with two weeks to prepare? Man, the ACC really must suck

Congrats Paul Johnson! Still hurts not to get a win against the Bulldogs, but a win against Clemson this weekend would make that lose sting a lot less.

This is our time tech fans to show our support for the team and Paul Johnson. See everyone down in Tampa! Go Jackets!

He is no coach of the year. The fact he couldn’t beat the worst UGA team we’ve been fortunate enough to face in years says it all. This is the beginning of the end. I hope Brian Kelly doesn’t go to ND.

Do you know how to tell when it’s a Georgia fan posing as a GA Tech fan on these blogs?

They don’t understand common grammar, always misspell/misuse common words, and try to act like they have something important to say but end up saying nothing important at all.

Congratulations to Paul Johnson for his second straight ACC Coach of the Year Award. Well deserved and much appreciated by the GA Tech fans. All others who aren’t happy about Coach Johnson winning the award must have felt his wrath either this season or last season, and are just wishing this nightmare of a Coach would stop beating up on their poor little teams and their poor little defensive coordinators.

First you have to have dominance… then you just keep kicking azz year after year. Tech’s azz should have a pretty big callus by now we’ve kicked it so much in the last 9 years….

CPJ is a good coach. Too bad he has to waste his talent at Tech.

Congratulations to Paul Johnson. He is an excellent football coach with a history of winning everywhere he has coached. Johnson has greatly improved Tech’s program and turned them into a tough and worthy adversary for my Dawgs. Paul Johnson deserves the honor of being named the ACC’s Coach of the Year. Best of luck in Tampa.

The posts to this point have been pretty pathetic. Not a single classy comment by a UGA fan. While I wish we beat UGA every time we take the field, I still respect Mark Richt and the job he has done with that program. Insulting him and his program would be the last thing I would do if he were to win the SEC coach of the year award. Not surprised by the comments, but disappointed that they feel the need to completely tarnish in such a harsh manner something that tech fans are proud of and believe in.

After a year of reading the most slanderous. heinous, trashy and classless postings from Tech fans no one should be surprised at the vicious rebuttals Dawg fans are heaping upon Tech fans after losing to the Bulldogs. However, I will state that Paul Johnson is one hell of a good football coach and deserves to be named ACC Coach of the Year. This Georgia Bulldog does congratulate Coach Paul Johnson. He has really improved Tech’s football program and at least temporarily has the support of Tech fans which waivers easily. But for the life of me I cannot understand why so many Tech fans left so many empty seats in their stadium this past season.

Tech finally has a good football coach and they still don’t buy tickets to the football games. How long before PJ gets tired of the lack of support and bolts to a bigger football program that pays more money and fills up a much larger stadium. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at South Carolina when Spurrier leaves (which no doubt won’t be long.) Carolina has an 80,000 seat stadium that is filled to capacity whether they win or lose unlike Tech’s 55,000 seat stadium, very rarely full. And don’t forget that Georgia Tech fans have proven themselves over the generations to be the most fair weather fans in the south!
