Let the smacktalk begin

I’ll be taking a short blog break because Tech is off this week. I’ll be picking it back up again when the team resumes practice on Wednesday.

However, I open it to you to bring your best smack to UGA fans. A few caveats: no cursing, no personal insults, nothing unnecessary. Keep it clean, but make it fun.

Need to really pound those pups! Gotta give’em motivation for next year so it will be a good game, otherwise another yawner.

I’d like to see them so focused on GT next year that they forget about everything else and have an even worse record than this year, then still get a beat down on ‘em in Athens.

Although, my belief is that GT will win this game by double digits (my prediction is 45-31, I do not believe we can take this game lightly. As usual, we need to protect the ball and make plays in special teams. I realize we came back last year from 2 scores down, but I would not like to try that again, if you know what I mean.

GT has 4 football titles. UGA has 1.

GT’s most recent football title is in 1990, UGA’s only title is from 1980.

GT has 2 final fours, UGA has 1.

Both of GT’s final four’s are more recent than UGAs.

GT has 1 basketball championship game apperance, UGA has none.

GT has more wins in their current stadium than any program in history.

GT has the oldest stadium in 1A football.

GT had John Heisman and Bobby Dodd for 40 years combined, those 2 are who the national player and coach of the year awards are named after. UGA had Wally Butts.

GT won the most lopsided game in history 222-0.

And as we speak today, GT has vastly superior programs in football and basketball. Both teams are ranked.

Paul Johnson has accomplished all his GT feats in year 2 with another coaches players, and is just getting started.

And all that’s just the sports side. I’d get into the academic side, but the volume of that post would break the internet.

After Mark Richt dies and enters the Pearly Gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows Mark a little two-bedroom house with a faded Georgia banner hanging from the front porch. “This is your house, coach. Most people don’t get their own houses up here,” God says. Coach Richt looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one sitting on top of the hill. It’s a huge two-story mansion with white marble columns and little patios under all the windows. GT flags line both sides of the sidewalk and a huge Yellow Jacket banner hangs between the marble columns. “Thanks for the house, God. But let me ask you a question. I get this little two-bedroom house with a faded banner and Paul Johnson gets a mansion with GT banners and flags flying all over the place. Why is that?” God looks at him seriously for a moment. “That’s not Paul Johnson’s house,” God says. “That’s mine.”

“And right now our minds are on Georgia.” – CP”Goferit”J (with apologies to Ray Charles)

Unlike previous years, Tech fans expect to beat U[sic]GA in two weeks. Tech fans actually anticipate this Clean Ol’ Fashioned Hate renewal and aren’t the typical ball of nerves that usually infects us this time of year. Georgia has had all year to look at North Avenue and see what’s coming and we are eager for CP”Goferit”J to give it to them. Dare I say it – Georgia is intimidated coming into the game this year? ;)

Coastal title in hand. #7 in the nation. At home. BCS glory to play for. U[sic]GA in near disarray. And CP”Goferit”J calling the plays. My, have the stars aligned…

The only smack talk anyone needs to know is that Paul Johnson has the best record of any coach in Rivalry games. He Beat Army every year at the Naval Academy, and is 1 and 0 against UGA. An undefeated record in BOTH!

Who cares about the past when the future is being made by a coach who refuses to lose these type of games. By the way, his first win against Army was 58 to 12 with a team that went 1 and 20 before he became the head coach.

Back in 1985 the famous call by Al on Gary Lee’s kickoff return–well I saw a sign at one of the houses that said—”Dooley takes it like the rest of the Dogs-in the REAR” this year I think Johnson has these boys so fired up and trys to beat down the dogs- don’t think he dosent keep in the back of his mind what Eric Z said about the “high school offense” Old fashion hate yes…..so talk all you want dog fans about how many years this and that…..well this year ya’ll are going to have it handed to you JOHNSON style…Two backs will have 100+ on wille….and do us all a favor tell #9 that when he makes a tackle 10 yards in the secondary not to jump up and high five like he has done something- good luck with the wildcats-Full steam—-THWG!!!!

My dad and I attended the Tech-UGA game in Athens in 1964 which UGA won 7-0. We didn’t know it at the time but it was a “culture changing” game, the effects of which lasted (with a few blips) for over 40 years. That era ended in the third quarter of the GT-UGA game in 2008. This one is courtesy CPJ from the caravan this summer:

The Georgia football coach (he did not say CMR) walks into the AD’s office at UGA. He says “I need a raise – you don’t know what I am dealing with here with these players. Let me give you an example”. He looks out in the hallway and sees a UGA football player walking by. He says to the player “son, go down to my office and see if I am still there”. So the football player runs off, and comes back 15 minutes later. “No. coach”, he says. “You are not there”.

So the coach turns to the AD and says “see what i mean?” The AD director says “wow – you’re right. He could have just called you on the phone to find out the same thing.”

Four guys are on a hiking trip to the top of a huge cliff never climbed before. One is a grad from GT, one from Notre Dame, one from Bama, and the fouth from Uga. After days of climbing, they make it to the top. After a few moments of catching a breather, the ground starts to shake, lightning bolts fly, and the sky opens up. A tremendously deep voice shouts from the heavens and states: “You have stepped atop the sacred mountain of college prestige. Only one of you may leave to tell this story. The other three must plunge to their deaths screaming their beloved school’s motto.” The four guys stare at each other in fear…..the Notre Dame guy says ” I’ll jump since Notre Dame has the best history of any school” , he then jumps and shouts……. “three cheeeeers for old Notre Daaaaaame.” Then he splats all over the ground. The Bama guy sees how brave the Notre Dame guy was , and says, ” I’ll jump because Bama is the best SEC school of all time”. He jumps and yells “Rooooooolllllllll Tiiiide” ….then splat! The Uga guy looks in horror, but definitely can’t be upstaged by the prior. So he looks at the Tech guy and says…”i’ll jump because the dawgs are the best team in the great state of Georgia”. He then looks over the edge down at the rugged rocks below..with legs shaking and trembling with fear…………………….and then the Tech guy pushes him off the cliff and yells out “TO HELL WITH GEORGIA”.
