SST, I don't agree with your comment on GT losing Nesbit, Jaybo is a very competent backup or replacement. He showed that last year when he filled in for Josh and won some very big games for tech.He may not have the physical strength that Josh has to plough up the middle but I think he makes up for that by being a better passer. Sure we'll take a hit but it won't be that big.

Finally looked into this article, can't say I really agree with you. Here's some reasons...

-Tech's 9-1. Which means Dwyer has those stats compiled in one more game than Ingram and the 9-0 Tide.

-You have to take this into account...
Rec Yds YPC LNG TD
24	216	9.0	31	3 -----> Ingram
1	11	11.0	11	0 -----> Dwyer

-Running in a triple option makes it much easier to put up big rushing numbers. Same thing as Graham Harrell at TT these past 3 years. Sure 4500 passing yards a season is pretty impressive but the scheme was built for that.

-SEC is much more competitive than the ACC is defensively speaking.

-100+ yard games are against
Dwyer's - UNC, FSU, Virginia, Vandy, and Wake. Also 95 against Jax St.
Ingram's - VT, USC, UK, Ole Miss, and LSU. Also 99 against Tennessee.

Yes, the national media focuses more on the SEC and Mark Ingram than the ACC and Jonathon Dwyer, but, deservedly so.

There are only two good teams in the SEC, Florida and Bama. Bama is going to loose in the SEC championship anyways. And a reason why there are teams in the SEC that are better than ACC teams is because the schools in the SEC have a larger enrollment rate, therefore multitalented student athletes would rather play for a larger more competitive schools.

How can anyone expect Jaybo just to step right in and get it done immediately. He hasn't had hardly any snaps this season and without
game day snaps he can't develope. Jaybo may be able to do a great job but how can we expect it when he hasn't had the experience. Any team who dosen't have a 2nd QB without substantial gameday experience is
questionable.

SST: Nesbitt is our MVP. He darn sure showed it against Wake. Everyone laughed at Tech's passing game earlier this year and that is because Dwyer was not then at his current level. When Dwyer got back to where he is now, Nesbitt then began to get the time to pass and has shown that he can complete enough to keep the defense honest.
The key reason Nesbitt is our MVP is that the PJ system requires that the QB take an awful pounding every game. Nesbitt, thankfully and knock on wood, has shown that he can take it. This is what is truly amazing.

What a great blog. DUKE is really the topic and everything else is second. Their QB is sharp and any team coached by Cutcliffe is going to be tough. I would just once like to see our defense play the first and second halves like they have played in recent second halves. They have shown that they can play decently but they don't seem to figure it out until halftime. This will get you killed against UGA and may get you killed at Duke.

TECH MD: I certainly agree. Bama is the best team in my opinion and a win over them would be sensational. That idea is really beyound my wildest dreams however. Frankly, I would be delighted to maintain our current rank at the end of the year. I may be thought of as too negative but this team is already beyond my wildest dreams.
But remember the 1990 squad. No one expected that team to become #1 but it became a season of constant improvement. By the end of the year that team was able to beat anybody. UGA and Nebraska had to endure it but any team in the nation was going to lose to Tech after Nov 1 that year.

I understand that Dwyer himself may want the Heisman in the worst way and I wouldn't blame him but these individual awards don't mean much to me as fan. Tech's 7th place in the BCS is the key for me and I think it's right where it should be. The system is working well for this team. I may say that #4,5,and 6 don't deserve to be ahead of Tech but at the same time, since they are undefeated, why should'nt they be. Its the team recognition that I want and if they continue to win this will take care of itself. I'm quite content. Dwyer is quite well recognized.
Nesbitt is the guy who takes the weekly pounding that no other QB has to take and I would certainly like to see him get more recognition.

Doug,

What do you put the odds that Dwyer, Thomas, Morgan and Burnett all return next season to try to win it all? I know Nesbitt will return because his path to the NFL is not clear. The other four guys are NFL caliber players and would surely be drafted, how high is another story. Sitting #7 in the BCS with a roster that will return everyone except two OL guys (who likely could be replaced without a hiccup since they have rotated lots of guys in anyway) next season (if those guys choose to stay), wouldn't they be a preseason top 5 team?
