Haven't seen or heard a game yet, but let me guess...25+ turnovers, sub 60% FT shooting, and Hewitt boasts that this year's team is long and athletic.

drew, as I stated above, if needed the trigger will be pulled. The program will lose more financially if the team falters and the fans stop showing up/buying season tickets.

Yep, same problems as last season. Let's see what happens today and in the coming games. Shumpert needs to get a clue that he is not the star of the team. No reason for him to have more shots than both Lawal and Favors. Those two are the stars of this team and the entire offense should revolve around getting them the ball.
Now how Lawal has 8 TO's I don't know. I didn't get to see the game but sounds like he gave away a few potential assists with those TO's.

I fully hope that the team turns it around, because I will have a hard time stomaching another season like last year. I don't think DRAD could stomach it either.

Watching the Tech/Dayton game yesterday, it's clear to me that the problems plaguing Tech last year have not been fixed. I refer to free throw shooting (11 of 20), 3-pointers (2 of 8), and turnovers (26!!). Another thing that jumped out in the box score was the grand total of 7 assists.

I know it's early in the season, and this is a young team, but these glaring deficiencies that seem to have carried over from last year will have to be corrected if Tech's going to make any noise this year.

I respect Paul Hewitt as a person, but I have strong reservations about his ability to "coach up" his players. He's proven to be a great recruiter, and he's rounded up a very talented group of "individuals" this year; the question is whether or not he can turn them into a "team".

If he can't win with this group, I'll be convinced that he needs to go. Although with his perpetual rollover contract, I doubt GT can afford to pull the trigger.

Hewitt needs to go. He is a great recruiter, but can't coach. This team should be able to beat the 18th ranked team without any trouble. Hewitt is just like Gailey was as football coach. Enough is enough. Roy Williams would probably go undefeated with this team. The talent is there. I just don't see him doing anything special this year with all this talent.

1st time blogger... Based on what I have been reading from alot of TECH fans on various sites... the concensus is that WE will absolutely demolish UGA. As a long time TECH fan ( 50 yrs, or since I can remember), there has been only 1 TECH team that I can remember that was unanimasly expected to beat UGA, and that team was the 1990 NC Team. Yes, we had better players on that team than UGA... I think we put more guys in the Pros thay year. But that was yesterday for Ga Tech & UGA. This is today for GT & UGA. We have a pretty good team with pretty good talent, and, I think, a VERY good coach. But guess what, UGA has at least as good talent(and probably better)and a VERY good coach as well. So what does that mean... I think that means that this will be a very hard faught game that will be within 6 points, either team wins. So,to think that we can whip them by 40 ain't gonna happen. The only thing we can do as fans, allumini, season ticket holders is to be there to support the JACKETS!!!! IN THIS GAME AND THE FOLLOWING GAMES.
PLEASE!!!!! LET"S GET IN REALITY... THE ONLY WAY WE CAN KEEP THIS GOING... IS WITH OUR MONEY AND SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET's GO JACKET'S!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone seen how well Will Bynum is doing in the nba. And Anthony Morrow too. We have so many players doing well in the nba yet nothing to show for it in college except for 2004. Makes you wonder about the coaching.

I thought I posted this but it doesn't seem to have made it through.

Can we just stop going back and forth about Hewitt on these blogs. This is Hewitt's make or break year. If the team doesn't finish in the top 4 of the ACC and make it past the 2nd round of the NCAA's he will be gone, no matter that we will have to shell out big $$ to get rid of him. He knows it, we know it, DRAD knows it.

DRAD has proven that he will not tolerate mediocrity. He has raised the bar for GT Athletics and expects the programs to all be winners. CPJ has also raised the bar and Hewitt either needs to match the success or he will be gone. Hewitt has the talent this year to be a winner so there are no excuses.

Now let's let the season unfold and enjoy(hopefully) the team.

Hewitt's teams lose on the defensive side of the court. Kids nowadays won't buy into the defensive strategy. That's at just about any program outside the state of NC...that and the ability to shoot free throws even at the NBA level has about lost me as a hoops fan.

and disparaging remarks do not contribute to the good will of the team.

There is a time for all things and the beginning of a season is a poor time to gripe about the coach.
What purpose does it serve?
