Seven Jackets make All-ACC in football

Seven  Georgia Tech players  made the All-ACC football team that was announced on Monday.

Five players on offense and two on defense were honored. Six of those players made the first team in a vote conducted by 40 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

Quarterback Josh Nesbitt, B-back Jonathan Dwyer, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, center Sean Bedford and guard Cord Howard were honored on the offensive side of the ball.

They helped the Jackets lead the ACC in scoring (35 points per game), total offense (440.5 ypg), rushing offense (305 ypg) and pass efficiency (160.7 rating).

Defensive end Derrick Morgan was honored on the other side for his  12.5 sacks. Safety Morgan Burnett made the second team

this says it all tech nerds
Paging Tech’s defense
Georgia exposed a dirty little secret about Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday night: The Yellow Jacket defense is atrocious.

Even after reeling off eight consecutive wins, the Yellow Jackets wound up being a top-10 fraud, a pretender as soon as a more physical SEC team entered their building. By no stretch of the imagination was this a vintage Bulldog team that made the trip to Bobby Dodd Stadium this weekend. These ‘Dawgs began the day 6-5 and fresh off a devastating loss to Kentucky a week earlier.

The win made Georgia players do some funny things, such as take pieces of the field home. (John Bazemore / Associated Press)

However, on this night, they were physically superior and, at times, dominant, shoving Tech around its own field. On this night, Georgia adopted the personality of Georgia Tech, blowing open huge holes for Washaun Ealey and Caleb King, en route to a season-high 339 yards on the ground. Had Mark Richt known he’d get that long-awaited breakout effort from his kids, he’d have tried to get Tech on the schedule twice in 2009.

The Yellow Jackets might still go on to win a conference championship and play in a BCS bowl game, but as legitimate national powerhouses go, they just don’t measure up, especially on defense. It was a bad night for Tech and a horrible day all around for the ACC.

wow how dare these 20 yr old GT players make the ACC all conference team. What gives them the right to want to attend a good school and earn a degree that means something? How dare they enjoy themselves and dance around in their own stadium and make videos? After all I’m a D A W G fan and they should know I am better than them even though my SAT score was 790, and I am 80 lbs overweight because I eat donuts and sausage biscuits all day and never lean over and touch my toes in the last 25 yrs. Doesn’t matter I’m a D A W G fan and I run the show.

When one team has one third of the ALL A-SHE-SHE conference players it tells you how bad the conference is. 2 and 5 vs the SEC so far this year with two wins over the non-bowl eligible SEC teams.

Now you can commence with the name calling since you can’t beat the worst UGA team in 13 years.

Bay Bay had 5 catches for 130 yards against UGA. He also has more yards than AJ Green and Julio Jones. He owned little Prince Miller all night and if it weren’t for him that game wouldn’t have been close and Tech would not be sitting at 10-2 and #10 at the nation. Bay Bay has a chance to be playing in a BCS bowl while yall are at the papajohns.com bowl.

Our guys have more important things than football too. Tech team SAT average is 1260. UGA team average is 1010. Look it up on Sporting News website/

Glad to see all the dawg fans enjoyed their win. I guess GT is not irrelevant after all, seems that beating them has meant a lot to their fans and team.

Their fans should be proud of their team, they played a great game (perhaps their best of the year). It says alot, however, that on a night that ugag was playing their best and GT was struggling on offense and defense that GT STILL had a chance to win the game at the end.

That doesn’t take anything away from the uga players, they played well and deserved to win, but it does show that things are different than in the past. GT has come a long way.

Dairy sciences (how to milk a cow), dance (yes…dance), wildfire (absolutely no idea how you can create a wildfire major), turfgrass management (someone has to cut our grass), fisheries and wildlife (for the rednecks), etc. For those that may think I am making these up, feel free to peruse the list.

One question for you tech fans. How are you going to stop Spiller this week? Honestly I want your opinion on this. Caleb and Ealey are up and coming players but not yet on the level of Clem-sons Spiller. Also, I wonder if the fact that Clem-son already played GT earlier this year will help their defense the second time around as they will be familiar with each assignment needed to stop the option. Just things to think about. Man I know you say that the DAWGS win means nothing, but how great would it be if tech loses to Clem-son and ends up in the Gaytor bowl!!!! Wouldnt that be something? Hey Dawg83, I do not know a single GT grad that works for a Georgia grad. In fact, I know of several reverse situations. Still does not excuse the fact that those majors exist at UGA, and how they are filler majors for athletes.

By the way, you may want to check out the below article. In case you are wondering, GT has top programs (in the nation and world) for a majority of these majors, which means GT’s averages / medians are higher than those listed. Considering this, UGA grads must not be to intelligent if they are paying their “janitors” this type of money.

Dawg Fans are GIDDY…Just a little over a week after LOSING TO KENTUCKY – Yeah, that’s right…K-E-N-T-U-C-K-Y!!! LOL…

Georgia Tech: BCS Ranking #10 in the country…Playing for a Conference Championship and a COVETED BCS Bowl Berth…Coastal Division Champs…10 Wins, 2 Losses. “Beating UGA” didn’t even SHOW UP on the Tech PLAYERS’ list of goals this year.

UGAY: No Ranking in ANY POLL in the country…Watching other teams play for Conference Championships on a big screen at Hooters…4 games BEHIND the East Division Champs…7 Wins, 5 Losses. Dawg Fans, Coaches and Players are elated by “SAVING their miserable season” with a 6 point win over the better, RANKED team in the state. How PATHETIC and DESPERATE we must have appeared to Dawg Fans when Chandler Gailey drove our football program off a cliff…Nice to see it from the other side for a change.

When you lose football games the #1 tactic is to change the subject.

If you want to make a big deal of traffic violations and underage drinking have at it. You got nothing to talk about otherwise.

The week before the game I mentioned the past and got lectured from Tech fans on this being a new era…oh well new era and a new UGA win streak is under way.
What a comfort…in our darkest moment under CMR and your brightest one since 1990 we can still rise up and whip that mustard yellow rear end… HBTD: 30-24: woooooooof!!!!!!

The Ugliest truth to a tech fan is a 30 to 24 total domination by the worst UGA team in 13 years. 8 of the last 9. Number 1 team in Georgia.

You guys really thought this was going to be a tech blow out and CPJ was a genius… he is a good coach at a real average football school in a below average conference.

THEEEEEEEE UGLYYYYYYYY TRUTHHHHHHHH ISSSS 30 to 24. Eat it maggots.

This is to Tech don’t understand person. You are still not geting the piont I am telling you.You have to win more than just one game to get anywhere. We are 10th in the BCS and you are off the map.Thats what realy matters more than anything.Sure I wish we won the game and almost did,but we have big things we can do and you are not in the position to do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dinner at Tech. Funny thing is, GT’s business school now ranks ahead of UGA’s “touted” business program. As for your pre-med and pre-law programs, an engineering degree works just fine. Graduated with numerous Tech alum that attended top law and med schools after graduating from Tech as engineers. Earning a Biomedical engineer degree from GT can get you into some of the top med schools in the country (Emory, Vanderbilt, etc.) So that UGA argument about superior non-engineering programs is out the window.

I think I am beginning to realize why your fans are so passionate about your football team. I will leave that one open ended and see if you can reason through what I am implying there. I may be asking for to much, reason and logic may not be requisites for Entomology.

How the Hell does Russell Wilson of N. C. State toss 32 TD passes for a 5-7 team and NOT make All-Conference? I bet Nesbitt didn’t throw 32– in practice! And Lewis of Duke? You gotta be kidding! He couldn’t carry Wilson’s jock strap.

We need to get some things straight:
1) Caleb King did not just score again. UGA won the game bacause the best player on field for much of the night dropped a wide open pass on 4th down. It sucks, but it happens – just like committing 4 turnovers in the 2nd half of a game you should win going away.
2) Any real football fan knows that winning championships is THE goal. The last time I checked they don’t hand out trophies for beating Georgia (as we have been reminded ad nauseum since the Peach Bowl). I don’t live in the ATL anymore so this is easier for me to say, but coach had it exactly right last week. Our season is not about 1 game.
3) I’m going to speak very slowly on this one so everyone understands. The playcalling was spot on at the end of the game. The first 3 passes were to superior receivers in single coverage. The 2nd and 3rd could have easily been called defensive interference. The 4th pass was to our best reciever who was wide freakin’ open because of the previous 3 play calls. It all comes down to execution – which we failed to do.
4) We’re ranked 10th in the country, playing for the ACC championship and an invitation to a BCS bowl game. This is year 2 people. It does not get much better than this. That is until next year…

Hey Ummm. If GT is so damn good, then why do you hide the jocks in “Industrial Engineering?”
I managed a global engineering (ME) corporation for 22 years– with a B. S. in Chemistry (my undergrad. degree) from…………….the University of Georgia. I NEVER met even one manager in 22 years who had a degree in “industrial engineering”– from anywhere.

one completion away from another loss, yet their self-esteem is back…maybe you Techies that respond in kind to silly posts that you think assert alpha- maleness will realize now that anything other than facts is only funny, in a pathetic kind of way…like, how many of their proud “professionals” are lawyers, & isn’t that a boon to the world…& about as many of our atheletes earn the same business degree %-wise as the regular freshmen class…& when i applied to GT, the MATH on my SAT was weighted double, you can make 1100 with 800 verbal, & they DO like to talk(still they could spell better, it’s r-u-I-n)..stick to facts, like payscale.com, they mostly don’t know enough to respond accurately, like “sports are entertainment”-your reply?

This is too much fun! “The UGALY Truth” wants to make fun of UGA not being ranked, not getting a decent bowl game and losing to UK..

To be a smart as y’all claim to be – you are missing the point – the reason we are so happy is exactly that; we beat Tech (#7 in the country – your best team in at least a decade) on your home turf with the worst team we have fielded in a decade, with the worst Defensive Coordinator in the country, a clueless Offensive Coordinator, a game but poor QB, and our best player out hurt. So, while it’s true that we sucked this year, we still beat you. That’s the point – we are bad this year and yet we are better than GT, who may win the ACC if they can beat Clempson (who was just crushed by USC, who we also beat).

The other predictable come back from a Techie after an azz whipping is always – “yeah, well you’ll be working for me or delivering my pizzas one day”. That was old in 1980 when I was in school, it’s even older today. Just try to man up and say “we’ll get you next year”.

Diablo… I will try to enter into an intelligent discourse here.

1. The better team won Saturday night. As unbelievable as it seemed beforehand, there really was a team with a worse defense than Georgia’s. I think Tech is about on the level of South Carolina. They beat Clemson by similar scores and both lost to Georgia in close games. Georgia receivers dropped passes too.

2. UGA fans want to know….. If the Georgia game is just one more game, nothing special, then why did Paul Johnson have rings made for the players when Tech beat Georgia last year?

3. Pass interference? C’mon

4. True, if Tech beats Clemson Saturday they will go to the Orange Bowl, but at some point the WAC and the Mountain West (or whatever they are) will bring forth the argument that their conferences are stronger than the ACC. The Orange Bowl folks also must be getting terribly impatient with the ACC. Saturday was the perfect storm. The day provided the opportunity for all to see how seriously weak the ACC is. People wonder why no one goes to the ACC Championship games, It is because people don’t want to pay good money to see two teams that can’t beat the mid level teams of most other conferences.

What’s amazing is we play subpar only to look up after the game and see 350 yards total offense, 17 first downs, 30 min. time poss., and Nesbitt is out a Quarter and our defense can’t stop the dawgs running game. That’s this triple option is feels like wer’e playing poorly and then look up at the end of the game and we have a chance of winning the game on the last possession. That’s why I guess we did’nt fall too far. Clemson is going to be tough particularly since we could’nt stop Ga.

Yep..another UGA player arrested…thats 4 in last 2 months…driving scooters with no liscense and public intoxication…..just shameful…and from college kids…cant imagine it!!!

Meanwhile at GT baseball players dying from herione overdoses, star player caught with 90 lbs of dope in his car…shortly thereafter proudly taking the field to play against UGA, 290 lb. lineman smashing a 120 lb girls face with his fist at a pizza parlor, assistant coach at GT caught DUI, possession, and leaving the scene of an accident…….as Larry Mu nson would say….”Get the picture now”
