I've learned to usually ignore BuLLdawg's sad little rants (didn't take long to figure out * that * was a good idea). But for some reason I scanned some of what he posted this time. I'll try to take the high road here, and simply start by pointing out a little BS:

"Georgia Tech’s SoS for all games this year, shows that Tech’s Opponents have a LOSING RECORD by several games."
WRONG. Not spectacular, but so far our opponents are 39-35. Funny: If you BEAT 8 out of 9 of those teams, it helps reduce their overall record that much more! If you only beat 4 of 8: Not so much…
(In other words, against teams OTHER than GT, so far our opponents are 38-27. Not quite as good as UGA's opponents cumulative record, but UGA losing to FOUR teams so far sure helps that total for those opponents!)
I'll be the first to admit that UGA FINALLY scheduled ONE tough OOC game this year -- other than GT that is -- and actually ventured out of the Southeast during the regular season! Congratulations…was that so hard? (Well, I guess the losing-by-2-touchdowns part was.) So kudos on your oh-so-tough schedule, and on going a perfect 0-3 -- and counting -- in your games against current top 25 opponents. (Yes, GT did have ONE loss was to a ranked opponent…But we also know what it's like to BEAT a ranked opponent.)

"37-39 record of all teams on Georgia Tech’s schedule this season."
WRONG. 39-35 so far -- like I said -- and if you add the last 3 regular season games, the current sum total of all of this year's opponents is a winning record too. (At least it is if you actually know how to add properly, that is. I know that at least * some * UGA fans are capable of that.)

And as plenty of people have pointed out, GT's schedule is one of the more difficult ones, as tabulated by experts who actually use, you know, FACTS. But I know you don't let mere facts get in the way of many of the opinions on your little diatribes. Of course one fact is that playing GT helps UGA's S.O.S…much more than playing UGA helps GT's S.O.S. Why is that?

"SEC has 3 of the Top 9 teams in college football, and the ACC has ZERO."
Two questions:
(1) Guess who the #10 team is?
(I'll give you a hint: It rhymes with "Georgia" and "Tech"…)
(2) Where's UGA ranked? How many spots after you get past all of the teams in "others receiving votes" ?

"Georgia Tech has NOT played and will not play any one. Miami of Florida has not played and will not play any one."
Yeah, VT and Oklahoma sure are pushovers. And by saying GT "will not play any one", you are saying that UGA isn't "any one". Well done, genius! Well, I'm not that much of a hater, but I can actually agree with you on that little observation about UGA...

"You will do this after you play a totally unranked ACC team from the Atlantic Division in a conference Chumpionship no one will attend, or even watch."
We do have a couple of games to play first. If we make it there as we should, I will go along with tens of thousands of others. If it happens to not be a sell out, we will still enjoy it. Don't understand the huge obsession about posting endlessly about "not selling out" games. I understand the point you are * trying * to make, but it's just desparate, pathetic hatin'.

"You cannot even sell out your own stadium for the 1 game against a team only ranked because they didn’t play any one either, like Tech."
So…You are saying that VT playing Alabama (or Nebraska, or Miami) doesn't count as "playing any one either" ? Riiiiiight.

"to come down there in the slums of Atlanta where all the crime and drugs are and buy a ticket to your lousy scheduled games in a sorry-butt conference"
Just suffice it to say that Atlanta sucks so much that 5 million people (and counting) choose to live here. If you aren't one of them, so be it. Sometimes GT sells out, and sometimes we don't. And I'll enjoy the tailgating -- and winning -- with tens of thousands of people who are not so miserable, hateful, and obsessed.

On a happier note, I agree with GT 9: "Time to get paleolithic on the Deacs and grind them into an unnameable substance that even a dog wouldn’t lick."
Great stuff! And thanks for almost making me laugh-'n-spray sweet tea all over my keyboard…

You know the saying - Defense wins championships. Trying not to be pessimistic here or sounding dawgish but I am concerned about the ACC and bowl games. I believe the current D will hold up for the next 3 games against WF, Duke and UGA but in the ACC Championship game it has to play a lot better. I understand there's a lot of injuries/sickness and that's making it hard for the coaches to put a consistent product on the field. But we have a few weeks to develop some depth and consistency. We can't expect the offense to keep putting up big scores to bail out the defense. However let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Let's win against Wake first.Wake first.

It wont matter what color jerseys we wear. If the defense doesn't come to play then we can lose! Again, we are not even close to being in the same field house that Texas, Alabama, Florida, or LSU plays in. We have NO defense..... Give the coach another couple of years and we will have something to be very proud of.... I'm not saying that I'm not proud of this team, but I live in a real world, where my HEART is with GT, but my brain still controls my mouth... Go Jackets! Win or Lose and THWG!

Well only 2 things here.... 1) Tech cannot help that there are no UFs, Bamas, or LSUs in the ACC... therefore its moot 2 talk abt another conference that does have all that, all you can do is defeat who you play... ＆ I for one agree that the 3rd game n 12 days played a role in the loss AT Miami
2) the polls really dnt mean anything but where PEOPLE think they are, I dnt think its proven than a higher ranked team has always beaten a lower ranked team (I mean as long as we are not talking about a team ranked versus a Vandy or FCS team)... that's a statistic I'd b curious 2 c, since football is about match-ups and some teams are built to play against other team, IE how the style of football differs from the PAC-10 to the BIG 10 to the SEC... I actually can't stand to watch WACK-10 or BIG TIN FB btw...

Oh yea, last thing... the LSU loss last yr comes from the fact of not only the talent difference n favor of LSU but the fact they had a MONTH 2 prepare for the offense when teams typically only have a week or 2

"The SEC TV announcer said Tech was the best 1 loss team in the nation during the Vandy game which surprised me since they had been SEC homers for most of the game."

Given that they expect GA Tech to win out, crushing UGA in the process, and LSU to lose to Alabama those comments are merely an extension of SEC homerism. GA Tech has gained their respect by playing SEC teams out of conference and, with the exception of LSU, putting a whooping on them.

The SEC homer does not see a 12-10 Alabama win being an ugly win that makes Alabama look weak, they see it as an SEC defensive struggle at its finest, demonstrating how the SEC is the best conference in the FBS. So when CPJ led GA Tech goes 4-1 against the SEC and in their wins score 38 (08 MSU), 45 (08 UGA), 42 (09 MSU), 56 (09 VAN), and what they expect to be an unholy stat line against 09 UGA the strength of the SEC is then transferred to GA Tech.

See in the homer mentality, Johnson's Spread Option offense does not expose vaunted SEC defenses as being overrated, on the contrary the value of the vaunted SEC defense is imputed upon GA Tech making it one of the best offenses in the country. In less than two years the standard line is transformed from Johnson's offense being a high school gimmick offense that can't stand up to the SEC, to Johnson's offense and his team being one of the best and well coached in the nation. While this appears bizarre at first, the homer mentality easily explains what has happened.

In the words of Josh Nesbitt, "How about them Jackets?"

I may be a dumb old guy, but with the way college football is setup, does it really matter if you are #10, #8, or even #3. The only #'s that matter in the pageantry of college football is #1 and #2 in the BCS.

As a Tech fan I will not get into arguments of where Tech should be ranked until the season is finished. I have been a fan too long and seen Tech stumble to teams they should have beaten. I just hope Johnson can change my perception as well as the nations.
